Well after sometime (had the bike since mid May), finally have some pics I like of the bike. Had to "Beg" the Mechanic to take some pics.

Several on this site have Unigo trailers. I have even thought about getting one these. Just have not made up my mind as whether I want to really pull a trailer or not. Lots of posts on the site about Unigo.

2nd Annual Onslo Vietnam Veterans Memorial Run
Sleeperhawk replied to SaltyDawg's topic in Watering Hole
Looks like Mechanic and I will not be making the ride this year. We will be on our way to Arizona -
This weekend did my 8000 mile service, change spark plugs, all the oils, and put on new E3. Now I am a die hard AVON fan, been using them for the last 3 years and no issues. But since I bought my 08 (hate the brickstones), I decided to try the E3. I will let you know what I think of them, today I will break them.

Clutch replacement
Sleeperhawk replied to 01 Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
V7Goose, First of all, when the clutch started slipping (about 26,000) on my 05, I took my bike into a Yamaha dealer to replace the clutch spring. They replaced it with an OEM spring and that lasted until almost 60,000 mile mark, then I put the Barnette in. So Riderduke's is currently not slipping, but I do not see this as an improvement, just that the worn out spring was replaced with a new spring. Second, this was Riderduke's package, not mine and we both were wondering why the spring was packaged with an Yamaha OEM sticker, but we did not question this, because everyone was saying what a great upgrade. I am just wondering when 01Rider receive his package, if he can verify the packaging and part number. Because when it is time to upgrade, I would like to go the cheaper route also. :confused24: -
Clutch replacement
Sleeperhawk replied to 01 Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ok, now I am going to jump in :stirthepot: Riderduke ordered the PCW kit and I helped him install this kit. There was not one thing about this kit that was an upgrade to the spring. The packaging the spring (and all the other parts) were in an Yamaha OEM package. I looked the part number (from the package) up and it was the same part number for the spring on an RSV. :confused24: So I do not understand how this is an "Upgrade" on the spring. :confused24: Someone please enlighten me -
I do this every couple thousand miles to see if things are wrong with the front end and I don't do this for fun.

Ok, just for the very short 2 and half days we were there, Mechanic took over 1400 pics, but she felt a little worried that would be too much for this group to handle. :whistling: So she parred it down and I loaded only 1329 :rotf: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Ashville%2020090808/

1Rooster, thanks for putting the BBQ together. Looked like all had a great time. Thanks again.

Here in Columbia, SC, can now buy at $3.42, but when we came through Spartenburg, SC on Highway 176, Sunco had it at $3.15 (yep that was the price) and I had just filled up at $3.38 :crying: Thought I was doing good until I saw that price.

Yep, it was great seeing all again. BBQ was good Friday night, thanks 1Rooster for buying and putting this one together. Saturday was a great riding day, then a bunch of us went to Texas Road House. We won't talk about the waitress called "Touch" and of course the pics are coming.

Rear Shock replacement question
Sleeperhawk replied to bobbyduck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Since you have an 06, just wonderin why you are removing the rear shock? If it is broke, let Yamaha replace for free, including the work. -
Mechanic and I will be going right through Lake Lure when coming up there. Also, the elevator is the easiest way to get to the shop

Something strange going on with my bike

Okay, been consistently riding at 65 mph on Interstate to work the last couple of weeks and gas mileage has been around 34 to 35 mpg, 1 up. Also been smelling gas and seeing a spot from the four tubes on the left side. So yesterday tried V7Goose idea of adjusting the floats. This is the first time I have ever taken carbs off of any vehicle, let alone 4 of them. Actually the process was not bad at all, just follow the article Freebird has in the tech section. Got on the phone for a little bit with V7, just to confirm how to measure , thanks V7Goose. Put everything back together, went for a quick run around the neighborhood to make sure the bike still ran. Also no backfiring, have Khromewerk slip ons. Today, going to 2 up at 65 mph, got 40.9 mpg, :cool10: I will try going around 80 mph on this next tank going to work and let you know what the mph is. I do know at 80 to 85 mph, 2up I was getting around 30 mpg. So if I can get 35 mpg at 80 mph, I will be a happy camper. :cool10:
