As much as it is a bummer for the businesses about the dragon being closed down, there are so many great riding road within 100 miles of the dragon nobody has to do without the twisties. I did the dragon once, with a trailer behind me on a 1st gen. It's a fun road, but there are too many aholes on it that have zero regard for anyone else. I have no want to go back to 129

passing Lamp Installs
Squidley replied to Rickster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Rich, Just to elaborate a bit for any and everyone else, like Walt mentioned the relay will be powered up by an accy wire. That way when you turn the ignition swith off the relay is powered down and your driving lights go off. I have the driving lights on the '89 directly hooked up into a relay without a switch. When I turn the bike to the on postion the light are on, when I turn the key off they are off. I just take my continuity light and find a wire that is activated by the position of the ignition, thats the one I use to switch power the relay. -
Mike, Glad to hear you got it figured out I recommend all the 1st genners doing this as it makes it so much easier to swap out a TCI unit when it's right in front of your face

It's all good Keith, we'll keep having them and you'll be able to make one of them Once Lonna and I get into our new place in Conroe we'll get a BBQ going on there before too long

Open it up and check the fuses on the inside, perhaps there is one for that specific channel....you big dummy!

same thing here, I din't even put any sealant on it just tapped it back in. The metal is soft enough that it swedges itself back in for a seal. BTW you gonna be able to make it to Waller for Kbays maintenance day Keith?

Both front and rear speakers Chuck? There is a fade option on the G2. Only other thing I could think of is a loose connection behind the fairing or that it really is crapped out?

Rick, I have done several driving light installs on the G2's. Do it right and run a wire under the tank, pull the tank also as you want all the room you can get to see where to run the wire. I personally have added an aux fuse block to all the ones I have done as it's easier to have another separate fuse system to install accy. Run a good gauge wire from the fuse/battery 10 or 12 gauge to the relay. Get a good switch, atleast 20 amps, dont use that piece of crap one that comes with the kit, it's too small and I just replaced Gunboats on his lights as the small wires couldn't handle the load of being fed directly from the battery. You will notice a lot brighter light if you do this and the lights wont be hooked into your ignition -
There are some special tools that need to be used to pull the tubes apart. I believe there is a write up here on the site. I changed Karls pretty easily, it's not a job for the faint of heart, but it's not brain surgery either. Look at the write up and see how you feel about doing it. That dealer....you can guess wher I'd be telling him to go, he's full of BS.

Brian, This might not be what you want to hear, depending upon wht style of Kuryakyn grips you have I would get rid of them. I had a set of the Iso Grips on 1 of my '99's and it broke in half! I just dont like the quality of some of the Kury stuff. As far as the grip, many put dishwashing liquid mix on it and it slides on pretty easily, when it heats up the soap dries and actually acts like glue. I know others will chime in here with other "Recipies"

Muffler mod on 1997 RSTD
Squidley replied to TeresaGood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Teresa, If I'm not mistaken your RSTD is a 4 pipe setup, so you would have to swap the entire pipe system with an RSV or later TD with the 2 into 1 pipe setup on each side. You could then install a set of R/K mufflers on that, but I dont know where the mounting points would be. They probably aren't the same as an RSV. -
Thank you !!!! V7goose
