Dan, lay off the pain pills or you'll end up like Limbaugh.

It's just a kit, not an entire new motorcycle. If it doesn't lean, it's silly to put motorcycle tires all the way around it. I'd be intrigued with Busa based reversed leaning trike though.

I actually had to read it twice to understand what you pointed out. Now I feel silly...

Helmet laws and seat belt laws should be a personal choice. Also, insurance should also offer policies that have separate rates depending on your choice. Policy A. The insured agrees to use a helmet/seat belt, in doing so rates will be $200/year. If the insured is involved in an incident and is not using the helmet/seat belt, property damages will be covered up to the policy's limits, but medical expenses will not be covered. Policy B. The insured choices to not use helmet/seat belt, in doing so rates will be $600/year. If the insured is involved in an incident, property and medical coverage will be provided up to the policy's limits. Simple as that, let people decide what they wish to do instead of mandating it.

The micron rating isn't low enough I bet. Plus, have you ever tried to clean a scouring pad? It'll be the same way to clean the media in that. I wouldn't use one.

I had an XJ1100 I used to park on the centerstand, but the wind blew it over a couple times. After that, I always parked it on the side stand.

Im really surprised that someone would loan money on an 18 year old bike without some sort of collateral.

Yep, that's a bad thing trying to get into someone's vehicle nowadays. I do believe this would have ended differently in some other states.

Passing Lights vs No Passing Lights
flb_78 replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I took mine off. I think the front end looks better on the Venture without them. I bought my bike used and whoever installed the lights installed them as the manual says to do and tapped into the headlight circuit. When the driving lights were on, the headlight dimmed considerably and light output was actually decreased. I also took them off because I was tired of removing them to get inside the fairing.- 37 replies

Are you wearing cotton or wool socks? I only wear wool socks now. I wear them year round. Cotton socks hold moisture on your feet. Wool pulls it away. Merino wool is good stuff. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=441042 I get em at Sam's Club now. I used to buy them online. Many outdoors stores carry these as well now. SmartWool has one of the first brands on the market that I was aware of. Also, pee on your feet in the shower.

What a waste of a great barn find 1959 BelAire. The test I'd like to see is to drive each one into a telephone pole at 10mph. See which one drives away and which one will have to towed off to a body shop with $10,000 worth of body damage and blown airbags. Cars may be safer, but they cost much more then what they need to because of all the extra "safety features".

you're the one calling the "help desks" and then calling them idiots??? This post was made in jest and poking funny, nothing was serious about this post.

Maybe Im blind, but I don't see a way to edit a classified once it's posted. I found this thread, but I think the software has changed since then. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32364]Edit A Classified Ad - VentureRider.Org[/ame]

You'll just have to play with the pressures and find what works for your bike. Im running 32 in my Kumho right now. No wobble up to 100mph. My BFG I ran at 40.

Are the cheaper John Deere lawn tractors any good?
flb_78 replied to midnightventure's topic in Watering Hole
I work for a John Deere dealer, but Im not familiar enough with the lawn mowers to give an educated answer. The only real advantage I see is that the Deere dealer will actually be able to perform warranty service unlike buying 1 from Home Depot or WalMart.- 8 replies

It was a Banks Truck. A Dodge Dakota with a cummins in it. They drove it to the salt flats, raced it, and drove it back while pulling a trailer to and fro. http://www.bankspower.com/projects/show/3-Sidewinder-Dakota

For the fuel mileage increase and extra torque. A company converts a Kawasaki KLR650 to diesel and it gets 96mpg, but currently, it's only available to the military. http://www.motorbikestoday.com/features/Articles/diesel_bikes.htm http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/24/automobiles/24KAWASAKI.html

That's not true. The best performance and efficiency come at where the torque and horsepower curves intersect. Many on the board have actually done the opposite of what you want to do and put a lower final drive in out of a V-max to raise their highway revs and it hasn't affected their fuel mileage, but they have more power because the engine is in the power band.

The synthetic blend Rotella in the blue bottle now carries the JASO-MA spec for use in motorcycles.

Well, if you were to read the manual, you'd know these bikes actually have a double overdrive. 4th gear is a slight overdrive and 5th gear is somewhere around a 30% overdrive. These engines need to rev. Coming off a Harley, you're used to running under 2000rpm most of the time. This engine will cruise at 5000rpm all day with no troubles. 3rd gear will get ya to 85mph.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and ruffle some feathers. The Colonel lived out in the country where he could do whatever he wanted. His family talks him into selling his country house and move into town so they can keep an eye on him. He moves into a HOA community and signs the paperwork giving up his private property rights to the HOA. He then violates the contract which he just signed with them. I'm siding with the HOA on this one. I hate HOA's. I think it's absurd that anyone should be able to tell me what I can and cannot do with my own property, but if one wishes to live in a neighborhood where everyone cuts their grass to the same height and no one is allowed to park along the curb to give the impression of a nice neighborhood, I can't then side with them because they don't like all the rules and choose to break them.
