From what I can gather, it's not charging. Could be a number of issues that can cause this. Are the battery terminals clean and tight, and are they tight on the cable. There is a 3 wire and a 5 wire connector on the left side of the bike. With the motor off, take these apart and clean them, check them also for any over heating\burning. Add some dielectric grease to keep things in good shape. Your system should show more than 13 volts with a fully charged battery. Obviously the stator is charging, but not enough to keep things going. With the bike running at 2000rpm, and a fully charged battery, you should get a reading of around 14 volts.

Is that his older brother or younger brother?

Need Assistance with a Carburator
Marcarl replied to casiper's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You'll have to give us some more info: What do you mean by sticky, Does it get fuel. What makes you think it's not working. -
Just use the original wires to feed a relay which in turn will feed the horn. For good instant response the horn should be fed directly from the battery, a relay will do that.

For you guys that carry a string kit on your scoot. I believe that it comes with a glue if I'm not mistaken. Last week I went to use a brand new never been used kit and the glue was all evaporated,,, you may want to check that.

Ok, now I'm going to be serious,, maybe: 1) Keep in mind we are the best in what we do when we are enjoying what we're doing, so if he doesn't want to ride, for a day, or forever, he is not going to be his best at it if he should ride at that time. And we all know we need to be at our best when we ride or it just ain't safe. 2) Life is a funny thing. We need to live with ourselves as well as with others and others need to live with us. Change happens, in our lives as well as the lives of others, sometimes the effects of change are positive and sometimes not. What makes a relationship beautiful is how these changes are dealt with within that relationship. There is give and take, but we should mainly focus on the give. Funny thing is that the more we give the more we seem to receive, and the more we take the less we seem to get. So something has changed, and it seems to be affecting you a lot. There are 2 ways to look at issues in ones life. If you have an issue, you first need to define if it's a problem (something a person can do something about) or a situation (something one can't do anything about). If it's a problem, you can investigate the best approach to effect change around the issue, if it's a situation then it's time to effect change with ones self so that it makes life easier and nicer to live. That's called attitude adjustment. Sounds harsh when you first hear it, but when used becomes a real bonus in ones life, for like it or not, we like\love things or dislike\hate things entirely on our take, or attitude toward things in our life. So far, it seems that you have not been able to effect change, so for now it may be a situation and it's getting under your skin and is going to cause more serious problems, so make an attitude adjustment,,, at least for now. In time, things may change around and you'll find that you made need to adjust that attitude again, but for now, life is flying by and you may be missing out on some other valuable things in your territory because you're so hung-up on one thing. Now that I've re-read what I wrote I can say: Boy, that looks easy!,,,,, not quite as easy as it looks from my end,,, I know that,,,,, and I do sympathize with you,,,, but I also want to see that each day goes well with you, not just some here and there. Hope this helps. Carl

HELP! cant get brakes bled!
Marcarl replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It is important that the piston comes all the way back, so there should be just a wee bit of play between the lever and the piston when it's relaxed or the piston won't be back far enough to 'breath' through the holes that Squeeze was talking about. -

If nobody can, then He still can,,, we'll just ask if He will. After all, He made us and the rest of the world, we can't screw it up so bad that He can't fix it. Prayer sent! -
1st Gen front end "rebound"
Marcarl replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
In this case you may have your steering head bearings just a little loose, maybe a 1\16th of a turn. You can tighten them a bit and then carefully take it out for a ride and see how it pans out. If you have them too tight, you'll find the bike is steering on it's own and wants to go it's own way, not the way of the road. -

My problem with the Condor Brace was that exactly, it wouldn't fit, so I loosened the axle bolt to get it in. Later, I actually reshaped the brace just a little to get it to fit nicely, but not sure if that is now an issue. I gave my OEM brace to somebody else but am going to try the OEM from Wizard765 soon. Maybe I'll find something out. -

My 85 will do something like that, but it doesn't take all that funny movement to do it. When I come to a stop, maybe a little hard at the end, my front end will 'dive' , go down, stay there and won't come back up until I happen to release the clutch a little and then up it pops. This doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes.. I have progressives and normally run about 4 pounds of pressure in the front, simply because it won't go any less. I also have a 'squiggle' at 120 kph. I wonder if it's all related. And yes, I have tore the whole front end down and put it back together very carefully,,,, but maybe I missed something. -
Congrats you two,,,, I'll bet he's good lookin'. Go give him a hug:thumbsup2:

If you look into the exhaust end of the muffler, you can see a small 'plate' in the middle. It takes about a 3\4" or 7\8" bit to clear this out. I started with a 7\16 twist drill and then finished the job with a 7\8" spade bit..... so much for the spade bit, but it worked. There is also one if you look at the inlet of the muffler, so if you want you can remove it as well, but now you might be running into more issues with carbs and noise.

Looks good guys,,, now all you need to do is to add a trailer hitch,,, 'cause you just know that won't be enough room, now that she thinks she can take stuff!!!
