Dan I believe the bolts stay in place when you remove the screws from the top. If not, I would suspect that you can open the CLASS access to the overflow bottle and hold them in place that way -
Fantastic!! Congrats to Mom, Dad and Grandparents!!:)

In honor of Leslie for ‘All’ our beloved fallen...
utadventure replied to dragerman's topic in Watering Hole
What a great idea. What if we had multiple ride threads (NY to Seattle, DC to Sacramento, Atlanta to LA) and made a stop in each state at the capital and/or major cities. A media release to the local television stations for the place and time of the ride will generally get one or more camera crews. I have no doubt that there are large enough motorcycle clubs to get it done with the HOGS, Gold Wings, Venturerider.org etc. Some of these groups have safety coordinators and programs that can be summarized for a short presentation. I think we would also find many from the political arena that would support motorcycle safety. Curt Bramble, (Utah Senate Majority Leader) is the proud rider of a Gold Wing and a Harley. This is something that we all can benefit from, bikers and cagers alike.- 29 replies

Is there something you are concerned about? Should we be concerned before riding with you?:rotf:

Midrsv - I checked with a friend of mine (Stan) that does a ride in So. Utah every fall. Going from Zions to Bryce and then on to Arches there are some great canyons to ride. He suggestions you stop in Blanding (320 miles) or Monticello (350 Miles) for the night and then go on to Moab the next morning. Also, he suggests that you get lodging reserved soon, as the summer period fills quickly. South of Blanding you can also go to the four corners area. This is were four states meet at one point. On your way back from Arches you may also want to stop in at Goblin Valley State Park. If you saw the movie Galaxy Quest, this is where they filmed the foreign planet scene. Stan offered to go along if time permits. He knows and loves the area. I wish my schedule allowed this ride as well. Dave

Midrsv - The National Parks in southern Utah are great. Zions - you can stay in St. George. The ride to the park is nice and only about 30 minutes away. You can also stay in Springdale, just outside the west entrance of the park. The third option would be to stay in the park at the Lodge. During the summer, the park requires you to ride the shuttle to the sites within the park, except to ride out through the tunnel to the east entrance to Mt. Carmel. You can easily spend a couple of days here. Bryce- this is more of an hour or two stop on your way to Arches. The view from the overlook is amazing and the short hike down (1/3 mile) is nice but hiking the entire route is not what I would recommend. Another stop on the way to Moab would be to take a detour out to the Needles portion of Canyonlands National Park. Arches - again you can spend more than one day here. There are many of the arches that can be seen from the road but if you enjoy hiking, at least take the Landscape arch hike and Delicate arch hike. You may want to consider doing these hikes on different days as Delicate is a moderately difficult hike. A short, fun ride outside of Moab would be to ride up to Dead Horse Point (Utah State Park). This is at the north end of Canyonlands Nat'l Park. The ride up the Colorado river that was suggested is also a nice ride to think about. Going across I-70 you can detour north up through Emery to Huntington (location the recent mine accident) and ride up over the mountain to Fairview. It's a beautiful mountain ride with great twisties. You can then ride south on US-89 back to St. George. I have a place 5 miles south of Fairview that would hold the group for the night if you would like to make a stop in Mt. Pleasant for the night. There are also numerous camping areas if you want to go that route. Feel free to give me a call if I can help with your trip. Dave

tire removal question
utadventure replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I haven't tried to pull the wheels myself, YET but I only paid a little bit more than what they are asking from you for BOTH tires and brakes. I just dropped off the bike. This price is too high. Dave- 14 replies

We welcomed our fourth grandchild yesterday! Cutest little girl ever. Aurora (we suggested Borealis as a middle name but that was shot down) was born about 10:00 yesterday morning. She is 8 lbs 6 oz, 20 inches long and has a head full of hair. Both mom and daughter are doing great. She is our only granddaughter thus far. Does this mean we get to spoil her double??

Heal up fast while the snow is flying!! You don't want to miss any of the riding next spring (this may require you to shelve the skis this winter though)

Add mine to the list. Beautiful gold and black '86. They definitely got it right in '86 Dave

Looks awesome!! Ride home safely!

If Jan & I had our way, all drivers would have to take some sort of motorcycle training course as part of drivers ed or by private instructor in order to operate a car. If they chose to license for a motorcycle is up to them but at least they would understand motorcycles and hopefully be aware of them. I feel that I am a better driver, regardless of the vehicle, because I drive a bike and seem to pay closer attention when a bike is driving around me. We required our youngest son (almost 18) to take the basic riders course and although he doesn't care for bikes, he can drive one if needed and has improved his driving as well.

You can go simple and pick a fun ride for all and ask for a voluntary contribution to the group you are wishing to help or you can go all out, have bikes sign up with a registration fee and then have lunch, entertainment and prizes or something in between. Each has it's pros and cons but most will enjoy the ride and opportunity to help out. (be sure to provide receipts if it's tax deductible) Good Luck!!

Utah has a variety of natures beauty. Wonderful mountains with twisties, desserts, cliffs and unique rock formations. Come enjoy. We'll have some great food but no booze.

This is one of the twisties in Big Cottonwood Canyon (just on the east side of Salt Lake). Lots of fun to ride to the top and back.

Clay - If you're comfortable with your hitch, pick up the Bushtec with a truck or trailer, driver down the road and do what you want. You could spend a lot of $$ and time modifying your bike based on someone elses opinion. Good Luck and post pics!!

With three bikes and four cars at our house, my fall project has been to make a place to protect and secure the bikes, have them on the battery tenders and still have a place to keep Jan and my cars out of the snow. The boys get to scrape and clean off their cars. I must just have too much stuff!! This is what I've come up with:

DANJ - Deal!!

DANJ - I just ordered 3 guardian bells. 1 each to give to my wife and son and one to swap. Are you interested? Dave

Don - write me down for 3. I'll send payment today!! Dave

This one is too close to home and a good price not to look at it seriously. Given that it's sat for a while, what do you recommend having to do before trying to fire it up? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6718&viewitem=&item=120173317213&_trksid=p3907.m29 If anyone else here is already bidding on this, let me know - I won't fight you for it. I had a very similar break 4 1/2 years ago playing basketball. After the surgery, I regained full mobility and activity. There are still moments of swelling even today. They didn't remove the plate or screws. It doesn't set off the alarm at the airport but I can tell you when a storm is coming!! Heal fast and go take a ride!!

Were any of you into "CBing" when it was cool??
utadventure replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
10-4 on using the CB in the 70's. It was a big way for high school kids to hook up. I guess it was the 70's version of "texting". We all used channel 23 and then went elsewhere.
