"Paul" from computer services at Microsoft called me today to tell me I had a virus in my email account and I needed to log on right away and he would send me a link to click and fix it. I will not repeat what I said to him

I have to ride a ferry to find a super slab from here so I don't see many unless traveling and yes I am the same way... if there is a secondary going the same way I will take that. I am having trouble with the company letting me take time off so I may not work much of this summer, hopefully I will get lots of miles under my butt.... with any luck on a second gen.

It would be one heck of a lot cheaper than buying BigTom icecream for a year !

NO I do not intend to start a debate......... I have a question...... 2008 Venture what kind of tires come from the factory and what kind of wear mileage do they get? I know everyone will have an opinion as to whether they are good or bad. I am looking at an 08 with 17,000 Kms on it (about 11,000 miles) and it has the original tires. Kinda tells me they are a hard compound right off but owner says they have about 1/2 life left. Kevin

I wish I could get a good jacket like that for $300 here and $627 for insurance... if it was not for the cold and snow I might move to Alberta! And you have no PST! Add 12% to everything here!

Like ScaryLarry said...... I know about the not getting younger, I worked for a heating contractor that paid well. Here all the labour code says we all get a min of 2 weeks holidays and after 10 years you get a third... plus the "Statutory Holidays" are all paid some unions get even more holidays. But working for the contractor on call 24/7 at times. I gave it up for about $5.00 an hour less to go work in a plant that is supposed to be better hours and less overtime. At this point in life you gotta think of the big picture... time off is probably the biggest bonus you can get as you get older... believe it or not but time with the other half gets more valuable every day..... oooh yeah and more time to ride as well. I was with heating company 18 years... they helped me get all the trade tickets and they were always good to their staff for a mom and pop shop but a time comes when you can no longer work like you are 20 anymore. Think of you first, the other half is part of you. If the other job is secure go for it.

That is just how it goes around here sometimes.... one minute being nice and.... I am going to say it.... Normal. The next minute pygmies and pond monsters..... you don't get the connection you just have not been here long enough yet.... eat more Ice Cream fast and it all starts to make sense. And Boomer..... I have missed you and the pygmies..... where you been?

Nothing would beat our old 73 VW van when the snow fell.... well unless you wanted heat or a defroster or any other creature comfort. I have a newer S-10 style Jimmy 4x4 with good set of winter rated tires I run 365, great in ice and snow but a bit slick on hot pavement. We visit family at the lake in the summer and there is a lot of logging road driving to get there... I feel good in the Jimmy but Subaru will likely be its replacement when time comes. I do spend more time on two wheels (some motorized some not) than four so my cars last.

I have always felt that the "safety chrome" is always a loss when reselling be it a car or motorcycle... totally agree. I am hoping 5,000. It is going to cost me 1,000 to go get it and bring it home with airplane hotel fuel and permit to ride it plus inspection to register it from out of Province.

Yes I did shoot the 10,000 $ midnight around.... it is tempting but you know, I have never even ridden a second gen.... I may not even like it. So that is why I took SilvrTs advice and went looking again. 5 grand is not as much to risk on a trial thing, I may love it I may hate it but it looks like a good bike to try out. I sent the owner an email asking about tires and brakes. I agree a bike that has been ridden is likely been well cared for long run. roughly 7000 miles a year for a bike in Alberta is a lot of riding. considering they likely just have a 6 month season there at best. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm noting in particular about the '01 year...... maybe worth an airplane ride then when I can.

but need some smarter answers than I am getting from myself....... 2001 Venture a bit older that I wanted but a good price I think... comments welcome. http://vancouver.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-2001-Yamaha-Royal-Star-W0QQAdIdZ406087551 167000 Kilometers is about 104000 miles.

think of it this way.... going to be cheaper than my brothers 2012 BMW GS1200A shock.... shock cost was 3,000 $ plus install and 2 weeks to come from Germany.... thank someone for warranty.

Well......... someone had to dang it! -
My favorite number is 86 but you don't look THAT old.........

I agree with Clive, if I was you I would be very happy someone else paid for that wheel.... it is beautiful but lost behind the rotors. See if you can sell it and if not you have a good spare tire and the value of scrap aluminum is quite high these days!

Stator Replacement Procedure
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks Clive I knew I could trust you to make all the mistakes so I would not have to! One question.... well two..... when would you like to come and do mine? And I guess the one you will likely answer politely ...... if the bike was standing instead of laying down is it less likely to drop these pins into the unknown? Is it a better idea for a novice to stand it up? Hopefully a moderator can consider making this a sticky. -
Someone had to say it! :mo money:

DragonRider, I would like to thank you for all you do for St. Jude. We live a long way apart but what you do is now helping a family from our community here in Victoria BC Canada. Little Baby Molly Campbell is in St Jude from here in Victoria at JUST 2 years of age fighting a second time for her life battling cancer and St. Jude is her only and last hope. Thank you for what you do and for helping Baby Molly and her family in their hour of need. Kevin

RR, I had to pick my big Brother up from the ER last summer after he took "a minor fall" in his words... imagine a 300+ lb man on a 500cc Suzuki (stupid to start) doing 40 mph hitting the ground. He had full face helmet... destroyed and ground down.... Joe Rocket jacket worn though the elbows and the back, holes in HIS elbows to the bone, knees through his jeans the same as elbows, his BMW duel sport riding boots wore the metal slider pads and most of the buckles off. That is just at 40 mph! AGATT..... yup it is a personal choice.... every time I think about getting on one of the bikes in Jeans I think of big brother in the ER, closest I have been to throwing up in a long time ..... my choice.

If the trunk is in use when we are traveling we used to use them, our new helmets do not have D rings so now I keep a good adjustable cable lock with me to put through the face and lock the helmets and/or our jackets to the bike. As a lock smith put it too me not too long ago.... locks only keep the honest honest. If they are out to steal they will steal. If they cut the strap the helmet will be useless so they are likely doing to be that which was mentioned earlier.
