What good is our warrantee?
Sleeperhawk replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am surprised you are going to the one in Huntsville, instead going to Decatur. I just heard way to many issues with Huntsville dealer. Goodluck. -
I know now it is not the ride, :rotf::rotf:

Chirping and Whining
Sleeperhawk replied to Eddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My 08 does not have the Chirp or Whine. Totally different than the 05 Whenever I get ready to upgrade the clutch I will let you know what basket they have installed. -

Yeah, I wonder what ever happened to Vogel Seems like the good rallies are getting shut down, I guess the guy doing the Vogel rally was getting to old or did not like the Ventures no more. I heard he jumped ship to another type of bike but now lets it sit in the garage. :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Repositioning Passenger Intercom Connector
Sleeperhawk replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeppers, tried the move to the grab rail, still was not the best in world, especially in the dark. She was still cussin the connector (and she is a sweet grandma). So I bought the 2 foot extender, put the original connector back in its old location and the 2 foot piece now comes up and lays in the crack between the front and rear seats, just reaches for it and now sees the pin holes to line up. :cool10: -
Yes there is a trick to it, especially if this is your first time. Like Squidley says, you have to remove the covers. Now for the piece of the puzzle they don't tell you in the manual, the filter sits in a rubber sleeve (best I can describe it), this rubber sleeve has a slot that sits on a metal tab. Been awhile and don't remember exactly, either the sleeve moves to the left or right off this metal tab, then the rest is easy, pull filter out of sleeve, but trying to pull filter out sleeve while on this metal tab is very difficult because of the pressure created by the tab to hold the filter in place. hopefully you are not to confused by now. :rotf::rotf:

Saturday, I did get 45.1, 1up, doing 60mph at cruise But I will not see that figure again Then wife went riding with me and at 75 mph, 38.3 mpg on interstate, then back roads for awhile, got 40.2 Bottom line, 2up does effect mileage, great gas mileage at 60 or less, but above 60, down, down, down goes the mpg.

08 is running fine now
Sleeperhawk replied to Sleeperhawk's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Do not know yet, I have not really thought about it, with all that is going on at work. :confused24: -
When we went to Maintenance Day, was not happy with gas mileage and overall performance. Felt vibration in the seat, especially in 5th gear, only doing 60 to 65. Last week took the bike in and told them about the lousy gas mileage (around 33 to 35 at the above speed) and the vibration. Picked the bike up, was told the carbs where in sync (had done this myself) so that was not touched, but they did do the carb tune, 1 cylinder was running rich, the other 3 on the lean side. So I filled up in Sumter, rode at a constant 60, then filled up at a station close to home. Now for the surprise, 45.2 mpg, this is the best ever done by me. :cool10: Also, Mechanic was saying there was a tick tick noise, Sumter folks heard it also and greased the splines and fingers, no clicking. Mechanic says "Told you so" :rotf: Then when they brought the bike out to me, bad news, battery was dead. Someone there, left the key on. New battery and I did not pay for it. They apoligized and made it right. All this done under warranty and Sumter Extreme Sports gave me no hassles and really are a good Yamaha dealer. I did buy my 08 from them and will continue to do all my bike business with them. Also found out, one of the mechanics bought a used 07 a may be joining the site shortly. :)

Sleeperhawk's Mechanic Needs Your Help!!!!

Today is the day for the Mechanic for going to jail. She has been keeping me out of the dungeon lately, and not making pies unless someone shows up here. She 'Deserves' jail time. :rasberry: But on the other hand I hope she will not be in jail to long, maybe a couple of days to teach her a lesson. :rotf: -
Heard about this on the news today and the 3mill levy they will be imposing on homeowners to 'Help' cover for the lost revenue. Wonder why businesses did not put up a fight to stop this I know most hotels and rentals are sold out those two weeks. Will be interesting to see what happens next year, and especially after a lousy year due to less 'Visators' due to the economy.

Okay, I donated too, to get the jailbird out of jail :rotf: Even though she didn't make me a cherry, blueberry, apple, coconut cream, lemon merange or even banana pudding, I am still bailing you out. :rasberry: -

BEER30 has one and the Mechanic tried it out on the way back home from MD. She loves it better the full and 3/4 helmets we have. I tried it and it is very comfortable. Also, he had the helmet fixed with J&M and they actually sounded better than in my full face. BEER30 needs to chime in. The visor is easy to use but don't know if it can be replaced with a clear lense.
