I have had my 550 for 3 months now. I love it, but.... It WILL NOT display weather on the screen. The weather is only the little sunshine or rain icons with the forecast written by it. Even if you buy the extended weather, it will not display on the map. I do not have a XM subs. so I can't comment on it, but the mp3 player works very well, and I have an 8GB SD card in it with all of my music. The Zumo 550 will only handle up to 1000 songs, though. You can use it when it is off of the mount, on battery. (4 hours) It has the antenna built in and gets the satelites the same off or on the mount. It has trouble inside of buildings, but sometimes even recieves satelites inside. You can set up routes on the computer and load them in, and also load them manually with just the 550. It works well "stand alone/ handheld except it has no speaker when out of the car mount. On the motorcycle mount it uses the aux jack for earphones or connection to the RSV audio system. When connected to the audio system you hear it thrugh the AUX position. To use the helmet microphone you have to buy the Buddy Rich cable to plug the mic into the audio system. You can then talk on your cell phone useing the bluetooth connection in the zumo 550, and your helmet mic and speakers. It works very well, and is understandable to both parties even at highway speeds. That's a pretty long answer, based on my experiences. Hope it is helpful!!!

Welcome to the site, Mel!!!! I am very excited about you getting a RSV. Now I won't have to call you "my Suzuki buddy"! I also agree that rust/corrosion should not be a problem. These bikes are designed for more of an all weather operation than cars with the wireing inside. Good hunting...Hopeing to hear which one you are getting, soon.

Thanks, Kent, I always look forward to your excelent posts! -
Brad, What an awesome gift!!! Enjoy the memories of your good friend. How ironic, You thought you were helping them out, but you were actually working on your own new ride!! Is'nt it nice when kindness and love sneek up on you like that. It is wonderful for you to have had such a good friend. Even though he is gone now, his friendship is a gift from God that will never leave you. Not everyone knows that kind of frienship..Cherish it ! You and Lonna do such a good job of careing for others, and truely deserve the kindness. I am blessed to have you two as friends!!!

just got my reservations!! Woo-Hoo!! Can't wait. I wonder what I will do to the bike this year? Last year I was not going to do anything to it, and ended up doing carb float adjustment, mike mutes and a new Edset. I am very happy with them all. Who knows---- maybe a car tire????? No- that would be crazy-- Wait a minute--- I'm crazy, so why not???

Sorry Scott, I don't know, but here is a "Bump". Surely someone out there knows about this!! Good luck.

Great pics!!! Thanks for the captions---they help sooo much!!!

Very interested!!! Cooler time of year would be more enjoyable. I had a great time at the rally, but would have ridden more if it was cooler.

Good Luck Cowboy!!! Y'all will be wearin hats and boots in no time. I hear it only takes 9 or 10 years to get used to the heat. Then you will be shivering at 70 degrees. Happy hunting... It was swell to see you both!!

Kent, I have a pair of coils from the rear 2 cylinders of my 99 that I replaced. The right rear was intermittent. It worked good until it heated up. I bought a pair on ebay with the bracket, so I installed the set instead of removeing one from the bracket and reinstalling. I would be happy to send them to you. You can keep or destroy them as you wish. Might be a good test to see which one is bad and which is good? I am at The Hub, so I can't send them until next week, though.

Brad and Lonna, I am sad to hear of your job loss. (or their loss actually!!) I also applaud your attitude, but what I know of you two, I am not surprised by it! Why don't you just retire, and have Lonna open up a cheescake store/ Dairy Queen? You could lay back and take it easy while she works. Ok, I could'nt resist!! Sorry Lonna. I know you two will come out better in the long run, and you have my support, whatever you need. Someplace is going to get some new Good People. Maybe you should reconsider and join us at the Hub rally? It would be really good therapy!

Sorry, I will not be able to make it. We are going to Ft. Wayne, IN to see our 2 granddaughters baby dedication. I would love to come, but I can NOT miss this event. Have a great time---don't eat too much cheese!

I bought led marker lights at my local advance auto for 9.99 each. They are installed directly onto the side of the side bags. you have to drill holes for the screws and wire to go into the bag. they are all hooked together and wired to the bike through a hole on the inside rear of the bag. I put a quick connect on the wire so I can take the bags off if needed. I then covered all of the wires and the back of all the holes (that are filled with the screws and wires) with black duct tape. the tape is visible inside the bag, but the black makes it not noticable. the led lights are very bright and shine out between the bag rails very nicely. maybe not what you were after, but it works well for me. whatever you do, make sure to get leds so you don't overload the elec. system. they cost a little more, but are brighter and have a VERY low elect. load. sorry about the pics. I am on the road with work, and those are the best I have with me.

I am also very interested in coming. Pick a date and I will give it a "high priority" try. Thanks for taking the lead on this!! We need more area events like this.

Bob and Becky, That had to be really scary, and really sad! I, too am glad you are okay! Whatever you did to stay up, was excellent. Most don't do so well against deer. I enjoyed meeting you at Don's and in the Walmart parking lot. I look forward to meeting again. Good job, Bob, Good Job!
