  1. I've heard of some members wrapping copper wire to form a gasket. I needed one for the '83 because when I installed the MAC's I buggered one of them up, and the local independant sold me one that looked like silver 'oakum', and it's working fine. I was told that the Yamaha OEM's are now in that material. Those copper exhaust sleeve gaskets hardly ever appear on Ebay. MOF I've only seen one set on ebay....ever, and I bought them. I contacted Sirus, as they sell the other type header ring gaskets, and they didn't even know what I was talking about... If anyone on the board knows of an aftermarket source I'm sure we'd all like to know about it....
  2. Now that's interesting.....
  3. You're gonna have to loosen the front headers in order to give you enough wiggle room to get the collector off. Are you sure the leak is coming from the collector and not one of the gasket clamps being loose?
  4. I've been using www.IOBit.com Advanced System Care. It's free and very good. Keeps my system happy... There's a big difference between a system tuner, and a virus firewall. For those of you not running any type of virus protection, I wish you well. If you get email, it's sorta like playing russian roulette.
  5. Got it Frank. Thanks.
  6. My firewall blocked it.....
  7. I see someone knows how to pull the trigger on a camera.....
  8. Yep.... Looks like a few boats I've seen.....
  9. There's also a brown ground wire that needs to be connected to the frame. The sensor housing is isolated due to it being placed in the hoses. It's a short wire and attaches to a screw just above the housing on the frame.
  10. The group buy deadline is May 31st so if any of you are still interested in picking up a fork brace check out http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35289 Any questions...PM me. http://www.cast-aways.com/QUICKY/braceCompare%20(Small).jpg
  11. Get ahold of Gone14S Kurt probably knows more about Magnas than anyone on here.
  12. So...... Where da pics?????
  13. Wow!! I don't ever want to be in that situation.... I know on the 1stGens Yamaha put the key code on the back side of the ignition switch housing. I'm not sure how easy...or hard it would be to get to it on a 2ndGen.. if it's even there... but it might be worth a shot. A mirror maybe?? You might have to call that lock-smith....
  14. Just for the heck of it back off the R-L balance sync screw on the right side of the carbs about a half turn and see if that doesn't make a difference. #3 and #4 carbs may be adjusted too tight and when you adjust the idle screw on two you may actually be opening up the right side carbs??? If it doesn't help then screw it back in a half turn. Nothing 'Ventured'...[is that a pun??]... nothing gained...
  15. Since it's only your throttle hand, and not both, it may be early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome. Gloves too tight around the wrist could be a minor cause. Getting rid of the vibs may help a little....and is still a good thing...., but concintrating on relaxing your grip will help a bunch.

Corrected the link Randy. Should take you there without any fiddling around except logging in for the day if not done yet....
  17. There are actually several different 1stGen blanks. Of those that I have, the '83 uses an Ilco YH49/X18, and a YH46/X120 (the extra key is for the saddle lock). The '87 uses YH45/X107. The rest are undefinable, but I can see where there is a difference. MOF out of the 6 bikes I don't think there's two of the same key blank....
  18. Thanks for the heads up Jason.....
  19. This may be the color you're looking for. LOWER LEFT It's pricy, but it is new...

  21. No set number needed, just however many send payments before closing it off on the 31st.
  22. Heavy SeaFoam will cause the plugs to foul..... OR...go find a tunnel and turn your ignition off and then back on again while going thru it..... That should clear things up......
  23. I think?? That maybe the hose for your vacuum advance, and on the '83 it comes off the #2 carb. The bib is located above the butter fly between #2 and #4. The 83's are the only 'pre-butterfly/throttle body' advance, and therefore the booster and the TCI are set up differently then the later models which are manafold vacuum.
