  1. Blue collar all the way. Well paid factory worker, electrohydraulic technician type...
  2. My wife and I wil be in the SE Pa region the week of July 4th. We will be staying in Reading Pa. Yes, you will enjoy the Poconos along with the Amish area. There are several members in the area to meet up with. We are also planing on going to Don's maintenance day and staying the weekend. There wil most likely be a fairly large group travelling from Canada that we might meet up with. Hope to catch you along the way or at Don's!
  3. Yah! From the pictures that sucker SCREAMS red!! Good luck with it, Rooster!
  4. Found out your 1st gen is a tad tall, eh?!!?
  5. There are a couple of aftermarket stators out there that give a little more output than stock. You might want to talk to Rick at Buckeye Performance. He is a member here and gives a discount to vr members. He's listed in the vendors who give us discounts area. Yhere is also an oil cooling kit available for the early mk1's but there is a good chance that the mod to correct the inadequate cooling has already been done to yours under recall. Do a search as this has been discussed here in the past. As ling as your rectifier is working OK there should be no real reason to replace it at this time. They are pretty much a works or don't work item...
  6. 9003, I stand corrected. It would have been obvious as I think the 9004's have a 90 degree base...
  7. I like EBC's myself, but most any brand should be ok. You might want to consider flushing your hydraqulic system as long as you are going to do your brakes. I like those speed bleeders that you can buy on ebay. Give what Saddlebum suggested and rough up your existing pads first and see if it helps any. All pumping your brakes when wet does is to tend to dry off your pads a little from friction. I assume the pedal feels the same before and after pumping as far as travel is concerned...
  8. OK mone of the best things you can do to get more light out of the MK1's (besides switching over to a Mk2 headlight assembly) is to paint the black rubber casing around the headlight white. You want to remove the rubber piece and remove the glass as well from the plastic frame and clean it really good with a degreasing cleaner, followed by a rinse with rubbing alcohol. Now get yourself a can of cheap gloss white enamal paint and give it a good coat or two. While you are waiting for the paint to dry, head to your local Wally World and buy yourself a 9004 (I think) Sylvania Silverstar or GE Nighthawk High Intensity halogen bulb. The biggest change in light intensity will be from the white paint. Last time I checked, white reflects the full spectrum of light whereas black absorbs it...

    Plug wires

Man, I betcha you get a lot of varied responses to this one, Reiny. I bought a set of those matched wires from ebay, which come with pre gapped NGK plugs. Others will say save money and make up your own set of wires using Excel wires. Yet others will advise you to make sure you replace the resistor caps as well. Do a search on the subject and find there's a lot of good information already discussed on the subject...
  10. Sooo, you switched over to the dark side, eh?? Well, congratulations! Let me tell you how I feel about it. There will always be friendly rivalry between 1st and 2nd gens but it is all in good fun. Neither bike is better than the other, it's all a matter of personal preference. What really matters is how YOU feel about the bike. The first gen is a very nice and comfortable reliable scoot but so is the second generation. That being said... Traitor:stirthepot:
  11. Glad you made it out and back safely! Sorry about the loss of your camera, though. We must have taken about 500 pictures when we went out there a couple of years ago. Mraf is right about Zion and Bryce, and hope you got to see them as well. I'm pulling the '85 into the garage to try to get started and restored this winter. Glad you talked me into taking the title just in case!
  12. Or as some people call it, Dribble...
  13. Uhhhh, let the professionals replace your wife???
  14. Awwww, now you done it, he's gonna get an even bigger swelled head!!! Yes, Squidley is a class act fer sure!
  15. That's one nice looking classic, Giga!
  16. A couple of 2X4's or 2X6's give you the extra room you need. Yes, it makes it possible to remove the rear tire without removing the bags, but by the same token the bags come off easy enough...
  17. If you hear the pump pumping but nothing is happening then chances are your controller is ok but not necessarily. It is more likely you have a bad airhose, a plugged canister, or the connector for the solenoids that direct the air to front or back has corrosion or something. I'd start at the compressor assy first and check for air pressure and then solenoid voltage getting to the solenoids...
  18. Sign me up too, Thom!! Bongo Bob on the bottom. As soon as I have your address there will be a money order in the mail.
  19. Yah! Front can be taken off while on the centerstand. The rear is a little more work, and needs to be on a MC jack...
  20. We would like to hit all 48 but not in one trip! We have the rest of our lives to enjoy each and every state on the scoot. Of course we could always fly to Hawaii and rent a scoot there, and brave the trip to Alaska thru Canada as well...
  21. Thanks, Carl, that answers my question about conflicting with your annual get together. Now we stand a chance of making both events! Frog Man, Becky and I will be spending the week of July 4th in Pennsylvania Dutch Clountry area, probably staying at a hotel near Ceedoo's. Maybe we could meet up somewhere inbetween that week for a ride or something. We are also going to try to make the Skid In at least for a day...
  22. Yah! I already put it on my watch list. Not interested in buying it myself, just interested in what kind of a steal someone is going to get!
  23. Well, it IS an Indian... Lotsa work there, Don, and a commitment fer sure. It wlould take up a lot of your spare time, but in the end you would have a very nice bike to be proud of.
  24. Oh, boy, just what you wanted, ANOTHER parts bike...
  25. I almost bought one of those California Special Edition ones but couldn't get the price down enough. Was riding an XS500 at the time. Very nice bikes indeed...
