I just got my new headset from www.wingstuff.com today. They said that the headset would be here on the 12th, they were right! They were easy to install once I got the other set out. I did connect it to the RSV and tried the stereo through them. They sounded better than the ones I paid $120 for at Yama. I tried the intercom and the mike does not seem as sensitive at the old set. This may be a good thing, I won't be sure until I can get out on the road and try the CB and intercom with Momma. Both sets are J&M but, these sure seem to be better quality. The other set fit entirely into the helmet, including the mic boom, this one clamps to the bottom of the helmet. This is a great price on them guys and I suggest getting them. I will probably order another set for Momma after Christmas is over with. Dog http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/x0/madnoel.gif

Hey Dray, Since I have two bikes, I'll bring them both to your house and you and I can invite everyone there. We will disassemble them and clean the parts individually....what ya think? Then we can reassemble them and have them squeeky clean! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/aiw/tomato.gif Dog http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/i/santa2.gif

Well let us know how it works for you. It sounds as though the detail shop is under way!.....LOL....I just might turn my garage into a kitchen. :) Mark

Ok, I will switch to the original pledge after this can is empty...LOL I do believe you about the bee sting thing.... But, I have to admit it sure made the bike look nice. I also read somewhere about using mop-n-glow on the black plastic of the dashboards and stuff, especially on the first generations. They say not to use it on your tires though. Like I said Go-Jo hand cleaner works really well to loosen the bug guts off your windshield and all other parts. Dray was good enough to show me a previous post on this subject: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...ghlight=pledge Perhaps we need to start another Forum just for detailing our bikes where we could put all our ideas and found information, what works, what doesn't? Sounds like a winner to me. I just wanted to pass the information along as I am all for saving money. Now I have to find a substitute for S-100.......LOL Dog

Well, I had read about using Lemon Pledge on bikes at some other sites. I tried it today on the 06 RSV and behold, it worked great! I have been using Honda Spray Polish and hear that they are discontinuing it. (It worked great for me too.) I used the Pledge all over the bike including the windshield and it shines like it did when I saw it on the show room floor. Hey $3.00 a can beats $5.50 in my book any day! And it sure makes the bike smell good! I don't know if it will clean the bugs off like Honda Polish but, we will see. I also use Go-Jo hand cleaner (Creamy Type) on my other bikes windshield and it covers up or seems to remove all the little scratch marks and swirls in it that you see when riding into the sun. Just rub it on the windshield with my fingers and wipe it with a terry-cloth towel. Dog

I sure hope that they do! I just ordered a set because the price was unbelievable. I paid $120 each for the ones from Yama when I bought my bike but, I am not happy with them. I do believe that the 5 pins are the same set up. I'll let you know on the 12th of this month if it is different, that is the delivery date they gave me. Dog

Oh Boy! I hate to see what you are trying to do. The trunk on the RSV, I believe, will not support the weight of the folding chairs you want to attach to them. I have used my rack to bungie my coat or for a small garment bag. I use a Kuryakin rack myself and it did not have the chrome supports that the yamaha rack comes with. Just my two-cents worth. Mark

John, I am sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you recover soon and weren't hurt too badly, and remember the bike can be replaced. I know that is not much consolation but, as bad as it seems, it will get better. Mark

RSV lift frame adapters - improved model
Mean Dog replied to Carbon_One's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hi Eck, I use a sears jack and it fits under my stock height RSV with the adapter. I had to place a piece of wood under the kick stand to hold the bike up straight while I rolled the jack under it though. If your bike is lowered you can always run the rear tire up on a 2X6 to get extra clearance for the jack. I like many others, you included, have a great deal of money invested in our bikes and I couldn't see it 19" in the air setting on anything other than STEEL! Another thing I like is that you can't put the kick stand up with the adapter under the bike. That way it is impossible to forget that it is there and try to ride off once it is off the jack. Mark -

Now you are talking Larry, If I hadn't already had mine built I would have bought this new design from you. The cost is very reasonable when you consider the cost of the materials involved. I hope that people realize the added safety that your adapter provides to their expensive motorcycle sitting on a small jack. I especially like the design change to accommodate the oil filter removal. I use mine all the time, whether it is to do an oil change or just to clean the bike. It makes cleaning the wheels and tires a breeze too! It sits on the jack now steady as a rock with the use of your adapter. I am glad that you decided to put it into production! Mark -
RSV/RSTD Lift Adapter ll
Mean Dog replied to Carbon_One's topic in Suspension, Tires, Handlebars, Etc.
Before the big crash I did a post reply to Carbon_One's jack adapter post. A friend and I built this for my 2006 Midnight RSV. I told Carbon_One at that time he should apply for a patent because it worked so well. I have seen where wooden frames and the use of hockey pucks have been utilized. Personally I don't trust my $17,000 motorcycle resting on wood or rubber hockey pucks 19" in the air. I especially like how the adapter is held snuggly against the bottom of the motorcycle and my Sears jack can slide in under it without realignment. Thanks again Carbon_One Mark -
Now I have to ask, how did you tie them into the original headset wires on the RSV? Or do you just listen to a portable with these? Mark

To Swivel or Not to Swivel, That is the Question
Mean Dog replied to Mean Dog's topic in Trailer Talk
Alrighty then! I got it all hooked up today. I used the Venturedad hitch and stinger, the modulite that Don recommended and alot of sweat when I had to cut into the main light wiring harness. Everything works, it sits level and tows great.... The added LED lights are a definite plus. Thanks for everyone's advice... Mark- 22 replies

Opinion time once again guys! I have the Piggy Backer trailer now and all the local guys here tell me I need to install a swivel hitch on it for safety reasons... I have looked at the Bushtech trailers (one of the most expensive trailers on the market) and I see that they use the heim joint connection. Although I see the advantage of the heim joint as far as that there would be literally no play or slap with this setup (tighter connection), it still will only rotate approximately the same distance as the standard ball / fixed hitch connection. Perhaps I am missing something here but, I personally don't see the advantage unless the trailer were to flip. I know that this is a possibility but, seems highly unlikely. I have learned al ot from the people on this site and value you opinions. Thanks, Mark
