  1. Derrek, I have had LL on all my RSV's and never noticed any difference. I think your fine as long as you dont have to get into that panic stop situation.
  2. Glad that you got out and the thumb is healing up, a good cause for sure my friend
  3. Good to hear your almost back to the homestead Gary. What an adventure you 2 had, thanks for letting us vicariously live your life through the pics
  4. I used to make them years ago, but JB took it over and he's not on here much anymore. If we have a great need for a decent amount more I'll make up a few sets if there is any interest. It's a labor of love as there isn't much profit in it for the time that is put into making them.
  5. What actually happened, couldn't really make it out beside them pulling a bike out of the ditch?
  6. Me thinks it's you Gary...yeah I know no big surprise there I have no issues with Firfox here
  7. Here is Carbon Ones adapter and I have one myself, well worth the money and the quality is impeccable. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2673&title=carbon-one-freestanding-lift-adapter&cat=7
  8. Bob, As mentioned you more than likely need a new set of fork springs. If they are the original ones they are worn out. The Superbrace is a big improvement also. The tires that are on the bike IMO suck, I dont like many of the Dunlops as for me they track road imperfections badly. I have a set of the E3's on the '89 I ride now, but they still do things that I dont like. Another thing too is check the rear swing arm, there is an adjustment for the bearings at the arm pivot. I have tightened a few of them in my day and the difference is immediate. It will take a bit of getting used to, but the 1st gen is a fine machine. Some taller guys dont like that it cramps their legs, but others love the foot position. Let us know what you come up with and we'll steer you through it....welcome to the site
  9. Nice one Pinky!
  10. Almost 20 years ago I was one of those guys, that is a feeling that only a few know. There are things in life that take you back to a moment in your life so vividly that you feel you are back there again....that video took me there. God Bless ALL our Warriors past, present and future. Semper Fi
  11. Welcome back home Brother....welcome back
  12. I think it's just the lighting Forest, my '99's looked like that.
  13. Nice job having Karen wash the bike!
  14. Mick, I am currently working on redoing a '99 that has a lot of the plastic missing. It all depends upon how long you want to take to get it done. One thing I will say is that take into consideration all your time your going to spend repairing it, thats worth money in my book. I wouldn't buy any bike for any more than 50% of what fair market value is. It has to be a screaming deal as there WILL be issues come up at some point.
  15. Jim, Congrats on the scoot, I have has 3 '99's and I have loved everyone of them. The stock seat setup is more than likely what your looking for. There are 3 styles of stock seats, '99 & '00 were a bit stiffer, '01 to present were pillow tops and many folks like them a lot (me being 1 of them) and on the midnights from '02 to '06 were the stiffer model with chrome studs on them. You can pretty regularly pick up the early seats cheap and have Rick Butler (member here in Texas) perform his mod on them in creating a tailbone relief and adding some memory foam. The Pillow tops will cost you some bucks as most guys with the older models want to install the pillow tops on them so that drives up the price. Welcome to the club and we hope you enjoy it here
