    Be Very Careful..There is a VERY bad thing about her sleeping if you are using the headsets.......IF she snores a little like mine it can be very relaxing to the person doing the actual handling of the bike..Those very soft snores you hear in the headset make you VERY sleepy..I have done my part and warned you all. I am surprised the Venture does not have a WARNING LABEL about that!

    I have right at 16000 on my rear Avon and looks great but have ordered new as I am not gonna take them much farther..Still nearly 1/4 in tread on it. Tom ( I dont ride real aggressive and I use ride-on..maybe thats why they look good??)

    If you are not winding it up to high RPMS it will do that..Yamahas recommended shifts are not correct at all.

    I would not be afraid to run the E3s,but I choose the Avon Venom because it has a higher load rating on the back tire. NO WAY will I EVER run Metz 880s on THESE bikes,They run hotte and MANY have had chunks of rubber coming off of the 880s.On the other hand a few on here run the 880s and have not had a problem but I will never take that chance again. (Mine had 1700 when they started chunkin rubber). Now some say the Avons do not "stick" well.I havnt found that to be the case .

    The people inventing that hasnt lived in West Texas...You would only go 75 or so miles then run out of battery and get mauled by a Mountain Lion..My daughter has to go 125 miles just to get groceries..I dont think She would make it!

    Do a search on here about the Metz..I know ALOT of people with different brand bikes that have had GREAT luck with Metz but for some reason on the Venture it hasnt proven(Except to a few) to be a safe tire..Mine started chunking at 1700 miles..No more Metz for me,my life and my wifes life is not worth taking the chance. 16000 miles on my rear Avon now and still looks great BUT,I think I am going to replace for safety sakes.     Goose I have followed this thread and currently closing in on 16000 miles on my Avons and they look really good ...BUT I think I will go ahead and order a new set as I think I may be pushing the envelope...By the way how does your brother like the Wing compared to the Venture..??

    Avon stock sizes here,no problems with rubbing 15000 miles on this set so far..conservative riding. Avon is all I will run,have not tried Elites.Had Dunlops but here in Texas they grind the road and leave tar snakes,the dunlops follow them BAD,the Avons go thru like they are not there.

    Not being there I do not know but If the clip on the moulding is broke nothing is going to be tight..I thought my clips were not broke but I looked again..

    Next time in Marathon the Marathon Motel is better in my opinion,nothing fancy but an outdoor covered area with a HUGE fireplace,nice to sit around visiting and a few drinks(BYOB)...Ditto on nowhere good to eat there but its only like 60 or so miles to Big Bend from there and Alpine is only 31 miles to the west.they have some fairly good rooms.

    Reiney,That is exactly what happened to me while riding with Gunboat and Ponch...I got a call from Debby and Debby was frantic,her Mother had had a stroke and Debby was about to head out to Junction,Texas but luckily I had my BuddyRich cable and received the phone call.I am glad I had it as Debby had just taken her Pain Meds(straight Morphine) and had no business driving..You will love it as the calls both receiving and sending are QUIET!     Kent,I am on the road but will be thru EARLY Sat AM,possibly Friday evening. If your brother is too sore to ride or if you guys need anything I have a trailer and will come get you ASAP.If he needs a ride back to GA.I will be off all next week and will be more than happy to trailer he and his new bike back home. Just let me know....Hopefully he will be able to finish the trip but keep me in mind if needed.Tom
