Help.... will not run
bongobobny replied to cookieman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK a starter motor DOES put a heck of a load on the battery but I'm not sure it puts that much. Does it crank over at regular speed or does it seem slow?? Sounds to me like it may be new battery time... Of course you could have a dirty ground on the battery cable, or a bad solenoid, or corroded + contact somewhere. One big culprit is those yucky fuse connectors. Read directly across the battery and get back to us! -
We are going to try to make it for at least a day bor two, depending when Sexi Two Timer (The new scoot's temporary official name) is bgack in our possession...

Help relocate TCI on top of Airbox
bongobobny replied to Gdserlin's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yah!! It is a fancy name for a regular MAP sensor, or Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor to set the spark advance wqhere it is needed to be. It gives a control voltage proportional to the amount of vacuum to let the TCI know how much or little to advance the spark... -
intercom, headset questions
bongobobny replied to nosvet's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
We are assuming that the jacks for the headsets already exist on the bike, right?? If not, they both plug into the main amplifier the same place the tuner and the CB plug into... -

Does the red line drop at any of the other points as well, or just at the TCI?? -

OK larger trunk and non removable saddlebags = 1st gen MK2 which is '86 - '92. Now, nut on front axle as opposed to front axle screwing into the fork bottom = '86 and '87 as opposed to '88 up. Ya done good!!!!!

Well, the guys in our machine repair shop clamped the bearing in the vice and pounded on the triple tree shaft. Your best bet is to replace the bearings and races for the small cost of the bearings. The bike will steer a lot smoother...

First off, it seems very strange to be into the 2nd gen tech section!! Any way, I am loking for a good deal on a light bar. Where should I look?? What kind of lights option do I have?? Where should I tie the power from?? Questions, questions...

rider floor boards
bongobobny replied to cagillis's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Schleppo, yes, the MK2 boards can be made to fit. You have to make a set of hangers for your exhaust, and use some of the hardware from the peg mounts, and buy 2 longer bolts, but it does work...- 8 replies

radio upgrade
bongobobny replied to dman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What really makes a difference is if you use the intercom. If not, then just find a nice aftermarket stereo, PREFERRABLY a waterproof Marine one, and fabricate a mounting plate. After you get rid of the stock radio there is plenty of room. You will also loose your CB though doing it that way unless you have an AUX conector, and then you can only listen to the CB or a CD, or the radio... Yes it has been done many times. -
MKI & MKII anti-dive
bongobobny replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The MK2 rear calipers are 4 piston just like the front, not 2 piston. You have to swap out the caliper mounting arm and do a little bit of McGuiver'ing or get the swivel from a MK2 swing arm for attaching the mount arm to the swing arm... -
