As it was put to me once, a lock is there just to keep the hounest hounest, it they are going to steal it the $2.00 lock that will fit the case is not going to stop them but if it is just an opertunity they may take it..... had a lot of cars around our place ransacked but they were all cars that had been left unlocked. My son had used my Jimmy and guess left it unlocked, all the glove boxes and storage areas pulled out but all my CDs were still there..... does knowone but me like Billy Joel and Meatloaf?

Whicjh would be better? Solar vs 110 volt?
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
I have changed my outdoor lights, porch, driveway and back yard floods to new 110V LED and they are fantastic, low amperage draw means you can piggy back them with another fixture such as garage door opener or an outlet with very little concern. The floods make the old 100 floods look like night lights. All I have ever seen of the solar outdoor lights they are next to useless, and yes I bet that the cold makes them worse. -
My spousal unit asked this question of me...
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to GAWildKat's topic in Watering Hole
I am sure I had seen threads here in the past from folks that had mounted a unit in the front fearing and was connected to their horn. You honk your horn as you approach and the door opens... or as you leave and it closes..... What tx2sturgis posted is the idea sorta. -

NOT motorcycle related.. Need car transmission help.
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to cb1313's topic in Watering Hole
"old school" tells me in the back of my head that there is about 11 quarts of fluid in a trans.... most of which is in the torque converter. Some converters do have a drain plug so you have to remove inspection plate and spin motor around to see if you do. It is not the Water that will do the damage it is the coolant..ie anti freeze. I agree defiantly lose the factory cooler in the rad and install external cooler. I had heard of these GM coolers doing this. Seafoam cannot hurt but I would drain out all you could even before you added seafoam and fired it up. -
You sure as heck ain't riding anyplace soon! -29 C plus wind chill. My son is at UofM

I tried using the suction cup on my motorcycles and two things happened: First it leaves a round suction cup mark on the windshield, I know it should not, why would it, it does. Second, the first GPS I put on the windshield and took on a long ride shook it's self to death. Started out by rebooting as I was riding to finally after two days on the road just dropped dead. No rain or anything like that, just vibration. Buy the Ram Mount it is worth it.

This was some lane splitting by an close to home here. The bike was an R1 registered to his mother, it was impounded with proof it was THE bike involved, there is chips in the paint that appear on the video they proved to be on the bike they seized, it was sold at auction, mother was given about 1,000 $ in fines as well as she is the registered owner. It took a few months but the son was later charged with being the operator of the bike but that has not been proven in court as yet. Word is that the son posted the video and bragged about it on one of the local motorcycle forums. The top speed in the video is 299 Kph which equals 185.79 Mph:buttkick::buttkick: It turned out that the provincial government here had been considering permitting lane splitting until this showed on YouTube. r-1 brake up grade
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to crowrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
So if I am understanding this correctly, I cannot just swap out my "stock" 86 calibers with the R 1 or R6 calibers and leave my existing lines and set up as is. I would need to change to matching brake lines? -
Carbon One has a Birthday today everyone have a I am allergic but I am with you on the sentiment ! Happy Birthday

Rick I walked past it and never even looked..... what was the price tag on it do you recall? It was good to see you and Nina at the bike show, Lori checked out the Coast Rider pamphlet and thought it was cool. Hope to see you two again soon. What I did spend a lot of time with was the Vulcan Voyager. The only real down side if there is one is the 1700 Vtwin. I do love the V4. http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Product-Specifications.aspx?scid=7&id=723 The Voyager has all the front fairings that the 2nd Gen seems to have lost.

It is the same as my '86 MkII Standard. The paint changes color in the sun light.... mine had 11,000 K on it when I found it, up about 37,000 now.

New Clutch...success!

Go by the tire,,,,, NOT the car door ! The car door has no idea what kind of tires you have under it. By the way, how you checked the tires this time is the best way to test them if it is not raining then wet the driveway and drive car into garage and look at the print it leaves... it should look the same as the tire tread. Way too many people adjusting after market tires by OEM rating tag.... that is wrong.

What does it cost to have your Drivers Licence renewed?
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
The enhanced DL permits me to travel across the Canada/ US Boarder without my passport when I travel by road or ferry between the two countries. AS I love to take off on nice summer days and trip over to Washington State to ride the fantastic roads there, this saves me taking my passport. I have always worried about what to do with my passport when I got off my bike to walk a beach or hike the trails of a beautiful park I find on my travels between the two countries. I feel keeping my drivers licence in my pocket will be safer than leaving the passport in my motorcycle. And of course now they announced that staring next month the licence will be doubly enhanced as it will start also serving as our government medical services card, that may become just a cash grab there but I see their point behind doing it. Now your medical card will have to be renewed and will have your photo on it to help prevent fraud. -
all well here but my wife only had 2 of her 7 daycare kids today.... all sick.

kevin-vic-b.c. replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
$75 for the five years and an extra $50 for the Enhanced version last week. -
Not just a winter problem... I had a Suzuki gs500... it was for the kids to ride you know.... and one of the daycare kids my wife looks after dropped a piece of sidewalk chalk down the pipe. Well chalk does not really burn but with a cup of warm water added and soaked over night, then a long ride we never saw that chalk again. But be aware at all times, you never know.

I put LED strips on the back of my V-Strom that I bought at a local auto parts store. They are flat with 3M sticky tape on back, pre-wired with about 5 ft of wire and I put heat and shrink over the wires. The black heat shrink all but disappears on my black saddle bag rails so should be easy enough to hide on the 2nd Gens. I would bet they are 26 gauge wire.... no bigger.
