I have a 2006 RSTD. One of the drivers at work came outand looked at the bike. This guy is a dead cold Harley guy. He loved the bike. There are some HD riders with sense.

Can you hear your fan?
Galapagos replied to jrsain's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The voices in my head drown out the fan. I never hear my fan on the RSTD 06. I never have the light on either so I imagine that it is working. -

Just my two cents. I am a service manager at a Mack truck dealership. @2000RPM you should be at 14v or better. The 11.7v is really a worry. I would replace the battery with the best one I could afford. Nothing like a reliable battery to make you smile. Also, if you continue to run a weak battery it will do bad things to your charging system. A battery can kill an alternator quickly. It has to work too hard to charge the battery. This applies to anything automotive. -
whats the best engine oil to use
Galapagos replied to mike042's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I will throw some junk on the pile. I run Amsoil and the bike runs well and shifts great. I read some threads here that syn oil affects the clutch. Makes the plates slip. I run dino ( Rotella 15-40 diesel ) and about 4k (miles I change the oil ) I get the shifter to not be quite as smooth. Hangs up a bit. I actually miss second gear some times. I NEVER MISS SECOND GEAR! Then I find some threads that dino makes the plates stick when the oil needs changed. I am going back to Amsoil. -

I am an avid steelheader. I wait for the hurricanes and tropical storms to push rain north into steelhead alley and flush the rivers. These cooler days and nights will have the steelhead stacking up at the river mouths as soon as the river temps get into the mid 50's. When the lake temp hits the mid 50's the silver bullets will wait for the rain to push up into the rivers to spawn. Then my better half becomes a fish widow. I love a good September rain.

I had a rear plugged tire blow out on me at 65 MPH. Needless to say it is an experience that I will NEVER forget. Tires are cheap compared to what can happen to you in a blowout.

WNY would not be too far for me. I live in NE Ohio. What time of the year would this be happening? I think I could help out a bit.

I need to buy new air filters for the 06 RSTD. Anyone have suggestions on a vendor with a good price and quality? Are the K and N filter worth the money?

I just got back from Grantsville WV. Took the 4wd this trip. Heavy rain Thursday and Sunday night. The winds got scary Sunday evening and it was a real frog stike.

I just ordered some 50w driving lights for the 06 RSTD. Think I am going to have a charging issue with these? I am installing a switch to turn them on/off.

If you are travelling the top half of the state Rt 47 is a nice road. Long winding curves and enough foot rest tapping bends to keep it interesting. The road is also in nice shape for most of its length. Rt 16 can be a mindbender. Rt16 is the type of road that keeps your attention. Be alert for some pretty hairy hairpins and blind curves. The worst thing about WV roads are the people that drive in the center of the road. Keep an eye on the bends and respect the speed limts. If it has a 25mph speed limit sign the curve will be severe.

How many Moose riders do we have here? I am a long time member of lodge 547 in Ashtabula Ohio. We are going to get the Legion Riders started here if the interest exists. I just realized I asked how many Moose riders we have. The Canadiens should go nuts with the funny responses.

I am a proud member or the Ohio Patriot Guard Riders. I would like to mount a 3x5 flag on my 2006 RSTD. I have seen other mounts that are all homemade. Does anyone have a mount on their bike I could copy for dimentions? TY for you input folks. MoS

I accept it as part of the machine. I have owned Yamahas, Hondas, Husqvarnas, Pentons and Harleys. They all have issues. I love my RSTD 06. I can take the whine because this is such a nice bike to ride. Next one will be a Venture.

Good you got to Tilleys today to help those still abroad. I helped the PGR welcome home the 292nd Engineering unit in Newton Falls Ohio today. They are back from a year in Iraq. I like homecomings. It was a really fantastic day. I hope you medical issues improve and that everything is OK.

Two vehicles I love are my Ford Escape and the Ranger pickup. Nice looking rig.

RSTD Problem

I always had black Harleys. I get more compliments on the RSTD in pearl than I ever did on any of them. -

Buying a RSTD
Galapagos replied to jrsain's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Warm weather riding can get the boots heated up. I put Kury hiway pegs on my RSTD. Keeps the feet nice and cool. The other side of the coin concerns my Ohio riding seasons. That heat from the engine is a blessing when it cools off up here. MoS
