  1. Another thing to check is both the front brake lever and the clutch lever. They both have microswitches that if the levers are loose a bit will dis engage or not engage at all. Might want to look at cleaning them out and see if tha makes a difference.
  2. Keith, I know that Owen replaced his front springs in his RSV with a lowering set that moved the front end down without moving the forks up. Might want to get ahold of him and see what kind they were
  3. Dave, Here is the parts view of the antennas wih the Yamaha numbers. put yours in as an '06 and it's on the Audio Equipment 1 page view. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/parts/home.aspx It looks like in the pic that your looking for the am/fm antenna mount the part # is 4XY-88141-10-00 but your going to go into sticker shock when you see how much it is. If you need some help getting one from this side of the pond let us know.
  4. Very nice Gunny.....Semper Fi
  5. .....Plan B
  6. No, you dont have to take the tank off to do the carbtune.
  7. Like I have mentioned before, I dont want anyone to not try this, but I definitely want folks to know the outcome of a bad situation and plan for it. I have seen tires let go also, tire cages are a 1 time deal as when a tire goes incased in 1 the cage is junk afterwards. Like you mentioned the wheel jumped 15 feet, that will take a persons head off. The 50 ft hose is how we used to fill our helo tires up, standing at a 45 degree angle to the valve stem...just incase it did let go. I just want folks to be safe when they do this incase they aren't having a tire shop do this for them. I dont want anyone thinking I'm bashing this process about using a C/T, just be safe and live to ride another day
  8. Tom, We'll keep you both in our thoughts, thanks for keeping us in the loop my friend. All the best to Vic, be safe.
  9. Thanks Harry, I checked out his auctions and there is 3 things I would like to try and win. That inner fairing looks good, lets only hope I can get it at a decent price....Thanks again for the heads up
  10. If your fairy certain that it is a tire sound your hearing....change out the tire. You mentioned Metzlers, personally I feel that the 880 metz is one of the most dangerous tires on the market for the Venture. I know of too many people that have had very bad issues with them and I wont use them on anything I own. Not preaching here, it's your call, but Metzer and noises coming from what is believed to possibly be a tire is bad news
  11. I want to say something here, even if this is the Darksiders forum. For those of you that have talked about seating a CT with 100 lbs of air, you obviously have NEVER seen a tire blow up. There are many tricks to get a tire to seat without using 100 lbs of air. A spotlessly clean rim is the biggest deal to get it to slide up on the rim. A very minute piece of crap on a rim will incumber the tire sliding up on it. Lubing it up VERY liberally will also make the transition better. I have managed a tire store in the past and have had many tough tire installs. I have NEVER used over 50 lbs of air to seat a tire on anything. Removing the valve core is the best way to fill a tire. If I can't get the tire to seat with 50 lbs of air I let all the air out and try it over again. I may have to do this 3 or 4 times but everytime you stretch that tire a bit more and it will seat over. I'm saying this because I dont want to see anyone here kill themselves to install a CT on their rim. Use common sence and be educated on how to install this mod properly, I can tell you this, an exploding tire will take your head off...PERIOD
  12. Don, I have never heard of a Venture flooding the cylinders because of the petcock. I have always kept mine on reserve and payed attention to the gas gauge. As mentioned it's not a gravity fed, you dont have anything to worry about.
  13. They will have a good time too
  14. You ain't right!!
  15. The headlight bucket should just come out of the nacelle, probably just beligerant and needs a little coaxing.
  16. Some folks do this and it does work, but spend the money for the Carbon One lift. I have had 3 of them and love them. 2 of them I gave away to friends with RSV's and they love them too
  17. Buy some heated pants and use a full face helmet, I know here your coming from. I rode to work (when I was working) 52 miles 1 way in 27 dgrees, I had GOOD chaps on and my legs got cold on my RSV. Heated clothes are awsome for cold weather riding....have a nice ride home
  18. David was good enough to let us know about it, I only wish we could have been there with you all. I know you had a good Bday with all those nuts there
  19. Looks very nice Patti, I'm not a flame type guy, but those are minimalist and look good, the B2 is just the icing on the cake
  20. Kreg is on the money, if it just pukes as soon as you put it in gear I would suspect the kickstand switch also. The brake bleeding can be a tedious job, dont know where in Tennessee you are, but there are a few members there that ar very helpful and knowledgeable. RandyA is the 1st one that comes to mind in Johnson City.
  21. It's a great hotel and they wait on us hand and foot, you wont be disappointed
  22. Get what your heart wants Ron, as always, the grass isn't always greener. I have an older shovelhead and I have been able to ride it around a bit. I will say that yes the newer Harleys are better than the old, but still shake badly. My Harley was a gift, and for that reason I will never get rid of it. I have sat on many bikes and rode an awful lot of them. The RSV is the most comfortable bike that I have ridden on. I like the thought of having the best of 2 world for my soul, the RSV when I want to ride without concern and the H/D when I tink that my grandfathers had theirs, make me feel closer to them even though they have long sinced passed on. Go with your heart, if your not into 3, 4, 500 mile day trips perhaps the H/D is a better fit. Life is too short to not follow your heart when it comes to a toy like a bike.
  23. My 13 yo neice in California loved the '99 I had when we went there in '06. She got 3 rides on it and the last one was a ride to school. She had me pull right up to her girlfriends as she got off and put the leathers and helmet in the bike...she was stoked to say the least
  24. Great pics, y'all had a great time as told by the photos. I truly wish we could have been there, being poor sucks! Glad that George had a great birthday
  25. That looks really really good, those lights are some of the coolest things I have seen, thanks for the link BTW nice score on that trailer!
