  1. It is 77F here, and not a cloud in the sky. A tad breezy, but riding without heavy gear and feeling warm is so nice. Sat on the cafe's patio, had a great burger and something hoppy. You could tell everyone was enjoying Global Warming... so many smiles, and so many short skirts. But, I had an appointment to see the doctor on my day off. 1:45PM. Just the right time to prevent a nice "there and back" ride today. I called at 12:30, because I wasn't sure if it was 1:30 or 1:45, and learned they'd set me up with the doctor I disliked. We rescheduled for Monday. So I missed a good long ride for nothing. Coulda put on 500 miles today instead of 150. Still, it's hard to complain about 150 miles in the most perfect weather you are likely to see, in January. Thanks for listening. Hope it's just as nice where you are. Dave
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140345607769&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT That thing sure looks great!!!! At a great price so far. I told the Warden if it went under 2000 it was mine and she didn't complain. I should have said 2500:crying::crying: Somebody could have one of the Best here.
  3. The one weekend that I had to do my clinical rotations for the Emergency Room coincided with the Texas Stampede. It is about a 5 hour ride from here, but I had all kinds of plans to leave right after my shift yesterday and then be back here in time to start the shift at 4 this afternoon, but my instructor called a study hall for yesterday for a refresher. (4 of the 6 of us failed the exam) I asked if I had to be there because I had passed (96%). She said that she wanted me to mentor the other students. I need this course for my potentially next career. I am a nurse already but the Army requires the civilian exployees (which I hope to be in March)to have a paramedic certification to teach the same thing that I have been doing for 25 years. I know JB, Tom and Maverick will bring great pictures and stories back, but Mama told me to stop whining to her, so I thought I would write it out. Sorry to complain. At least I can still ride all winter, and I know some of you already have Seafoam or Stabil in them looking forward to another early spring, so what do I have to complain about. Wow this is therapeutic. Thanks for the chance to vent. Wilkie PS UTAdventure...... will be back in Utah for Thanksgiving so I feel your pain
  4. This is a good reminder of how lucky I am and to be thankful for all that I have, my true love, my family and friends. Bobbie There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.' One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her: "Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear for before they were yours, they were mine.' This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Life Is a Gift Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren. Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -Think of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around to enjoy this wonderful world!
