The styrofoam inside the helmet will harden over time and become more brittle resulting in less protection in a crash. Press on the interior with your finger in a couple different areas to see if there's still some give in the foam. If you hear crunching noises, you're way past over due for a new helmet. Also, dropping the helmet does not warrant replacement of the helmet unless you damage the shell.

Ive seen lots of tires blow up. I worked in a truckstop for 9 years. You should get about 70psi of air in a semi tire and have it let loose!! Rattles the windows in the entire building and the air pressure push knocks the air out of you if you're within a 10 foot radius. My first BFG set the bead at around 40psi. The Federal tire popped while trying to seat the beads. A tire shop mounted that one up for me. The tire/wheel assembly jumped about 15 feet in the air when it let loose. The Kuhmo held over 120psi. I used a clip on chuck and a 50 foot hose once the pressure got above 50psi and set the tire outside.

When I had a Metzler on the back, I ran it at 50psi. I don't go by the motorcycle manufacturer's recommendations, I go by the tire manufacturer's.

My First Real Evaluation
flb_78 replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I average a real 28-30mpg. My daily commute is 124 miles round trip running between 70-80mph with some "bursts" of spirited riding. I have to fill up everyday. -
Ive got about 12,000 miles on my current set of standard NGK's. Gas mileage is still the same as when they were new. Last time my plugs were changed, it was rather easy. I went to Jerry W's spring maintenance day and let him do it!!! The best tools for removing the spark plugs seem to be the in the factory tool kit.

I own 2 of them, both chambered in .22lr. The nice one is a Golden Boy. 20" octagon heavy barrel. Shoots like a dream. It can also shoot 22shorts which is nice for fun shooting. The shorts are quieter then a BB gun. I picked up and abused Henry 22 lever in a trade. The blueing is completely worn off and it was rusty. I cleaned it up and the bore is fine so I just keep it oiled up pretty heavy to fight the rust but it shoots fine. I picked it up so I wouldn't shoot the Golden Boy as much and scratch it up. Later this week Im trading for another Henry 22 lever that had about 25 rounds shot through it. I'll probably pick one up in 30-30 and 17hmr soon.

Howdy, Unfortunately, there are no tires that are known to fit a 1st gen wheel. Some have contemplated mounting up a wheel from a V-Max onto a 1st gen so that a 15" tire, like on the 2nd gens, can be ran, but no one has done it that I know of.

Honda ST1100 or Kawasaki Concours 1000. Both can be had used for around 3000 for a decent one.

I just use the sting repairs and carry a small air compressor marketed by Slime. I bought it at WalMart for $15 http://www.findgascards.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/412rv13odql__sl500_aa280_.jpg

I never said that the arrows weren't important. I said that if you use a rear tire in the front, the tire rotation should be reversed so that it matches the tread design of a front tire. Of course the tire manufactures do not state this because they do not recommend running a rear tire on the front wheel to begin with.
-
The tread direction is different from front tires to rear. I understand this. I also realize that usually the tread patterns are opposite of each other so if one was to choose to run a rear tire on the front, they would need to flip the direction of rotation so that the pattern would be similar to a front tire. also, which part is bad information that Im sharing?
-
I hear this all the time on forums, but I can't ever recall reading it from a tire manufacturer, particularly in a bias ply tire. I know that in semitruck tires, that Bridgestone taught us that the steer, drive, and trailer carcasses were all the same, the only difference was in the tread pattern that is attached to the carcass. But then again, I haven't done a lot of research into bias ply motorcycle tire technology either. The only reason that I know of to change the direction of rotation is so that the tread pattern rotates in the proper direction for the wheel position.

We ended up with around 12-14inches of snow. That's a lot for these parts. It has pretty much shut the Texas Panhandle down.
-
I help moderate the forum in my signature and first hand experience showed me how quick a thread can turn bad and if someone isn't right there to handle it, it gets deep quick. I try not and question how someone runs their board nowadays. No need to explain what or why or how it's ran.

up to 6.5 inches now and still coming hard.
-
I thought this crap didn't happen in Texas. Of course everything's BIGGER in Texas so we can't just get snow that you can drive on, it had to rain all night first and then sleet for 4 hours so there's a 1/2 inch of solid ice on everything!! We're supposed to end up with 12-18" of snow.
-
That's what's missing. I knew something was up when I checked my previous posts and it showed I hadn't posted in a couple of days. I wonder what happened, It seemed to be going good for the first 2 pages.

I doubt a 2.5 year old valve stem is going to covered under warranty. When you have it changed out, have them install metal valve stems. Much more durable then rubber ones.
-
They actually already have this. It's called Equal Tire Balancing. It's a powder that is put in the tire through the valve core and is supposed to balance the tire. It seems to work ok until you top off your tires with wet air, then it clumps up and really messes things up. We used this at the semitruck dealer that I used to work for. We put it in every tire on all of our lease equipment. http://www.imiproducts.com/equal/index.aspx I worked for Petro Stopping Centers for 9 years and we sold Centramatic balancers. I know they did work. They were bolted on between the wheel and the drum and used steel shoot to balance the tire. I always recommended to customers to have an initial mechanical balance when the tire was first installed. Most of my customers had very few out of balance issues over the life of tires (100,000-150,000 miles)if they followed my advice and used the Centramatics. And now I need to thank you for making me look up Centramatics website because they now offer tire balancers for Honda Goldwings. They even have a neat little video showing how it works. http://www.centramatic.com/Home.aspx
