Not Charging

Oh Oh, I hope it wasn't one of those "RMS Stators" from Quebec like I just installed in mine... -

Anybody Need A... Part III
bongobobny replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
How fast do you need them, Mark? There is a pair still installed on the forks of the '85 project bike but I wasn't going to tear it apart til the fall or so, but I guess I could rip them off now... -

Perfect spot to go to Auto Zone, or in your case Canadian Tire, and get some adhesive letters/numbers like V4 or some flames or something... Girls will be girls!!

Well, the harness I was going trlo install has toasted wires due to a bad ground wire frying, and another harness that I started to tear apart to just replace the fried wires was in perfect shape, so it's back to plan A, replace just the toasted wiring. ..

You're right as rain, George!! Seems that the line was tied into the brown (switched) line by whoever installed the chin when it was new. The scary part is I'm thinking it was done by the dealer! Part of the harness swap is going to include the fuse update, as conveniently there is already a new stryle fuse strip on the spare harness...
-
Thanks, Mike! Luckily I have a spare harness to replace it, but geez, I just got done putting the fairings back on!! Great to hear from you again, my friend! Hope to see you this summer. Hopefully will be back together for Carl's M&E next weekend...

What, you didn't reads the fine print about ALWAYS being a member until you die, regardless of what you ride or even if you don't ride anymore??? Check your binding contract when you entered your user id... Yah, if I found a super deal on a Wing, I'd buy it too!

I was all set to get Goldie inspected Friday afternon. I pulled it out into the driveway and started it up, left it idling, and went in to get my wallet and helmet. Came out and smoke was rising from the side cover! Seems that I forgot to redress the power lead for the running lights on the chrome chin, and it was against the exhaust pipe. Stupid me!!!!! Now I get to chaqnge out the harness, and hope that the regulator, and my new high output stator, are still all right...

Not Charging

OK there is a second part ofm the electricity producing device we are ignoring, the rotor! suppose there is an off chance that your rotor has lost some of it's magnetism, and the result is less output from the stator. I have a brand new OEM on the way if you want to try it... -
I'm in need of some help
bongobobny replied to Oldseadog's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A speed bleederis a lot cheaper than a vacujm bleder, and works fine as long as the system already has some fluid in it. For the clutch, plan on wasting about a pint to properly and completely bleed... -
Rear wheel bearings and seals
bongobobny replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK one side is a regular sealed roller bearing unit, the right side, and the left side is a needle bearing asembly, which can be a real bear to remove!!! All I can say is good luck, and expect to totally destroy the needle bearing by removing it. Sometimes they will pop out with minimum problems, and other times they won't! I have a perfectly good rim that I am going to have to cut the race out to get it out!! Start with removing the larger, right side one first. Pry the seal out on both sides before you try beating the bearings out... -
Yes, seal C is the important one!! It goes on the piston and is the main seal. It's a bit of a struggle to get the old one off and the new one on and not damage the new seal. Make sure you put the new one on the same way the old one is, you can put it on backwards. Also, while it is apart, it is a good idea to hone the cylander bore or you may end up with the same problem you are having now.

An accident that really hits close to home.
bongobobny replied to Mariner Fan's topic in Watering Hole
That is such terrible news, Bob. We will indeed pray for the family. -
Hopefully, I will have a similar experience this week!! Cnverted the brakes to a MK2 ad rebuilt everything, SS lines, rebilt the forks with prgressive springs, and installed a high output stator. Should have it all together today...
-
OK, not sure f the MK2's but I DO notice there are no "rib" on the casing, which may inicate it IS a VMAX..
