After I posted last night I thought about the tire thing also. Them bad boys are high dollar and you probably dont want to run recaps either. I dont know how they tolerate sitting for long periods of time, like months without rotating. I know down here with a lot of "part time" residents they always cover the tires up to keep the sun off them. The good thing is you probably will be able to buy your oil in bulk for the bike now. Rotella T6 LOL

We usually pencil it in. As of now I say yes, but kind of wait and see.

We have been "toying" with thoughts of an rv. Looking in the direction of a toy hauler. Couple reasons, less maintenance, tags are cheaper an insurance for sure. Dont need to insure a vehicle I only need to drive 3 weeks a year. Have been looking at "outback" is the name of the trailers. Because they are not the standard rear cargo area. But you would still need a good tru k tp pull it with. We have been to an rv show or 2 and from what I have seen on the class a and c also even trailers. If a slide is available get it. It just makes such a difference in what it feels like inside. When its crappy outside and you got to be inside I think you'll appreaciate it.

In Need Of A Rear Brake Disk
djh3 replied to ronjolly's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Should be marked on disc what min thickness is. If its warped you can have it turned down as long as it is not below min thickness. -

No problem. I guess they had better electrical engeners for the 1st gen. Have not heard of a 1st gen burning up a switch. -
LED wiring issues
djh3 replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
With a volt meter check and see what you have at socket. Then maybe try jumper wires to your bulbs. As was mentioned maybe a contact problem. Regular bulbs are working, I know some of the LED I have got have smaller contacts. -

Thanks for the plug Eck. But the by-pas is for 2nd gen. Maybe a fuel pump issue. -

What about ground. what if the resistor was in ground circuit? I dunno as I have not used these. -
Well sorry to hear about the job. But it sounds as though you are taking it in stride. Mine was up Dec 31st on a company "reorganization". So have not decided what I'm going to do as of yet. Heavens knows my military retirement wont keep me afloat.

Here is a 05 with 65K on it for $5200 and extras. LOL but I guess you can ask all you want. If you get someone to buy I guess you win. To me dealers are normally high asking price. they have expenses to cover. Only advantage to dealing with them is inventory and you trade in something and not have to worry about selling it and sitting on it.

I was iin Cycle Gear yesterday. The fellow showed me a new design battery. I guess its lithium, but a battery for our bike weighed about 2lb. I was amazed, of course I think theprice was up there too.

If you look at the majority of the Harley dealers they do not sell OTH (other than harley) I would have to say the last time I was in a couple nuttin but Harleys. They just dont keep anything else even used bikes.

The unfortunate part is how bad they (oil companies) are going to rape and pillage us when it goes back up. As fast as it came down it will probably go up 3 times as fast. If I had some 55 gal drums to bury in back yard I would fill them up and store it. Gas is still way high fro what some say it should be. But I think all of america could live with the current prices. I know I can.

Typicaly I think it would be just like your phone or an update to your GPS. Plug it into the computer, log into whatever web site and download the update. I dont know as the actual i-simple adapter thing can be updated. I do not know for sure. But I would be interested in finding out if the OP got it fixed.

Interesting idea for sure. As I mentioned in our corrispondence, it will be interesting if the lights will work at in town traffic where you really need to be seen. Also turbulence behind a vehicle may be a factor. You wil have to make sure they go somewhere that keeps airflow.

Investigating Olivia's History is almost as much fun as riding her!!!!

Just on a thought Puc, contact Dale at the museum in Maggie Valley. He is quite the early HD guy. If he or Matt is not interested they may put you in touch with a appreciative buyer. -
When I was looking to upgrade from my 900 vulcan, I had a couple priorities. I had put a reckless fairing on it and liked it. But I wanted a "touring" bike. Cruise was probably #1. I thought I needed on board intercom and radio also. Knowing what I do now the TD would have been just fine I think and use a sena headset. But a fairing does give a bit more protection, but the windshields are decent too.

Need a fast Answer clutch basket ID

Still dont know why if the 1st gens dont have the noise issue, why couldnt one of those be put in and used. -
If the bolts are under the 50 or so buck range I probably would change the bolts also. As a second thought, being it has no cross member under the motor best I remember I might think about pulling the pan and clean it out good after all is done.

No have not bought any add on lights. I did replace the halogen bulbs with some cree led 30w bulbs. Seem to be pretty good.

Yea a lot of head bolts went to "torque to yield" maybe 10 years or more ago. With that being said I bet I have put 5 or more back together with the same head bolts. Most time the spec will say something like torque to 90 ft lb and turn 1\8 more. Me, I would look the bolts over and probably reuse them. I would be more worried about the aluminum head having a bad spot. Are you changing both head gaskets, or just the bad one? To clean it out yup will take a couple oil changes. Get a couple of the cheap oil filters. There use to be a motor flush product Risoline. Reminded me of kerosene. Might try say 2qt of kerosene and a couple qt of cheap oil. Run it for 45 min or so and see what the oil looks like. If one dose looks Ok put regular oil in it and run it a few days and see what it looks like. Then general sense from there.

Kyle, for sure the price is a big factor. The bracket is list around $125, $819 for the outer fairing. Add to that you need the back part of fairing @ $552 you can see it dont take long to go another way. you can get pretty mush a bolt on deal for a TD for like $300 on up. I think Hoppe makes one with radio and a lot of bells an whistles that goes for like $1100 or something.

Actually I'm more a hurricanes fan. But being that team has been... ur um less than stellar lately and rebuilding FSU is my next one up. Really didnt think they were going to get trounced like they did. If the Ducks play like they did against FSU, the turncoat Myer is in for big trouble. they had FSU outs gas by the second quarter. It could be interesting, but I dont have a dog in the fight and really could care less. I live in the middle of Gator country, these people are coo coo for blue and orange. So automaticly the ducks have more fans around here.
