speedo: Canada vs US
bongobobny replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The gearing for the odometer is different, miles vs kilometers... -
What's the matter Carl, slowing down in your old age?????:rotf:
-
Yes I too will admit that the Venture is a beast that needs and demands respect. I would find something a little smaller at first, and then after a riding season or so under your belt then go for a big cruiser like the Venture...

Nice "last edited at 9:09..."
-
Who says it's a "Him???"
-
Yah! We call those kind of riders "Organ Donors..."
-
Around $300 or so for full coverage on the trike. The '84 costs me a whopping $90 per year bare bones coverage...

We are going to have a non-Venture rider from NC joining us tomorrow!!
-
We are looking very forward to coming!! We are leaving early Wednesday morning and plan on making it to Indiana by evening. Thursday should have us in either Wisconsin or Minnesota, and plan on hitting Gary's late Friday afternoon. So far the extended forcast looks pretty much rain free! We will be staying at the Super8 in Bemidji and commuting daily. We will think of you campers while we are enjoying a glass of wine in the hot tub...

I got a package from them with parts for a Canadian member a few weeks ago...
-
Well, if you're going to be just around the corner from me, I guess we could go...
-
He is obviously in search of road kill...

Glitch in computer monitor.

Yeah! What he said!! You may have 2 separate problems as there is really no tie to the dash and the class system... -
radio cuts out
bongobobny replied to Dbeck's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK the controller is just a bunch of switches and a display. The actual memory for the presets is in the tuner box bolted to the amp box that is bolted onto the fairing frame. There is a separate ground wire coming out of that assembly that is, as mentioned, a spade type connector, not a ring. I would suspect that ground first... -
To answer your original question, I see no reason why you could not use inner tubes...
-
Yup! I can be in 5th as low as 40 mph...

Glad you are writing to tell us about the accident and not someone else, it could have been much worse! Hope everything comes out OK and hope Joyce gets better quickly!

You have every reason to be proud of them Patrick!!! I too thank them for caring enough about their country to serve it as needed! I am behind them 100% regardless of what the nation's opinions may be. They are willingly serving us no questrions asked. Of course as a parent you are going to be worried, you brought them into this world and they are a part of you! But that does not mean that the rest of us can't worry about their safety as well...

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
bongobobny replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Yes I too believe in the power of prayer! There is indeed a God and he hears and answers prayer!!! That is really great news Brad! We will continue to pray and thru faith expect Ponch to make a full and speedy recovery! -
Uhhhhh, because I didn't need 2 sets of armrests?!!? Those armrests in the link look nice but do they lock into place??? On a trike the passenger gets thrown sideways a lot more than on 2 wheels. I just don't like armrests that swing out because of safety reasons..
-
Good luck Cindy!!! Wish we could help but I'm not anywheres near either place. I'm sure you will like Louisville, been thru it and it seems like a nice area. Hope you like baseball...

Did not check the Pork in the Pines as officially we have not attended but as of next month that is changing! We do plan on making Vogel some time in the future. The two local biggies are Marcarl's May Madness and Big Tom's WNY Regional Rallye this coming weekend at Pioneer Motorsports (shameless plug...)

Actually, where the carb boots leak is at the base when the rubber band "O" rings start to deteriorate. Jack is right, the boots themselves rarely leak. I went from 1st gen to 2nd gen myself so I can honestly speak of the differences. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Overall I liked my 1st gen better but I also certainly do not dislike my 2nd gen in any way. The 1st gen had better throttle response, was a lot more maneuverable, and wasn't so easy to drop at a stop. The 2nd gen has a lot better riding position and doesn't need as much mechanical attention being new. As far as the dash goes, well, thing 1957 Ford because that's what it rreminds me of! One of the things I don't like about the fork mounted fairing vs the fixed frame mounted fairing is the fact the mirrors move when you are turning. I almost got sideswiped doing a U turn down in Arkansas from this. Luckily I did the proper thing and looked over my shoulder first as I was starting the turn and saw the car. We ended up dropping the bike anyway when I stopped as the road was crowned and I had turned the wheel back towards the shoulder. This brings about one of the 2nd gen flaws, it's top heavy. You do not want to stop or start without the wheel being straight ahead. Low speed maneuvers can be very tricky to say the least. Of course to be fair there are lowering kits that improve this but the real problem is the higher center of gravity. On a plus note though, they are not as tall as the 1st gen's but they are a wide bike at the saddle. Rick Buttler can modify the seat though to help alleviate this condition. I wouldn't hesitate to replace your 1st gen with a 2nd gen but if you get a chance swing a leg over one and take it for a good ride first to see how you feel about it. If you ride 2 up a lot you may find your navigator will find the 2nd gen more comfortable, but there are a couple of mods to do. The trunk can be moved back, add armrests, and a set of passenger highway pegs. Take a towel or something and put it in the space between the seat and the trunk.
