  1. Right you are Eck! I'll bet the Dealer put the wrong oil in his scoot. Boomer.....running hard and with the right oil.
  2. I have never heard of Yamalube creating clutch slippage problems. From what I have read at this Site and my own experience I do believe that "Energy Conserving" oil is not good for the wet clutch on these Ventures. For the past year I have been using the Mobil 1 Racing 4T Fully Synthetic 10W-40 4 Cycle Motorcycle Oil and am very happy with it. Shifting is super smooth,no clutch slippage, and a good reduction in the "whine". The oil is a bit pricey and can be obtained via Amazon.com as well as the Purolator oil filter. I change oil and filter every 3K because I feel the bike is well worth it. Changing your own oil/filter will save you time/money compared to having the Dealer do it. Its not a difficult job to do on the Venture. Good luck and ride safe! Regards.........Boomer
  3. With the scoot being under Warranty and you letting the Dealer choose the oil for you I'd run that bike right back to the Dealer. If he put "Energy Conserving" oil in the bike THAT is causing the clutch slippage. Many of the folks here use synthetic oil....primarily Mobil 1, Amsoil,or Rotella with no clutch slippage problems...... Regards.....Boomer.....who has learned to read oil labels very carefully.
  4. Better keep a close eye on yer electrical wiring in the attic.....those squirrels will gnaw the insulation right off the wires. Boomer.....who believes squirrels belong in a stew pot and not the attic.

    YamaMart.

Yesterday I stopped in at my Dealer and he had a Showroom full.....I got a close up view of the VMax and immediately my wallet started to burn my posterior. Needless to say I got out of there in a hurry! Boomer.....who goes fast enuff on the Venture.
  6. I saw them and passed on em....I like the larger ones as they seem to look much better on the scoot. Boomer.....still lighting up the night.
  7. Yep....Separate circuit with in-line fuse and separate switch as well. The ignition switch on the Venture is prone to early failure if you hook up additional lights to the basic lighting circuit. BTDT and never going there again. Boomer........enlightened by experience.
  8. Sounds like a problem beyond my knowledge of fixing.....but there are those here who will help out for sure. Boomer.....who knows guys that would pay big $$$$ not to hear their wives for 15 minutes.
  9. Bill's recent award: Issue time: Today 04:36 PM Issue reason: He's an OK guy, always willing to help...blah blah blah...this is mostly so that he'll stop whining about it. Boomer.........who thinks Bill toots a mean horn.............
  10. Can't find those helmets for sale anywhere...........Just wondering what the cost is. Boomer..........still looking........
  11. On my Venture the best gas mileage happens at 55-60 mph. At 75+ I really can't enjoy the scenery due to tunnel vision. I don't track the exact mileage per gallon because it is no big deal to me....it's all about the ride itself! Boomer........who does enjoy blowing a Harley off once inna while.
  12. Those lights really light up the road at night and are very visible during daylight as well. Well worth the money spent IMHO. I mounted mine on the upper crash bars of my Venture for a good "triangle" of light pattern in conjunction with the headlight. I also bought an extra set as a backup. If the Company offered those lights chromed they would fly off the shelves. Boomer.......who can light up the night with the best of them now.
  13. Joe I really hope things get better for you soon. Having to give up a bike that beautiful is just pouring salt into the wound. Prayers and good thoughts being sent your way for a quick and better turn around for you. Boomer
  14. Hang tough Don. I'm struggling through every day since I quit smoking about the same time as you did. I keep telling myself quitting is worth every effort I can expend. Boomer........who has chewed off all his fingernails and is now gnawing on his toenails.
  15. Finding parts for a 1st Gen is easy....search under "Antique Motorcycles"...... Now when yer scooting along the highway on that 2 wheeled washing machine and being passed by nerds driving MoPeds think about getting a real motorcycle such as the 2nd Gen surely is. Boomer.......who loves showing his tailpipes to the 1st Gens.
  16. When I purchased my 06 in late Nov-07 the bike had sat in the Dealers warehouse for over 8 months! You can only imagine how gunked up everything was. Taking the advice from members of this Forum I dumped an entire can of SeaFoam into a fresh tank of gas.....and then hit the Interstate! For the better part of the day I ran the bike like I was trying to blow the engine up....and the scoot loved it. By the end of the day everything was clean and the scoot was purring like a kitten. SeaFoam will work but you have to remember this: These Ventures LOVE high RPM's. They are not your GrandPa's Goldwing. Keep SeaFoam in the tank and the RPM's high and your carb troubles will never appear again. Boomer.....aka "Maximus Throttleus"
  17. That bike has to belong to a Cajun!! Boomer.....who's got enuff Cajun in him to know dat for a fact.
  18. Snow and ice that is......... Temps in the low 50's. We had good rainfall last night that washed away a lot of the road sand too. Even the hayfield around my house is showing a bit of green. What's that noise? Oh, its my scoot calling to me for a ride.......... Boomer......geared up and heading out........
  19. I had to fight the urge as well.......... Boomer.....who knows Yama Mama carries a big stick.
  20. Brother I have no idea. I retired back in 93........and you? Boomer.....who was a working E-7 Chief and not a briefcase carrying E-8/9.
  21. Good on you! You will love the bike...........and leaving them 1st Gen's in the dust. Boomer.....
  22. The Baron's are loud.....and they get louder once ya burn the fiberglass out of them too. I have them on my 06 Venture.....Folks tell me they can hear me both coming and going for a great distance. Boomer.......who loves loud pipes.
  23. I would ignore that e-mail if I were you. Boomer.....who suspects that the 2 "pets" you will get will be 2 crated, hungry,PO'd African lions..........and if that is the case....Whatcha gonna do then Willus????
  24. Not a problem for me as I overpaid him........... Boomer.........who's butt is worth way more than the cost of the seat mod.
  25. Man after reading this thread I'm glad the radio works great on my Venture.....as does the cassette player. Boomer......who has a Ipod loaded with over 300 tunes as well.
