  1. Yup, Poor maintenance on my part. All better now though, new used driveshaft and a new used final drive, some moly infused lithium soap based grease and a drizzle of 85w140 gear oil fixed the problem. Sorry for the bad pic. My camera doesn't like closeups even on the closeup setting, but I think you can still see the wear on the splines. The final drive looks like they've all been pushed over.
  2. Check your voltage while it's trying to crank. The short may have drained the battery or if the battery was older, caused it to crap out.
  3. He's asking if he needs to synch the throttle bodies or carbs on his Suzuki V-twin M95.
  4. If it has 2 throttle bodies, you still have to sync the throttle bodies to each other.
  5. Most do, but not all. I know one of the v-stars has 2 carbs, but the Roadstars only had 1.
  6. Actually, it is normal. The oil light is not a pressure light, but an oil level light. Under hard acceleration, the oil will slosh back and the sensor will trip the light momentarily. Nothing to worry about.
  7. Yep, most likely the hose is clogged up. Check out the cowl on the passenger side and there should be a drain hanging down. Shoot some air up it and that usually fixes the problem for a year or two.
  8. That's an old photo that circulated the gun boards last year or the year before. They chased it down to the original posting on one board and the story was he rolled his own and used the wrong powder. I forget the specifics on it but it was in Alaska if I remember correctly.
  9. Good luck finding batteries for it!! Quad A's can be a pain to find. I bought a bulk pack off eBay.
  10. Im assuming he's referring to a hidden amplified AM/FM antenna, not a CB antenna. 11. Can you post a picture of the connector? Sounds like a standard Molex but I could be wrong.

dang, I could of used the front fairing, inner and outer...
  13. Just ordered a used one from Pinwall for $40 shipped. Hopefully they can find my new address here in Kentucky because I can still just barely find it!!!
  14. Well, Finally took the time and tore it down. Found that where the drive shaft splines into the final drive unit no longer has splines in it. Luckily, I have an extra final drive unit so a quick search on ebay will get me a replacement shaft and hopefully I'll be mobile fairly quickly!!
  15. 8 oil filters will last 8 years? There for a couple months I once doing an oil change a month!!
  16. the AIS is an Air Injection System. It passively injects fresh air into the exhaust to burn off unburned hydrocarbons (gasoline) to make Al Gore happy. As a result, there is often a popping noise in the exhaust from the carbs not being tuned exactly perfect. Instead of retuning the carbs, many plug the AIS so the unburned hydrocarbons just vent to atmosphere through the exhaust, which makes Al Gore sad.
  17. I still have the same phone number so your texts should be coming through, but I haven't received any from ya.
  18. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49424 Did you miss this thread? I moved here.
  19. yessir, I was thinking the u-joint as well or a possibly snapped drive shaft. Im really hoping it's the final drive though as I have an extra in the moving container when it shows up.
  20. Tooling along I-64 in Southern Indiana near exit 39 and my Venture quit moving forward. Engine still runs, but bike will not move forward. Bought a trailer at tractor supply and found a pickup to tow it the rest of the way to Waynesburg, KY. Im not moved in yet and I have not had a chance to check out the problem, but when the bike is in gear, there is a terrible noise either coming from the middle gear section or the final drive itself. It's so loud that I cannot tell where it's coming from yet. This was done on the side of the interstate waiting on help. Well anywho, I'm in Kentucky now in a motel waiting for some lectricity at the house. Once I get moved and settled in, I'll tear into the bike. 99 Venture with 99,600 miles on it.
  21. I think you mechanic is BS's ya about the pulleys. Belts break because they're too tight. Almost everyone adjusts them wrong. It needs to be adjusted while the bike is loaded down with rider, passenger and gear. When you're off the bike, the belt should be very loose. I know 1 guy that ran his belt so loose that he never had to move his adjusters when he changed his rear tire, he could just slip the belt around the pulley. He had 60,000 miles on his original belt when he traded his bike in.
  22. If she's looking for a Venture, I know where there's one about 130 miles away from ya for sale, rather cheap. It's a little rough with almost 100,000 miles on it, but it still runs just fine.
  23. I know that the Roadstars have an electric fuel pump on them and people were removing them, but they had to change some parts and readjust the carb. http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/163/1/
  24. Ive been in Texas going on 8 years now. Im originally from southern/central Illinois, the Effingham area. I've become accustomed to the dry heat and when I go back to Illinois, the humidity kills me.
