  2. Peg would kick my if I spent $300.00 or more on knives. Nope you wouldnt want my brand of knives thats for sure. Dollar tree:crackup: Brad glad things are looking your way. Hope to you both real soon.
  3. Yep I bet it is something you did.. Well it is Blue.... and it does run.... i'll stop there before I get Big D mad at me again:whistling:
  4. Maybe she's getting tired of seeing First gen. parts laying around ?
  5. Thats one Pretty ride you have there. I have a feeling this bike going to be seeing more than 4,000mi this year. Remember when you reach 50,000 miles your just getting warmed up and when you reach 100,000 miles, the motor will be broke in by then and be ready for another 100,000 miles.. They Don't call these XVZ motors bullet proof for nothing...
  6. its hard to say, some have put full Syn.oil in high mileage bikes and never had any problems and other have stated it cause theirs to seep oil ?and went back to Dino oil instead and the seeping stopped. Being a low mileage bike like you have its hard to say? Like how long has it been setting without being started? or has it been ridden much in the past? or the last oil change etc etc. I for one never really had any problems on any of my bikes going from Dino oil to Syn. oil. Dino oil may seep out as well If its not been ran in many years, due to the seals being stiff. So you have a 50/50 chance either way
  7. As long as you stay on top of your oil changes and do good maintenance you can pretty much use any brand oil of your choice. First off stay away from oil labeled "energy conserving oil" not good for your wet clutches. I used motorcycle oil Mobil 1 10w40 good oil but high $$$. But now since I have my RSTD I have switch back over to Rotella T 15w40, I used several oil brands on my bikes in the past and never had any problems with any of them. I used Rotella T 15w40 before it was rated for motorcycles and never had any problems. Going back to Rotella T because its good oil and more $$$ in my pocket. Guessing Rotella - T 15w40 has a new formula now because its showing to be rated for motorcycles now "JASO MA". Main goal is stay on top of your oil changes and you will be OK....
  8. GOOD NEWS!!! Big D We'll keep her in my prayers and say one for you too, your going to be needing it more.....
  9. NO not really!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Nice to see you made it back safely. Hope to see you soon until then get that Venture ready its almost M&E & Rally time again...
  11. WHY.......
  12. If the dates fall in place I could ride over. Be nice to see you & flb_78 again.
  13. I'm in the process of doing just that. Adding the Venture trunk to the Tour deluxe. Also will do the fairing later on in the year too. And both of them can be remove that way I can still have a cruiser and touring bike in one.
  14. Do not know about the 96 model, but on my 83 it was the pigtail for the pickup coils - getting bad connections. Unplugged the pigtail cleaned the connections applied electric grease. the rest was history no more problems....
  15. Picked up my Tour deluxe yesterday . Got back to the dealer and the Windshield was gone? asked where it went and they said it never had one to begain with. I know it did because I saw it the day I checked the bike over:headache:. So I bought an Deluxe with no windshield, have to say its alot differrent with out the Windshield thats for sure, any way I see its cheaper to go with a Fairing than to buy the complete Windshield. So thanks for the photos this helps me a lot on how to do my fairing update.. OH and the Tour Deluxe did great coming home too...........
  16. So glad your going back to work, Peg & I been down that road before, and yes it sure does remove the load off your test very much.. Nice to see your both are staying in TX, so we can see you both more often. we was afraid you was going to move off again:crying: Thanks too Ponch & Gunboat too!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you guys soon we sure do miss you guys very much.. I can just see your face when you get your first check.....
  17. be drinking mine in a few hours 5:30am before leaving home then 6:30am more coffee in break room before work..
  18. Best thing I found to ad in my install is to add some black form-a-gasket to the covers and insert the gaskets and let the valve covers set on the gaskets over night, next day every thing is nice and set in good, and when I went back with the covers the gaskets never did fall out.. and no leaks either!!
  19. Tell him I still love him.......Oh give him some cheese to go with that whine.... Sorry Pat could not help myself.....
  20. Very nice Very nice indeed............. Love the work you done to your ride..... Some excellent painting for sure!!!!!!! And I do feel sorry for you Pat? having to put up with Don while he's off his Venture. If you want we can have Monty honk his horn as he rides by your house, That should help Don - you think...
  21. My side stand switch went bad on a trip one time, died going down the hwy at 65mph that was no fun either.200mi from home Lucky I read here a lot and knew what to look for, sure enough the side stand switch was bad. starts OK in Neutral but put in gear it will die. I by passed the switch by the pig tail by tying the three wires together and We was back on the road again in no time.
  22. Nice photos Mr. C Looks like your doing the remake of Grumpy old men:whistling:
  23. Yes HD makes some nice bikes and we rode an Ultra once and yes it had a smooth ride but that was on the HWY. In town at stop lights, looked Like I was having a fit. the handle bars were shaking so much, Which made my hands and arms hurt. When I was looking for a cruiser ,I checked a lot of them out and a few I really liked, but in the end I came back to the Royal Star Tour Deluxe due to the XVZ1300 motor, With this motor I know after the first 100,000 miles this motor will be ready for another 100,000 miles. They don't call it the bullet proof motor for nothing!! And I get a smooth ride too...... Buddy of mine has the Ultra & Road King and has been through both motors (top end) with less than 80,000 miles. I like HD but I prefer the Yamaha motor! Does not mean I wont own a HD some day,I just prefer the XVZ1300 motor over the HD motor right now. Sorry if this bothers some folks....
  24. I took my old one to Napa and found a match that was a little longer(cut to fit). AutoZone might have one as well.
  25. OK I won't
