  1. I was about 20 minutes into a nice ride yesterday and heard a strange noise from the front engine or tire area. The only way to describe it was as if the bike had run over a flattened pop can in the road. Short rasp and it was gone not to appear the rest of the day. No big thing. Today I am riding and the same noise appeared. Short rasp and it did not come back. Bike ran fine. There was nothing in the road that I saw and I watch carefully for rough surfaces when riding. Anybody ever experience somthing like this? I have an 03 RSTD with about 15K on it.
  2. A mechanic gave a word of advice once. "Start at the battery". It has been valuable in the past.
  3. Sorry to hear about your Dad Jeff. Hope everythings turns out well.
  4. The family has decided to remove Eric from the life support system. Eric is an organ donor and will help others in his passing. I know he will also be greatly missed by his fishing partners. R.I.P. Eric
  5. I always thought something was wrong with me and I never asked for help. Then the girlfriend that became a wife helped me manipulate my shaft. Even divorced I thank her for that. She also helped my best friend with his. I miss golfing with him.
  6. I wish to have prayers sent for a friend named Eric Workman. He is a State Trooper in West Virginia that was shot in an altercation that left another officer dead. Eric is in intensive care with a gunshot wound to the head. I am a former police officer and this hits close. I know Eric from trout fishing in WV. He was a member of our group that met every April. I really do not know what to say other than Godspeed my friend and I hope for your recovery.
  7. First of all do you have a manual that shows how to field strip the firearm? If not then you may be able to download one from the net. If you are not comfortable with that the take it to a gunsmith.
  8. I have done alot of riding in the mointains of West Virgina. Biggest issues were tailgaters, gravel in the turns. deer and other animals. Go slow in the curves. Never know what is just around the bend. I also try and concentrate more on watching where I am going. That may sound like a basic rule in riding but I do find myself watching the scenery also. Your bike goes where you are looking.
  9. The PGR is a great group. I ride with both the Pennsylvania and Ohio Guard.
  10. Now thats a guard dog!
  11. Here is a pic of Izzy. Eight weeks then, eight months now. The girlfreind named him. I thought Rambo was more appropriate. That his pal Buddy with him. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/chromeandleather/100_2412.jpg
  12. If you like that sound you need to order a movie called Cannery Row. Great flick.
  13. Anybody ever have or raise a rat terrier? This may be one of the greatest challenges I have ever taken on. Full of energy and smart as a whip. I am a labrador type guy. I like easy dogs to train. This one aint easy. This one has a tendancy to nip. Not a bite yet. The growl comes before the nip. 8 months old. I never hit a dog. the voice should command the dog. This one must have missed that day in school. Here is some history on the devil spawn. We got him at 8 weeks from the APL. His tail was docked. He chewed on me from the get go. He is chewing less from verbal repercussions. I think he got pulled from mom too early. He is so smart. Just bad. This pup will be a challenge.
  14. Tessie runs with Cocoa, Buddy, Koko, Reisa and Angie. All friends of mine that were also great dogs. She has freinds to be a dog with. Sorry for your loss my friend.
  15. I'm lost. Whats the target now? Its terrible to get old.
  16. Well come over and sit on my RSTD. I am in Ashtabula Ohio.
  17. I am a service manager for a Mack truck garage. You would not believe the people that have spent $150,000 on a truck and not know the model. They are luckey to know the brand. They have no idea on engine, drivetrain of transmission. I admit I am learning about Yammies. I also know I have a RSTD with a 1300 engine. I am a 40 year Harley guy. Takes a bit to peel that off.
  18. Best BBQ sauce I ever had. 4 Lean back ribs or spareribs 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 large onion sliced 1 lime sliced 1/2 cup STRONG black coffee 1/2 cup tomato paste 1/2 cup honey 2 tbsp brown sugar 2 tbsp Jim Beam or Jack, Mezcal is a suitable subtitute 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, Lea and Pierrens Tabasco to suit your palate Sprinkle both side with salt and pepper Place rib side up on a covered grille. Low as you can go heat. BBQ 60 minutes turning once in awhile. Onions and lime on meat part last twenty minutes. I like to heat my sauce when I put it together before brushing Brush your sauce on and continue cooking 30 minutes. Heat and cookers vary. Just dont burn your ribs. Brush as they cook. I also like them in the oven at 290* for 5 hours. These fall apart. I also like to start with meat at room temp. Tha goes for anything I put on the grille.
  19. Sorry you lost your job. I know alot of truck drivers, my old man hauled steel 40 years. I am also a service manager at a Mack/Volvo truck dealership. Tough life and not what you think. It is not the romantic life described by the guys with the cowboy boots and the chrome plated trucks. It is isolation, bad food and long hours. Dispatch wants to make money and if you are not moving you are not making money. It is one or two months from home for a long distance driver. It is missed birthdays and holidays with family. Starting pay sucks. $30K a year to begin. You need to move up the pack to get the good loads. How old did you say you were? Companies will promise you anything and then show their real face when you need them. Business is about money and not about you. Get a dog that listens and does not shed. Thats your sanity when things get tough on the road. "Keep that shiney side up and that dirty side down. Catch you on the flip flop!" You also have to learn another language. Truck driver lingo.
  20. I have a 2006 RSTD. I am installing the original mufflers on the bike. Do I have to remove the saddlebags to get to the back bolt?
