Don't know if this will help or not Unfortunately, depending on the physician or anesthetist, you may or may not be able to have a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) or an epidural if a tattoo is covering the region of your lumbar spine (i.e. between L3-L5) where the needle would go because of the still strong (though unproven) belief held by some physicians (and anesthetists) that doing so could track dye into the central nervous system, and that unknown complications could arise because of neurotoxicity. Tattoo "dyes" are not lead paint ... they're pigments. Anyway, during the healing process, these pigments are incorporated by macrophages a tattoo. Of course, no health professional would inject over a *fresh* tattoo (because of the higher risk of infection) unless there was an absolute need. There is *no* evidenced based literature to support this, but still, some physicians refuse to do LPs or provide epidurals to people with lower back tattoos. There is absolutely no reason blood can't be taken, IVs placed, or people otherwise injected in areas covered by tattoos. I've started numerous IVs and given numerous injections through skin covered by tattoos because I don't believe there is a risk (if it was so risky, why would tattoos be allowed in the first place?) The pigments in tattoos are inert (despite what you might find on the internet ... they are not vegetable dyes either (they're mainly metal salts) ... but they are safe. It scares me how scared some people can be of *chemicals* ... it boils down to ignorance. It's a myth ... look it up on PubMed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/) or check http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lower-b... http://www.snopes.com/medical/drugs/tatt... Not all injections go in to veins (e.g. intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) ones). Tattoos themselves are the result of intradermal injections. To those posters who state the reason is because of some sort of visual hindrance to the vein, veins do not have to be seen to be *hit* (natural skin tone can mask veins as well as any pigment from a tattoo). 5 months ago Source(s): RN (I also have a degree in chemistry)

Magnetic Switch for Trunk Light
BuddyRich replied to awsmsrv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I used a micro switch. Picked it up from radio shack I think. You can screw it to a small piece of ABS and glue that in place on the body. Then glue a small block of abs on the lid for the trip. -

Venture or Tour Deluxe?
BuddyRich replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I had a Nomad and put a trunk and a fairing on it. Just wasn't the same as having everything built in and ready to use. When you start adding on to something you wind up spending more than just buyin what you wanted anyway. -
This is for a different engine but I would say all are about the same since we are using gas as the fuel. http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Temps.html http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Temps/Exhaust.jpg

The RSV uses the 1 inch clamps. First 2 thing I bought for the bike was the lower wind vents and the longhorns.

I can only tell you that as a professional we usually find nothing wrong with the computer or the site ..

Venture radio problem
BuddyRich replied to jjulson's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Sounds like loose connections. I would take it back to the dealer. A few here have fixed the radio buttons not responding by taking the fairing apart and then using some di-electric grease in the adio connectors in there. I don't remember anyone have a squeal/feedback problem. Is the CB on or off ?- 15 replies

The last couple of weeks I have been seeing a lot of dead hogs around here. Some up to 300 lbs. Decided its time to help get rid of some of them. A shotgun ain't gonna work for me. Now if you run across a Ruger .44 mag carbine I would love to buy it. Oh yea, What's the little arrows for on the butt. To show which way to point it ? Or which end not to be on.

I like the vents. I tried the round vents on my stock shield and didn't get nearly as much air thru them as the GW vent.

Get into the fairing and pull all the audio connectors apart and put them back together. Then take it around the block or something to check it before putting the fairing back together. If its cleared up then put some di-electric grease on them.

Hi Carl. I had some RK pipes on mine also and had drilled them all the way thru. You could look right thru them. The RK's weren't as loud because the seem to deepen the tone and have a lot of packing or something around the sides. Once you start drilling thru the inlet side of the RSTD pipes its nearly a straight thru and there is no packing in them. Kinda sounds like a mustang when its in the higher revs.

Yep, I'll be around. I don't think they are as loud as bubs. I drilled out from the inlet side with a drill bit extension and a 1/4 bit. I then took a reamer and cleaned out about a 1/4 of the wall. I had done it with just a few 1/4 holes and that wasn't bad either. Any way, let me know.
