    I was laughing my butt off watching the national news this morning!! less than 2 feet of snow and they are paraylized!! Listened to the report on stranded subway passengers being devestated because there are no bathrooms available. Last month there wre drivers stranded on the NY Thruway for over 24 hrs. One year Buffalo got 7 Feet in 24 hours!!! The worst Buffalo ever had was the Blizzard or '77 which shut down the entire region for a week and the National Guard had to be called out to dig us out! Not belittling their plight as I do understand they are not used to it, just find it amusing the chaos that what we would call a normal snowstorm has caused...

    I can relate!! Many years ago my wife bought me a nice sears craftsman lower and upper unit which got filled in short notice. Since then I have added 3 cheaper lower (rolling) units, one with an upper unit, and added 2 more upper units, and last year another Craftsman setup similar to the first one! Things are certainly a lot more organized with the contents labeled on each drawer. So a word of warning, you have just begun, tools and a place to put them are addictive!!!

    I would assume any good welding shop would do, but a shop that specializes in bikes may be the best bet. I am not sure of the exact difference as I own an '84 but I learned of the difference on this site. I believe it is listed somewhere here, or hopefully someone will chime in. If you have a good established Yamaha dealer in the area they may have the info for you, or just find an '84 on up 1st gen and compare the difference... Later on this winter/spring I will have mine apart and I'll take some pictures for you then.

    The frame problem with the '83's was at the rear shock. They fortified it on the '84 on up. It just needs some additional support welded to it to make it good. Also, the '83 temp gauge reads high. As long as it is not pinned, even if it starts to go into the red, it really is not overheating...

    It should work as a hard drive is nothing more than a storage device, the OS is loaded on the hard drive so it shouldn't matter what OS is loaded. You could also subdivide your hard drive if it was big enough and have selectable OS's I suppose, but I'm not sure. But what do I know, I'm just the 800 lb Gorilla on the trike...

    I got a wi-fi ready blue ray dvd player, a couple of shirts, lower deflectors for the trike, sugar free candy, a Canon Elph camera and a new Clearview XL windshield with the 5 way vent...

    OK bottom line, unless it is running poorly or the valves are clacking away, all you are doing is optomisingvalve operation and making it run just slightly better. Do a compression test and see if all cylinders are almost equal, i.e. within 5-10 psi of each other. If so, then the valves are probably OK. If the seats are bad, no amount of valve adjustment will cure that. Only resurfacing the valve seats is going to fix that...

    Gee, in between Carl's M&E and MD you should plan on spending a day at Niagara Falls. Plan on a day in WNY with us. You may spend some time in this area and ride down with some of the gang from Western New York. Watch out for the one who calls himself Big Tom though, he will probably challenge you to a banana split eating match...
