  1. I need to do some more studding on what the difference is in the "smd" numbers.
  2. Do they have incandecent bulbs? What is the wattage ea? If they have the housing and a halogen bulb I can get you some info on LED bulbsto fit that have pretty good lighting.

    Supershow

I have a buddy with a old Kawai sport bike kind of like the old kz 1000, I forget the name hurricane or something maybe they didnt import to us as same name. A couple years back we were discussing insur rates and he told me what his tags ran and on top insur for like 8 month. It was just crazy money. I would have to think some of it has to do with you alls "free" medical care deal. Not picking on ya, but I and many others know aint nothin "free". Somebody is payin somewhere.
  4. The RSV is the first bikw I have owned that has had any kind of hand holds.
  5. I have yet to get the axle bolt out without, er some persuasion insisted upon it also. So should I need to get a punch on the bolt to get it started out, I sure dont want to miss and hit the bags. For me because there is a CD player in the left bag its a bit more involved, but if no CD machine its 4 bolts and more room to work. Also getting the tire back up on the splines for me is easier if I didnt have to fight around the bag. Whatever works for you.
  6. Veryy possibly it is 15w40. I remember there is a 5 in there, but didnt go out and check the can. So I am probably off. but 20w50 in winter even here in south seems a bit stiff.
  7. I thought maybe you were talking about I-75 thru Atlanta. Last week when I went thru there I would have bet it would qualify. Didnt take me long to remember why I try to avoid at all cost.
  8. I boo boo'd early on and filled it to full. I had oil all the way up in the air box under the tank. It takes a long time to clear up. Oil gets in nooks and cranies even if you wipe it all out it can find its way into the intake of carbs. I usually run between lower mark and half way. Use a block of some sort under the kickstand to level it out. Sounds kind of like a couple things going on. Some normal steam etc. Also for winter time 50w is a bit stiff imop. Even here in Fla I run Rotella T6 5w40. Summer I may put one qt of 20w50 and the rest 5w40 rotella.
  9. Taking the bags and mufflers off first will lighten the bike up some. Also will be more balanced when you go to jack it up.
  10. As of now I am with dairyland. Started with geico with my 900 vulcan, couple yr with them and rates creep up so went shopping. Next up I forget travelers maybe. Then a year or so with them. Had aarp for a couple years which was geico. They jumpped almost $100 so I went shopping and got to,dairyland. Where you live makes huge difference. How are they going to know if you rode 8000 miles or 800? Do they take the starting and ending milage? Here in Fla my uninsured moteresr cost me more than the actual coverage. PUC I can send you an address you can register to. I had a buddy that lived in NC and I told him that for years. He had higher tags, some sort of personal tax and higher tags.
  11. Go to here. Then select from the drop down list 2nd Gen-Wheels and tires. It should give you about 3 options, one of which is a video. Also some references to it in 2nd Gen tech section here, but I didnt find it. you should also lube up the rear splines while you got it apart and probably change the rear gear oil as well. Video here. Try here for write up. Basicly you need: bike on a lift that is secure at a fairly high level to get wheel out. Both bags off. Both mufflers off. Take off equipment first, then worry about getting the bike up. OK just did a test of the links to Venturers. At the top of the site look for :tech library" and go from there. Sorry but they dont allow links.
  12. Yup I thought of that too. As far as balancing goes, I just use the balance beads. They work great.
  13. I didnt know if it was direct wired 220. Didnt think of that until after I got to rambeling.
  14. Last pair of tires I mounted on the RSV had the opposite problem. It was hard to get beads out to seat. Take a cargo strap and put around tire and ratchet down some, it will spread the bead a little. then shoot the air to it. soon as the tire seats the beads release the strap. On is the easy part, a couple well placed tires spoons while working it around and your good. but still a neat idea I might have to try.
  15. You can ride Sat Steve and tell us your woes. Did you try a hammer? On a serious note, un plug it an maybe turn the, switch on while un plugged. Then switch of and replug in and see if it might work. Ops just thought it could be 220 and direct wired also huh.

    Added Lighting

    Light added to my bike
  17. Do you have the passing lights installed? If so just draw your power off the relay for those. You do have a relay installed on them rite?
  18. Inside the light, if its a h-3 halogen bulb there is a ground wire that screws to the housing back. Mine does not allways make a good contact, and last time I had it appart I had to add a washer to make it get good contact.
  19. The plastic replacement cost is just astronomical on these bikes. And add about $70-90 bucks an hour to repair things and it dont take long to get to 60% of what a like, kind bike. It sucks for sure.
  20. LOL A fellow RSV owner bought one of my by-pass relays. I am in Fla and he in Wisconson. So I put his part in the mail. It goes across Fla, up to Wi. Then to NJ then back to Wi at least once before the fellow got it. I guess I was just glad I was not paying by the mile.
  21. If I was going to mess around reworking fuel delivery, I would adapt fuel injection from a v-max probably.
  22. My reds aare on with tail lights and do not flash, change colors or ossilate. Will not be mistaken for LEO. You dont have a white helmet also do you?
  23. I bought a length of red ones off e-bay. I made a bracket for under the saddlebags and mounted the lights and they operate as running and turn. A couple short strips under the gas tank mounted and on a switch so if get hassled, I can turn them off.
  24. If you go used engin, have them go ahead and put a new timing belt on that one. The 100k plus milage car I dont think I would go that route. Good luck which ever way you go.
