  1. Oh I'm just here to through a monkey wrench into all of this,,,, after all June 19 is Father's day,,,,,,don't know if that matters,, but I expect everybody to bring ME a father's day present. I wouldn't worry too much about the trustees of the Oberlin though, we could sleep somewhere else,,, and don't they have a meeting every year? The Oberlin would be nice though, it's a good place to be.
  2. Carl has a meeting tonight, can't squeeze out of this one,, but Wed or Thurs are maybes
  3. Oh boy,,, just by this post you opened up a whole can of worms,,,, we don't have our heads in SAND around here you know.
  4. It won't hurt a thing, other than to make things dirty. If it starts to really leak bad, you'd better keep a close eye on the oil level. You can do the work, it'll take some time but you can do it, we'll help you on line if need be. Do them all at the same time, the cost isn't that great. While you have the covers off it would be a good time to check valve clearances. So give yourself some hours of relaxation and contentment working on your own scoot.
  5. Look what I found in my driveway last night when I got home. I'll let you guess the year. Really nice shape, maybe it's a gift,,,,, but I can't find the keys. Buddy thinks it's alright as well.
  6. This is what I've done with my 85. Added LEDs, in the trunk, under the tail light, on the back and the sides of the trailer hitch. Also replaced the 1157s in the tail light with 1157 leds from Superbright, and then added a flat panel set of lights which I glued to the reflector section in the center of the tail light for brakes.
  7. Well did you get stuck????
  8. Well the Memorial day weekend is one weekend after our Victoria Day weekend. Now in the past,, for as long as the past has been, there has been a Meet & Greet, now called a Venture In, at Marcarl's the weekend after the Victoria Day weekend, so that would explain why I felt such pain, when I started reading this thread. When I go it all figured I realized I might not even be in attendance at Marcarl's Venture In.............but that seems to be changing now, so maybe I'l get to be at both.
  9. Thanks, this'll be a great tool.
  10. I can't really say for sure what fixed it for me, but it was either the wheel bearings or the upper forks adjustment, or both. It wouldn't take much in either case to cause this issue. The allowed movement in the bearing may not be able to be felt just by wiggling the front wheel, and if the fork height is out just slightly it could also contribute to the problem simply by having the scoot leaning of to one side to start with.
  11. Had that same problem with my 85, and Wizard with his 84. He installed Metzlers and fixed the issue, he was running brand new Avons. I was also on a new rear Avon and so changed to another new one but had the same problem, so I went to Dunlops and still had an issue. Interesting thing was, that once I put a passenger on the back, everything went as well as expected. So last winter I pulled the whole front end apart, started with new wheel bearings. When I put it back together, everything went back together lose first. I then snugged up the front axle, then tightened the fork brace, I then checked the level of the forks in the triple tree and tightened them in and then I finished with the torque on the axle. All is now happy happy, but I still haven't worn out the Dunlops so that I can try the Avons again.
  12. I really think I would blame the kick stand switch. I know you have 2 replies so far, but I think I'm right, so first check out the kick stand switch.
  13. That's kind of what I was thinking,,, I'm glad you feel the same way. And thanks for doing this,,,,,, bet it kept you busy for a while.
  14. Just recieved the units shipped here, 7 all told, so that would be 5 for me and one for Wayne and one for Ben. Now let's see, if there was 2 broken ones, who would they belong to. No real fear though, I do have 2 extra to sell them if need be.
  15. Isn't it awesome to have a Father with promises He can keep?????
  16. Boy, next time I take my own camera,,,,,,, no pictures at alll???????????, maybe have to invite a photographer next time and then find someone who knows how to post this stuff on the site.
  17. Is it dripping??????
  18. I don't exactly remember what it cost but my memory tells me about 400 to 500 dollars, but then I did everything in site. All new gaskets, new thrust washer, new coolant hoses, new o-rings for the oil pump etc, rebuilt the clutch slave, new valve cover gaskets, and I replaced 2 transmission bearings that I figured weren't as good as when they were new.
  19. I think it's time that we all start looking after Mini. Don't know how to plan this one out yet, but me thinks that somehow we could have someone watching her, day and night. There's just no need for one of our members to be in such dire straights as that and nobody close at hand to bail her out. Maybe we could post some ideas and then have a poll to see what to do about this dilemma.
  20. No way,,,,, I like the toxic story real good,,,, wonder what else they put in food today,,, and after all, who am I to argue with a government official.
  21. Marcarl

  22. Now what did you expect????????????? huh ????? They're all there with their tongues hanging out,,,, if only they could all have experienced the first gen,,,,,, then they could have said more about speed,,,, and power,,,, and nibelness,,,,, and STYLE!!!!!!!
  23. Now if you got up in time on a holiday,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe the age thing is happening.
  24. How come you didn't say anything about the toxic thing. Was probably the cheapest way for them to comply to government regulations.
