1st GEN. SPEED BLEADERS
bongobobny replied to okiefirefighter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You probably won't need the one on the triple tree as the calipers are downstream... -
Gee, and we're happy to see it at $3.69...

Nice pictures!!!

Nice presentation!! Those were the good old days, eh??

Just got back from an afternoon ride with Big Tom and SpankyM and had a great time. Nice sunny day but only about 60 degrees and much colder in the shade. Believe it or not we stopped for ice cream regardless! Put around a hundred miles, give or take. Sure is nice to have a group of friends to ride with!! Not too many weekends left this year around here. Leaves are just starting to be colorful.

Now THAT's a great use for junk mail!!!

losing presets
bongobobny replied to TxVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK, is one of the presets set for 89.7?? If so, the switch is most likely starting to short out. As far as the preset overshooting, perhaps it's program got goofed up. Try resetting it back to the right frequency (tune in, press memo, then the preset you want) and see if that fixes that problem...- 3 replies

3000 suggests that you own a GM product. Other manufacturers recommend longer periods. My Mopar says every 7500 miles. My GM (Chevy) dealer says that now GM admits that you realy don't need to change oil that often. I've used the "Old School" rule of every 4000 miles, and that was the days when Mobil first came out with the Mobil 1 which you strill changed at 4k but the advantage supposedly was Mobil 1 kept it's viscocity for a longer period. That was in the early 60's. Synthetics have come a long way and you can use something like Amsoil purple and be good for 10,000 miles or better. In my younger days I drove a couple of cars that burnt sooo much oil that you never changed it because it was self-changing...

Myself, I PLAN on triking my scoot in a couple of years. I'm in my 60's, and already lost a toe to type II diabetes. My wife is older than myself and still loves to ride. Sure, it will handle a little diferent, but it will still feel the same just touring around enjoying the sites. Performance and handling will be different but I can deal with it.

Rubbing Alcohol and elbow grease might do it. If you are lucky, there was a layer of dust on your scoot before it was painted and a lot of it will be trapped on it rather than your finish... Chrome cleaner will clean up the chrome ok!

Have you tried one of those seat pads that is made from lamb hyde? You may want to try something like that which is far easier than reupholstering your seat. My tourist and myself use a couple of animal mattresses bought from the pet store and they seem to work out OK but we also have this sheep hyde that covers the whole seat and is super comfy! Your main complaint seems to be sore butt after a couple of hours. Actually I have heard this about Corbin seats from a couple of people wnereas others say they are great. Do you have highway pegs? Changing your leg position occasionally helps out or at least it does for me...

They only ask for address if you don't deselect the "Join the club" button on the last page. Deselect and you get your results without entering anything more. It's the same page as entering your birthdade...

Powerful. Agile. Italian style in a badass matte black. Of all the test takers, you are most likely to have been hoping for your result to indicate that your bike is a Harley. It isn't. Sorry. You show the potential to become a superior rider, and you need a bike that encourages and rewards your learning. The Harley will just hold you back, and you'll have nagging feelings that something is wrong. The Suzuki SV series is also a good bet, but it wouldn't appeal to you. Far too Common Interesting comment about the Harley especially seeing as I selected "Don't like Harleys" 4 moxie, 3 zeal, and 8 pimp! Hmmmmm...

Battery Indicator
bongobobny replied to okiefirefighter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, I did that once and it worked out fine. I have since switched over to an Odessy battery and eliminated the sensor. -
Brad, about 6 hrs drive time from our place. We are an hour from the Peace Bridge. I would make it a 3 day weekend if you are planning on going down. Straight line distance for us is around 200 miles but actual highway distance was more like 300 or so...
