  1. I always miss the good stuff too ! AND I just payed my $12! But the entertainment value is well woth the cash!
  2. Toronto is the center of the Universe..... EVERYTHING must go to Toronto. My brothers' 2011 BMW gs1200a 12,ooo Kms on it, the rear shock leaked onto his garage floor. As he had crashed his other bike and was not able to walk muchless ride I took it to the dealer for him. 3 weeks ! They had to prove the shock defective ! The oil was on the floor, the bike had not been ridden in a month ! Order the shock from BMW Canada, sorry there is not one in Canada! Order from Germany ! No shock in Canada.... did I mention that! They are too expensive we dont stock them they say. BMW BMW
  3. It says the officer was hit and rode on the hood for a distance, sorry yes that made the car a weapon. It happened in our city about 10 years back, stolen suv driver swerved at the cop trying to stop him and yes the driver ended up dead although it took two of our local pd members many shots to distroy a glass bus shelter hit a passing car and a few other things before finaly breaking the glass of the car and striking the driver. Although a plain clothed leo with no badge showing makes it kinda crazy, yes it could have been an accedent gone bad.
  4. Dislike:it is getting too hard to find find cassets to play in the deck ! only one I could think of.......
  5. I am sure you can find some demos on Youtube but the basics are: Aproch the bike backwards Turn handle bars so the bar closest to you is in the full lock position Bend at the knees, bum toward the ground Grasp the handle bar and the passanger grab bar walk backwards toward the cycle If it is on the right side, make sure you put the kick stand down, if on left, dont go too far. Sounds easy but it is not, if on gravel yup it is more difficult. You can do it, I have seen many vids of 125 lb women doing a lift on a Harley. Be careful Kevin
  6. Oddly Brad my son is also Brad, wears a Tee shirt that says proudly; Math is Hard. He currently has a double honours degree in Physics and Astronomy ie: Astro-physicist. Looking for Master now with a PHD desire. Brian, I don't know why they are heading way out East, I am 3rd generation born in Victoria on my mothers side (2nd on dads) and have little desire to leave other than curiosity but the boys are more adventurous and follow the opportunities as they come with no fear. Saskatchewan is treating Alex well and so why not. Brad had the option of Concordia for Nano Electronics or Manitoba for String Theory research. He has enjoyed the concept of the String Theory for a long time so here he comes.
  7. You might want to consider air bags instead of springs. OR an F150 ! I know it is only :mo money:
  8. Who is in Winnipeg these days? I have a son moving out there at the end of the week to go to U of Man and is looking for a place to live, maybe a smiling face to meet him at the airport. He is going for his Masters in Physics. He gets it from his mother in case you wanted to know.
  9. Brant, I am glad you are with us to tell the story. Bikes even our Ventures can be replaced. You cannot be! I sold my Suzuki gs 500 to my brother a few months back so I could buy a V-Strom. He took it out one sunny afternoon and put it down. He has a couple minor breaks and a lot of road rash as well as lack of flesh on knees and elbows..... It makes me cringe every time I see him, still in shorts and Tee due to the swelling and bandages. He is now about a month post crash and he says the RR is starting to stop itching and making it easier to sleep. We will be here with you as you recover. Kevin
  10. Bill I would love to see how and what you are doing as my '86 requires the same treatment, you have more courage than I!
  11. I am also very saddened by this news. I know I realy do not know Jack but I have followed Condors advice and posts on this site over the last few years. Thoughts are with you and a donation will be going to my local Cancer Society with you and your family in my mind as I do it. Be strong.
  12. glad you are home safe... bikes can be repaired..... we had a crappy weather weekend here on the coast so glad it was not too bad for you guys
  13. Yes Action got the service "contract" if you will but I am unsure that you will see a show room spot for the bikes. Not sure their other lines are willing to give up the square footage to make room for them. A lot of regulations in the contracts to have a dealer ship for a particular brand on display. You cannot just start stuffing them into the same room as KTM or Honda.
  14. I do not understand why no gas? was it power failures or the tankers not travelling? That puzzles me but I am very happy everyone is safe so far. The weather is crazy here as well, not much sun yet lots of rain showers. I hope everyone in Nelson for Cruzin' the Kootneys is good and not too wet. Many roads up that way were washed out or mud slides when my son came through Thursday. Be safe everyone. from the west coast
  15. There is a group of guys around here that ride those... they all have them painted in cool black and white colors and added these real neat looking LED lights that flash real bright in red and blue too. They seam to ride them mostly in parades and stuff but some times you see them blasting around town well over the posted limits showing them off. They seem to like them..... enjoy your new ride.
  16. If you are heading West to Nelson today from Saskatchewan or further, keep an eye open for my son Alex heading back to BC from the oil fields of Saskatchewan and Manitoba for his mothers birthday. He is driving a white Dodge Dakota with BC plates. Blow his mind honk and wave at him. He knows you will be on the road and keeping a closer eye out for you and all riders. Ride safe, wish I was joining you. Kevin
  17. .....since my friend Jana was killed last July. Finally his killer is getting some court time. Her lawyer is playing all the poor me angles.... All I want is this lady behind bars so I do not have to stand on the side of a highway and give another eulogy for a fallen rider. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timescolonist.com%2Fnews%2FWoman%2Bpleads%2Bguilty%2Bfatal%2Bcrash%2F6811255%2Fstory.html&h=XAQHMYCCrAQGBIfUJZmRjK2ws4rF3rV9Le-WML6npTCf_lA
  18. Sorry Sailor, he was likely the old codger I blew by doing 130 on my V-Strom on Long Harbour Road a couple weeks back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :no-no-no: :no-no-no:
  19. I am sure it will "fit" you, my brother has been riding a 1200 gs for 6 years. He is 6'3 and well over 300 lb. He has no issue with his size on it. What he has had issues with was the dependability of his first one... an 06. I have often said the best thing that ever happened to me was him buying a bmw..... I got to ride sooooo many loner bikes from his dealer it was great experience. The 06 I did not like to ride, not my style, he loved it until at around 60,000Km the motor dynamited, a valve broke and destroyed everything internally. He had taken an extended warranty and they paid most of the repairs but ended up trading it for a 2012 gsa model. He still loves his bmw.
  20. I have LED lights simular to those on the rear of both my Venture and now my V-Strom. I have reds wired into both my riding light and my brake light. I purchased a premade kit with connected wiring about 6inch long each although I know the local electronics store sells them by the yard and you wire them up. I love them :mo money:
  21. And here is Nadas' response to value of a 1986 Yamaha Venture Royale, based on a west coast USA location value: I do not know what the cost of collision insurance is where you are but really is it worth the cost? If I crash it, as in my fault, I will fix it or part it depending on how bad it is. If it is covered by your insurance and they say $1125 then that is all folks... you can take the 1125 or take the remains... and you have paid for how many years on the policy....... Excellent $3370 Very Good $2340 Good $1125 Fair $480 Poor N/A
  22. Is there certain types of GPS units to use for motorcycles? I set up my Megelan $150.00 GPS from Canadian Tire on my V-Strom to go for a long new places ride. It started off good then after a couple hours started shutting itself down and "rebooting" then by the time I had found a few gravel roads and many roads that went no place at all I was on the highway to home and it just got into a loop of start up - shut down over and over. Now I think the battery is hooped as now when I unplug it it will not run at all, it used to run 1/2 hour or so. I had it mounted on the wind screen with the suction cup, maybe that is the bad. I know I had a link at one time for solid mounts but was never able to find a 1st gen to Megelan mount and now I have 2 bikes to put it on... what to do now? :mo money: :mo money:
  23. Sailor, I was over on SaltSpring last Wednesday, I brought my new V-Strom over for a mad man run around the island for the day. I rode to Croften to the ferry, found just about every dead end road on the island, visited Ruckel park and jumped a feery back to Victoria. It was spur of the moment thing or I would have let you know. Maybe do it on the Venture second week of July so maybe we can do lunch in Ganges. ooh and what is a Wolo ?
  24. Brian I took my stand when it broke to the machinist a the school district I worked for and he welded it and actually strengthened it up. I had it back at the end of the day and installed that night.
