We went for a short ride yesterday & 86 VR quit in the middle of the street. Idled it into a lot & removed LH fairing, where I saw my throttle cable, broke in two about 2 inches from the idle screw. Towed home. The metal curved shroud & spacers were balancing in place & I saved them. I've looked-up the info on this fix & it looks like a nightmare. One end moves with the carb linkage [finger] & the other moves with the throttle. Which of the 4 cables is this? What is involved in fixing this? Thanks in advance for any info.

The doesn't work. If the bike runs a while the tach moves to about 1000 RPMs, but doesn't respond with engine speed changes. I have removed the gauge and it moves freely. Any thoughts.

A while back I had asked about a fuel problem I was having. I had changed the plugs, wires, and caps. I ran Seafoam through a few tanks. But I was still only getting about 33-34 mpg. Someone here had mentioned that I might have a float problem and told me how to check for the fuel vapor rising out of the carbs after I shut it off. I didn't see any vapor but I did notice that one slide was not moving at all. I pushed it open with my finger and it wouldn't close. So I pulled the diaphram and slide out so I could clean the carb where the slide moves. there was some build up of something along one side of it and it came clean fairly easy. The slide moves freely now. Now I wonder if I'll get my milage back.

I check my oil about once a week when I am just riding around locally and daily when I'm on a long trip. I've never had to add oil on either of my RSVs or my Vstar 1100. It never moves off the mark. I was just wondering if anyone ever has to add oil between oil changes? DT

The serendipity house still stands. You can rent her out for $1700 a week. Best ocean view on the outerbanks. The underhouse parking is not what it use to be.
