  1. Ever since you got the Second Gen. you been a pain in the rear....... I take that back your already a pain in the rear...... Break in period? Hard to say...everybody rides their bike different so its hard to say really. Always been told, its not hard for these motors reaching 100,000 miles. And when you reach 200,000 miles then you can start bragging because you know you can ride across country with no worries..... They call them "The bullet proof motor" for a reason.......
  2. Always had excellent service. And will buy again..
  3. They are top heavy, I had to get used to my 83. Second Gen. the same way, top heavy. What helped me was just ride it and get used to it, but their are few here that just could not do it.. And went with something else....
  4. Good One Paul. Don't forget Brown Sugar is a First Gen. A Legend on here.... Wish I could have seen the Blue Beast & Brown Sugar pair off against each other. That would have been awesome indeed, Two Legends against each other...... Hope to see you soon Paul... 1983 Venture The Beast (pictured) Wish I still had it.
  5. Not required, I use Regular Unleaded gas on my bikes and they run just fine. If you want to use the Plus or Super Unleaded and it feels better, go for it....
  6. Me too, Wish I still had my 83 Beast, man that baby was fast. So for that reason I put my money on Randya since he has the 83 Beast as well.....Fastest Stock venture made...
  7. I know their not fun to get too ( starter) Pull the starter and see if you can push the bike and get any movement in the motor? It could be several other things??? But I would start with the Starter and check the Bendix . And check to see if you have any bad spots on the starter and ring gear teeth.. Lets hope its nothing major. You can do a bench test on your starter at O'reillys or AutoZone for free..
  8. Beautiful Family. Amen............
  9. OK let me get this straight Yammer has Brown Sugar and Skid has Ugly. ? OK OK OK I get it .. Yammer buys Brown Sugar but leaves Ugly there to be pick up later, Hoping Skid would give it a good wash and wax job.. Ugly don't look so ugly now.... Looks pretty nice Skid... Yammer you want to race Skid now that you have Brown Sugar.. Since Brown Sugar is the fastest around.....
  10. Wish I could Bill, I be at your house in no time. Well maybe 10hr drive but I be there LOL.. Wish I could go but to much on my plate right now, and the last ice storm really took a bit out of our budget.. But we will see you come August. Ride safe and have fun pulling your new trailer too... Buddy
  11. Engine noise or wind noise? Sounds like your intercom is picking up all the noise and over riding your music? If so turn down or turn off your intercom part , or cover your mic with a small balloon, I had to use a small balloon on my mic to drown out all the road noise on my intercom system when I had it in use..
  12. He still around, posted several times this morning. Last I talked to Bill he was going to do more riding this year and go camping with his new cycle trailer. May be Linda wants him out of the house for a while you think.
  13. Sorry could not pass that up... Sorry cannot make the MD this year. the last Ice Storm we had in January pretty much wiped out our Vacation & money:(.. Maybe next year:think: One of these years I'm going to make one. Unless Freebird moves back to Texas then it would a sure deal for us Southern folks.
  14. My 06 RSTD sounds like the transmission is going out . But once I remove the Fairing its not so bad, The fairing plays a key part as for how loud the whine gets too. Going to switch oil and see if this helps. First oil change I went with Rotella T and it seems the whine is a bit louder now? will try another brand later on and see if this helps some. By the way mine sounds like yours too, but mine may just be a bit louder .
  15. Nice bike Jack, I see it took you five bikes before you got it right:whistling:, Guess you can call it LUCKY SIX. As for the Second Gen.ride yes I know what you mean as for the handling - seating and leg room. It took me almost 100 miles before I got the hang of it. You would not think these two bikes First-Second Gen. could be so different, yet each one gives an excellent ride in its own right.... Your Legs & knees will Love you on long trips riding this Second Gen. Another reason why I came back to the RSTD.... Jack I Really Happy for you:happy34:, have fun riding your new ride....
  16. Your Water Buffalo brings back old memories for me. Mine was burnt orange and a basket case as well bought it for 75.00, Got it to running . And have to say the Water Buffalo was one bad bike to be racing against. Boy I crazy back then, it would do more than what the speedo would show. Dad said every time I gave it full throttle it sounded like a Big Buffalo .. Boy was I nuts or what.. Buddy
  17. Same here Ruffy Buy mine from O'riellys as well, for $1.89 hard to beat that price! and I dont have to pay shipping charges either..
  18. Don't let her eat the wedding cake:( her attitude will change:headache: Boy will it change:whistling:...
  19. With two up & trailer fully loaded, 5th gear works fine for me & Snowflake.. Set the cruise around 70MPH and enjoy the ride.....
  20. I only buy from Sellers that use PayPal. I too had a problem with a tire purchase. The tire never showed up . So I Did a claim with PayPal and within 8hrs I had my money back!! Very Pleased with PayPal service!!!!!
  21. Charlie you got to get the First Gen. out of your mind.. Its a Second Gen. But if you really want some tools I guess you could ask Yammer Dan,I hear he has a few First Gen. laying around:whistling: Dan You know I Love you.. right........
  22. Peg & I are very proud to have meet Jason. Hope all goes well for Jason over in the sand box. Our Son Michael (Marine) will be there probably next year some Time?..We always keep our troops in our thoughts & Prayers. Hope they all get to come home very soon. ........................................God Bless our Troops:innocent:.............................................
  23. If you look at the new listing you will see that the New Rotella T -T6 oils have motorcycle "JASO MA" approval rating now. So your still good to go:happy34:
  24. First time I really FULLY tested the 83 Venture I had. Was riding with a friend of mine he has the 03 VTX1800 Honda. We left from a dead stop he got the jump on me but once I hit second gear he was history. I gave the motor full throttle and let it loose,he said he could see day light under the front tire when I went by him. He never thought a touring bike could do that. These XVZ1300 motors LOVE it when you let them have FULL THROTTLE....... Oh the 83 had no rev. limiter either...Sure do miss that bike... Now my RSTD I have now can move on out as well, BUT I find the rev. Limiter is keeping this motor from being what its best known .........................THE BEAST........................ When you let this motor have full throttle you will soon find out why their called the "Bullet Proof Motor".. the more throttle you give it the more it wants!!!! Find you a long straightaway and let it loose, you Wont hurt the motor one bit!!! Heck it will be begging you for more throttle....... I guarantee it..........
  25. First off welcome to the family.... Rotella T 15w40 is rated for motorcycles and will not break you pocket book either , a lot the folks here have used Rotella T 15w40 well over 50,000miles on their bikes I like it very much myself.. I used Amsoil in the past as well Mobil 1 10w40 motorcycle oil too but I rather save money and use Rotella T 15w40 instead. Also use wallie world ST 7317 oil filter as well. I always had better luck buying my parts from www.flatoutmotorcycles.com for my cycle parts. http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_select.asp
