  1. Hey folks. I'm sorry if this has been asked previously and I can't find it - - - I need to wire up a couple of LED daylight running lights (DRLs) that I've mounted to the front of my Second Gen RSV. Obviously need to get at the low beam wire of the headlamp. Can somebody please tell me the quickest way of accessing same at the headlamp. I've printed out a wiring diagram for the bike, and from what I see I need the green wire. The owner's manual that came with the bike is next-to-useless. Tells me how to change a headlamp bulb, but that's about all. Hope y'all have a great 2015. Riding weather down-under is perfect. Warm days and 14 hours of daylight - gotta love that!
  2. Hey all, Happy Holidays! I rolled the dice on an instrument cluster on fleabay. I needed to replace the monitor in mine as the edges of the glass had what looked like black ink creeping in. I suspect this is an LCD pane and it's in an on-going fail mode. It's always a crapshoot buying stuff this way unless they post of vid of the running bike, which this one didn't. So if it didn't work I'm not out a lot of dough. Well, the new pane works, but it's very dim. I'm thinking it sat in the sun a long time and dulled the pane. So anyone know a trick to bring it back bright and visible again? The clock is from the old unit, the new one was too dim to see. The last pic is the old monitor. In daylight the display is very hard to see. It's getting dark here, plus it's rainy so no outside daylight pics available. But you can see the diff between the upper and lower displays. Any way to make it brighter?
  3. OK, how screwed am I? (hold that thought) I was taking the tank off to run wire for the HID headlight last night. I did the normal thing of attempting to break the seal from the brass tube and the carburetor hose like I've done so many times before. As I was putting things back together (in the daylight) today, I realized the brass tube is sticking in the end of the hose. SOOOO. 1) Is the brass tube just pressed into the petcock or brazed somehow? 2) anyone know of a fix to keep this from happening again in the future? 3) Any Ideas? Signed Two steps forward and one step back!
  4. Just got in from a LONG week in Taylor, TX, near Austin. Wish there had been time to visit some of our Texas members while there but this was a semi annual sales meeting and they have us busy from daylight until well after dark. I have tried to keep up with any requests here but if I have missed something, please let me know.
  5. This coming week, we are going to be having some very nice riding weather over most of the country. These are the days so many of us have waited on for so long. The down side is I will be surprised if we do not have a rider death or injury before the week is over in this area. It seems to happen every year. First of all, we are going to be out on the roads with people in cages that have not been around motorcycles in awhile. Many won't see us because they will not be expecting us. We will be invisible to many and we need to expect it. In daylight, I run my headlight on highbeam all the time. I see bikes with their headlight on lowbeam during daylight and the light would just as well be off. But remember, at night, a highbeam can be your enemy if you are blinding oncoming drivers. Many of the back roads around here still have fine gravel on them that was put down due to ice. General road conditions still need to be watched. There will be a lot of riders out there that will be on a "new to them" bike and sometimes it is hard not to see what it will do. Get used to your bike before you start pushing the limits. Hopefully, if you had not already done so, one of your winter projects was to put some loud horns on your bike. I have absolutely no doubt that if I had not put air horns on my bike years ago, I probably would not be sitting here typing this. Put them on and do not hesitate in using them if you suspect someone is invading your space. Being lucky is great, but being diligent may be what saves you. RandyA
  6. What will you do with the extra daylight hours? Renne..........:puzzled:
  7. Greetings and commiseratons to all you northern-hemisphere type people. At 5:47pm my time today (less than 5 hours ago) I was still outside in the yard doing things around the house. Didn't come inside until 8pm (just over 2 hours ago) when it was still daylight. Yep - today was the summer solstice for me. Sunrise was at 5:55am and sunset was 8:11pm. A whole 14 hours and 16 minutes of daylight. So where does the 5:47pm become significant? That's when old mother Earth went to the maximum on the old axis tilt and now she's heading back the other way. (You know - I swear I felt that slight hesitation, right at that time!) Now the days will be getting shorter for me, and getting longer for you. We had a fairly cool day today. It only got to 32degC (90degF). In six months time it'll be your turn for maximum daylight.
  8. Don't know what the lights look like inside. Are they just bulbs? If so, anyone think about tinkering with them enough to figure out how to wire led's instead? In bright daylight, sometimes the lights are hard to see. These would be like the neutral, O/d, etc...what I call jewel lights. If they are bulbs, I would think led's would be much brighter.
  9. I decided to go ahead and order a new "i"clutch basket to see if it will help tone down the whine a little. My local dealer here in Perth wants more than $450 just for the part. After reading thru the threads here I found Mr. Cycles part no. 4xy-16150-09-00 and checking the site its listed at $206.78. Once I put my order in the amount of $226.00 was requested for freight. I was expecting to pay a few bucks but that seems like daylight robbery to me or is it to make sure it costs me $450 whichever way I go. I'm trying now to get a quote from boats.net store. They quote $227.92 plus shipping. Steve
  10. LA rolled in about 11:30 this morning and we have been swapping lies all day. He has requested Spiderman sheets so the bed is made:cool10: and he is good to go! We'll be heading out after daylight. See you all at MD!.
