Ok who sells the Kenda Kruz tires and can you get them in WWW? I just bought another set of Dunlop 404's WWW after getting 11,000 miles out of my stock rear and still good tread on the front one. I could probably get another 2000 out of the rear but want the WWW on before Vogel. Dog

I too am partial to the two-tone paint scheme. If I were to repaint my Midnight Venture it would have to be two-tone. I think it really sets off the lines of the bike better. I don't really care for the 07 blue/black but there are plenty of other combinations! http://www.moonshinesteel.com/images/choppersmiley.gif Dog

Kbran and I will be installing the Flanders bars on my bike this Wednesday before the big ride to Vogel along with replacing my tires and brakes. I sure am looking forward to the added comfort of the riding position to my arms with the new bars and I think that the radiantz LED tail light will be added to my list of must gets! Thanks, Dog

I know fuel mileage on these big behemoths really is bad! Running fuel through 4 carbs really eats it up. On my Harley I could get 50 mpg with a single carb and the V-twin at 70 mph but, the Venture gets about 34 tops! Perhaps some day they will go to fuel injection as we have been saying in here for some time! Dog

HD pipes and a loss of power
Mean Dog replied to Moakster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No Bill I did not notice any difference at all. I have a 2006 Midnight RSV and like I said it just raised the noise level out the pipes and that is it! I did nothing to the carbs other than sync them and it needed that anyway! Dog -
Cruise Control Problem
Mean Dog replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I noticed that my bike would do the same thing as you described. If I set the cruise while the bike was accelerating this cured the problem for me. Dog -
Nancy has never complained about heat on her legs on the back but boy does it ever get hot on the rider in traffic! Especially in 100 degree heat we have here in Mississippi! Dog

NOT happy, need parts.

James, Man that Sucks! I am so sorry to hear of your trouble painting the bike. I did a paint job on a customer car one time and applied the first coat of clear. It looked like a mirror finish. I went to get a cup of coffee and to let the paint flash and when I returned I found that the entire car had frosted white due to the humidity and incorect reducer temp. I feel your pain my brother! It can be fixed with time and sandpaper but it is a royal pain! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_25.gif Dog -
I keep 5 lbs in the front and 30 lb in the rear riding single and 40 lb if riding double or pulling the trailer. 0 lb will bottom out with me riding single at the 330 lbs that I am......LOL. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_19_2.gif Dog

HD pipes and a loss of power
Mean Dog replied to Moakster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I installed the slant cut HD pipes off of a HD Ultra Classic that had all the baffles removed. If you looked through the mufflers you saw a 2" hole all the way through. I noticed no difference in power or fuel mileage. All I gained was the better look on the lines of the saddle bags and the sound of a v-8 motor. Dog -
I read all the time about folks getting poor mileage on Dunlop 404's. I have over 10,000 miles on my 06 MRSV and if it weren't for trying to ride to Ft.Collins I could probably get another 3,000 out of them around here. "Giggles rides a good bit with me and I do pull the trailer on occasion". Here in Mississippi almost all of our roads are the old cheap tar-n-chip cover ups. You know they spray tar and then just sprinkle crushed rock over it. So I'd say 90% of my riding has been on these type of roads. You would think that these are the worst type of roads for tire wear. The rear is showing signs of cupping now but, still rides smooth. I just bought another set of 404's WWW to put back on the bike to see how they look and last. I will probably keep my old ones and through them back on sometime to run them out. If I don't like the WWW's I will probably try either the Commanders or another brand just to try something different. Dog

Darn James, I know my mind is gone now! I thought when I sped-red this that it said "maybe at a park or cemetery located volunteers house"......LOL http://img1.jurko.net/avatar_2109.gif Dog

Well it didn't happen to me but it was funny none the less. Back in my Bar hoppin' days (early 70's) living in West Virginia the main street through town was door to door bars in a town called Weirton. I had a sweet Honda 750 chopper and it was Badd $$$. I had a 900 cc kit on it, a raked out springer front end, Ames softail frame, mag wheels, 2 rectangle over /under headlights on front, a king and queen seat, bobbed rear fender, custom paint and a 4'sissy bar with an iron cross tail light. A friend of mine had a BSA lightning. He and I were hitting the bars one after another down through town. At about 3AM we decided to ride home (pretty hammered) and we're hitting every red light riding up through town. At this particular light I was on the right side of him as he pulled up to stop. It seemed like a long time just sitting there and then his bike fell over to the right pinning him to the pavement. He almost hit my bike with his head on the way down. I asked him what the H##L he was doing and he just started laughing. I pulled my bike to the curb and picked his bike off of him. Good thing there was no traffic at 3AM. Pulling his to the curb and then attempting to pick him up we discovered that he had broken his leg. I drug him to the curb and called my wife to come get us (she was not a happy camper). A cop pulled up and asked us what we were doing and we told him that we were waiting on my wife to come get us cause we were too inebriated to ride! We didn't mention his broken leg though! The wife carried him to the hospital and I rode my bike home then she brought me back to get his. "The good ole' days" Dog

First off welcome to the site! I answered you in another forum about Got Gear in Jackson. I live between Carthage and Philadelphia in Madden, MS and have a 2006 MRSV. Unless you have some deep problems, anything can be pretty much answered and repaired by yourself or others right here! No sense paying the big labor bills if it isn't necessary! Glad to have you with us! Mark

This is the alternative that I used on my RSV until I reciently put on a set of ISO grips. Grip Puppies at $7.50 a set they worked great and a throttle rocker fit them perfectly. http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GPLARGE&Category_Code=Hand-Cont Dog

Here is a question for all the electrical engineers we have on the site. Since I am having trouble locating a trailer isolator to tow the trailer I just got with independent turn signals and brake lights at a somewhat reasonable cost, would it be possible to just hard wire individual diodes into each wire to protect the bike from shorts that could occur in the trailer? The trailer lights would still power from the original bike lighting but, would this not protect it from a back-feed situation blowing fuses on the bike? Since I have no idea what amperage standard 1156 and 1157 bulbs pull, I would need to know what diodes to use that would accommodate the 12 Volts and the amperage draw but, I don't see why it would not work. I know many have just hard wired their trailers straight but, I suppose I am the cautious type. Diodes would be cheap insurance I believe and they cost little at Radio Shack. I thought about just installing them in-line and covering with heat-shrink. Perhaps installing them into a very small project box would be better. What do you all think? Dog

Hey Don, I just installed mine from Diamond R last week and they didn't appear to be stainess steel to me. I could possibly be wrong but they looked like reqular carbon steel so I painted them. Dog

I have the answer to that question! The holes were designed by an engineer at the Yamaha production facility to accommodate Carbon One's great jack adapter.... Sorry, I couldn't resist! :rotf: Dog

Some pile of rocks indeed there Yammer. I used to transport prisoners there and I didn't like the looks of the place then, and don't care much for it now! I had heard that they proposed making a shopping center in it due to it being in the center of town. It is some fortress though! Dog
