  1. Here ya go.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14
  2. That was a pretty hard hit. So hard that the stripes on the road moved at the point of impact...
  3. Can you take pictures of both tires, left and right and tell us which side was pointing forward? Just looking at 1 picture of 1 tire leaves a lot to be questioned.
  4. You'll have a wide range of opinions on this one. I've personally ran a plugged tire with no problems. BUT... Being that your tire is almost new, I would pull it off and patch it from the inside with a plug/patch. You'll probably be hard pressed to find a dealer that will repair a motorcycle tire though and you'll have to do it yourself. http://www.i-car.com/graphics/about_icar/current_events/advantage/2002/online_advantge_0218/full_size/fig_3.jpg
  5. Not really. Depends on how far you want to take it. The bolts that actually hold the switch down are twist off anti-tamper and thread locked in. I also disassembled the new one and installed my old tumbler so I wouldn't need 2 keys. Here's how the ignition switch can be bypassed. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32359 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=512
  6. Yup, switch replacement is in your imminent future. Mine did the same thing. Take the switch apart and you'll find the contacts are burnt in the far right position.
  7. No no no... Can't ask anyone to be self reliant.
  8. As a former service manager, Im on the side of the shop. If they had customers booked up and are 2 weeks behind, why should they put off regular customers who are patiently waiting and made appointments? Maybe if it was a blown out tire and an emergency repair that would leave one stranded, but for regular routine maintenance that should be planned?
  9. It's the fuel pump. Nothing to worry about.
  10. That was a pretty hard impact. It was so hard that the stripes on the road moved.....
  11. That is extremely lucky. I'd hate to imagine what would have happened if he had been sitting on it and texting. I might be a bit morbid but I started thinking about what parts I'd like to get off that bike. I need a new chrome piece under the windshield...
  12. A/C systems are not supposed to leak. Is that fella going to give you a nation wide warranty if it doesn't work again in 90 days? It's not uncommon for the shaft seal on the compressor to start leaking and when it does, the compressor will need replaced. If you replace the compressor, you should also replace the accumulator/receiver drier, and the orfice tube/expansion valve, otherwise, many places will not warranty a new compressor if it fails again. It's not uncommon for an A/C job on a car/truck/semi to run $1000 or more if it's repaired properly with warranty. Ive seen hundreds of A/C jobs run other that while working at the truck shop and the components are the same as a cars. If we had a customer that only wanted a faulty compressor and replaced without the drier or expansion valve, their warranty lasted until they pulled out of the shop. Now me personally, Id buy a can or r134a at Walmart with the hose and gauge and fill it up myself. That's what I do on the wife's car with her small leak that Im too cheap to fix.
  13. What kind of MP3 player are you using now? Maybe there is a 12 volt cord you could use to keep it playing. Also, what about a cigarette lighter MP3 player that transmits to the FM radio? You wouldn't be able to control the MP3 player so you would have to load the SD card the way you would want to listen to it. 14. +1 The chains aren't to protect you, it's to protect everyone else on the road.
  15. you'll shoot yourself in the ..........!!!! http://bradleyaharmon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/RedRiderBBgun.jpg
  16. Walmart has an unlimited prepay plan. Unlimited minutes, unlimited web, unlimited text for $45/month. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Straight-Talk-Unlimited-Minute-Unlimited-Text-Message-Unlimited-Data-30-Day-Service-Card/11604093 Im on a ATT plan that's pretty good, but the total cost is split up between 5 of us and brings the cost down.
  17. Also, you should check out http://www.TexasCHLForum.com Anything you could ever want to know about CHL in Texas. I just moved to Kentucky from Texas so my CHL is no good now and I have to be a resident of KY for 6 months before I can apply for my license, but Kentucky is an open carry state which works for me!! http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3294&d=1279572861
  18. There's a vendor that sells those at the local gun shows in Amarillo. It doesn't work to well in my opinion. Not very easy to draw from to me. Plus, I wear my jeans lower under my gut so I wear my belt pretty tight. but having a gun that's a little difficult to access is better than none at all.

  20. Dang, you should have offered it for a straight across trade or a trade plus some cash for a low mileage unit here on the forum unless you were just wanting a 2nd final drive as a spare. After reading about Red Rider's troubles with his unit at 85K miles, I think it would be wise to tear it down to reseal it and check for wear.
  21. It's very possible the initial set of tires were crap, but what are the odds that the set from WalMart were crap as well? If I read this correctly, this is the 2nd set that have worn out exactly the same way.
  22. Obviously the throttle stuck wide open!!! It was a Toyota!!
  23. How full was your fuel tank? If it is full and you park it in the sun, it can push some fuel out of the overflow as the sun heats up the tank and expands the gasoline.
