  1. I have a friend who lost his leg in a mc accident. After one year plus his uncle gave him his 82 Gold Wing. He tried riding it some, but the fear overcame him. He asked me if I wanted it (I used to own one) and I am trying to come up with a fair price. It is very clean and the red paint is good. I will have to find out the mileage but it appears mechanically sound. I want to be fair with him, but I don't want to overpay either. Let me know if you have any thoughts!
  2. If you want arm rests on an RSV then go to Diamond R. My wife loves the ones I put on mine.
  3. You are all bringing back those youthful memories. I bought a 64 Chevelle SS convertable (before graduating high school) it came with a 327 CI, 300 HP, Muncie 4spd. That lasted until the GTO came out and I put in a thunderstick cam with dual quad Rochesters and 411 gears. I could eat any GTO around.
  4. I have over 100K on my 02 Venture and know of a guy in Florida with 260K on his Venture. Being well maintained is the key element, and I would ask for his service records.
  5. Ten inches here in Bessemer City, NC and Friday it is going to be 70 degrees F. Interstate 85 was shut down (both directions between Kings Mountain, NC and Gaffney, SC) last night around 10 PM untill 6 AM today due to accidents. It is still snow covered this afternoon and will get to 15 F. tonight. I have lived in NC since 1986 and this is the most snow I have seen since leaving Omaha, NE.
  6. Did you buy your RSV new? If not, it may have a high output alternator in it. On this type you solder the connections.
  7. The clutch lever is connected to a hydraulic resevoir, I am trying to understand why the lever was tight and would not release all the way. The rest of the clutch linkage is totally hydraulic and "never" needs adjusting.
  8. No, that is not one of the questions, but I am sure that the Obama government will have one printed soon. I heard that Speaker Nancy Polosi threw cold water on the "assault weapons" bill that Obama wanted. She is afraid of taking on the NRA at this time, but will go for it later.
  9. I have filled out census forms for five decades and this one is unbelievable. They question you about everything. It is like a diary of your living. I don't feel comfortable in the "confidetiallity" of it. Why does it matter how many rooms, how far to work, how many people ride with me, how much I earned last year (to the dollar), etc? They want to know everything about all occupants of the household and your house payment. They even admit it takes thirty-eight minutes to fill it out! I feel like I am being set up as a "stimulus" to pay back the trillions that our government gave away to others. I'm mad
  10. Congratulations on having a job. Nice looking tractor! Last one I drove over the road was a Diamond T, now that ought to date me. It was a nice rig for the times.
  11. With these on, does your bike settle down close to the pavement? The cars I see with these seem to come to a stop and squat down. Ohh and they have musical horns!:rotf:
  12. My votes are as follows: Most Fun: 3 different Triumph T120 Fastest: Norton 850 Commando Coolest: Arial Square Four with left sidecar Proudest: H-D Duo Glide Police (still own) Most Expensive: 2000 H-D Ultra Classic Missed Most: Honda 305 Scrambler Best Touring: 2002 Royal Star Midnight Venture
  13. The one to own is one of the special built Cushmans for the Shriners. Now these were state of the art.
  14. Being originally from Nebraska, I wear nothing but "western boots" and they have rubber soles and heels. I prefer good brands...Justin, H/H, and any good quality boot manufacturer. I always buy at a store east of Kansas City (about 40 miles on I-70) called "Klienschmidts". My wife knows that whenever I head west and get close to this dealer that I will buy one or two pairs of boots. They have a huge inventory.
  15. I have made the ride to DC many times and will do so again this year. This is not a ride for pleasure or notoriety, the ride is only (repeat) only to honor our fallen brothers and our missing brothers. The weekend is solemn and deserves the respect it deserves. If you make the ride you will leave with a new feeling of patriotism.
  16. The cassette MP3 player is proof of Yamaha's genius in keeping the cassette player a decade into the new millenium. I can see the gen 3 Venture still with a cassette player. A modern revival.
  17. I bought my 02 RSMV and got 0 percent for one year (I think), after three or four payments, I couldn't stand it and paid it off. I like not having to make payments.
  18. I, too, am a loyal Gerbing user. I have had Gerbing gloves, pants liner, vest, and socks for nearly twenty years. I purchased newer gloves four years ago and everything works fine. I have never had a complaint with their products.
  19. If they did come out with a new RSV I couldn't afford it anyway, so this way my beloved 02 is still in style.
  20. Been in the mid 70's F here in North Carolina since last Saturday.
  21. I run the Dunlop 404 in whitewall and I have been very pleased with them. I used to run a Metzler up front and a Bridgestone rear both in WW. Metzler did not make a WW rear then and I still don't think they have one. The Metzler handles very nicely but I had a problem with the third one I owned. I have never had Avon so I have no comment on them.
  22. 2002 RSMV and a 1962 H-D Duo Glide with jockey shift.
  23. Nope, me neither. I rarely check it, but whenever I do it is perfect.
  24. Riding Riding Riding Shooting Building furniture Riding Riding Riding Listening to my wife complaining about my Riding
  25. Where do you order/view this lift adapter? DUUHH, never mind. I got a brief moment of lucidity and looked in the classifieds.
