  1. That is a very reasonable price. Back when I had my 1st Gen I looked all over for some with a reasonable price and found none. If I still had it I would buy them. The floorboard riding position was one of the many reasons I bought the 99 RSV. Good luck with the sale, I am surprised that the 1st Geners haven't jumped all over this.
  2. I got home and took some pics. It is not like chrome, but the clear coat makes it shine better than chrome paint. THE PICS WITH THE FLASH ON GIVE IT THE BROWN TINT, BUT THAT IS NOT REALLY THERE.
  3. Sorry, I'm on the road with work, and don't have any pics with me. I will take some when I get home.
  4. I've lost 6lbs so far. feel better already!! Put me down for 10 cents a pound donation, too. Is this going to put DQ out of business??????? That would be very sad.
  5. I purchased the starter kit last winter. I "chromed my air boxes (entire box) and my stock black tank cover around the gas cap (plastic). the finish is nice, and durable, but not really like chrome. It turned out more like a deep gray shiny surface. I like it, but mine did not turn out as good as the video. I did it in my garage and I think it was a little too cold. I have almost no experience painting, and it could very well be my errors. I think the stuff is worth the money to give it a try. your mileage may vary! I figured the price was so much less than air box covers, and even though not as good as real chrome, I like it much much better than black. The kit includes the black base coat, the chrome, a buffing cloth, and the cheaper clear coat. It appeared to me that the quality of your base coat application is very important in the outcome. I still have some left, and may try it again. The parts now look unique to my bike and match pretty well. Hope that helps??? Good luck, and please post your results if you try it too. My feelings will not be hurt if it works better for you!
  6. thanks for the responses!! I am waiting to see what happens to the 550 prices with the 660 coming. I like the 550 features better. plan on buying before spring.
  7. If you like the sound and feel when you ride it, BUY it! That is a fantastic price with that list of extras.
  8. What is the weather that you get on the Zumo? Is it the radar overlay map? I am planning on getting a Zumo, but would like to get the radar weather map, like my buddie gets on his phone. I don't want to pay for it on the phone, and buy a new phone, but if it would display on the Zumo, it would be worth the money. (Not to highjack the thread) but, does the Mic- mute interfere with Zumo in any way?
  9. What's up with this?????:bang head: Been trying to loose weight for 2 days now and I'm still FAT??? Hum---I must be older than the last time I tried. (Don't EVEN talk to me about EXCERSIZE)
  10. I have the Avon MT90 (130) on the front. I like the handling much better than the stock size. I also had leveling links on it when I changed front tires. Rode it with both for 2000 miles, and liked it, except it felt a little light in the wind at speed. It blew from side to side more than I liked. I put the original links back on, and it still handles the same, but no more wind blowing me around. So, IMHO the smaller front tire helps handleing more than the leveling links. Doing both is okay (It never felt unsafe), but a little loose. The best answer for me is standard links and smaller front tire.
  11. Good Idea Squidley and Daren!!!!:clap2: I should say more, but sign me up for 25Lbs. Maybe this will motivate me????
  12. I am very interested in the netbooks, also. I don't know which would be best, but it looks like they would fit in the bags better than my 15" widescreen. I am interested to hear from anyone that has one. What do you think????
  13. I have the HJC symax 2 modular helmet with a flip down tinted inner visor like that. Kinda like the fighter pilot helmets have. It works VERY well. It is like retractable sunglasses. and when they are retracted they are protected from scratches, unlike my sunglasses that go in my pocket or trunk. Great for early evening rides when the sun goes away. just retracted the visor with one button push. I don't know if that helps, but that is my experience. Unfortunately the HJC helmet is about $270. If this helmet is anywhere near as nice as my HJC it is a steal at that price. I forgot to mention that the inner visor is far enough away from the outer that it never fogs up. Not even an issue with the Symax 2.
  14. I replaced my tail light with the one from custom dynamics, and it is VERY bright and went in very easily. perfect fit! I also replaced all 4 turn signals with led's. They do blink faster, and I like it. I feel that they are more noticeable. I did not use a load resister, even though they told me I needed one when I ordered. The led's are much brighter than stock, and be sure to get the ones that blink from off to on, instead of bright to dim like stock does. Again, it makes them more noticeable. Custom Dynamics was very good to work with, and shipped quickly.
  15. Nice job! I also am not a fan of yellow, but I am impressed at how good it looks. It truely is unique now!! Don't let Yamaha see it, or they will steal your colors.
  16. Rick Butler does it. Here is a link to his add in the clasifieds. In the add he has links to other people's response to having it done. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1023/cat/7/date/1157932426 I am kinda thinking about doing it.
  17. Thanks for the info. I'm glad you like your new bike. The florida trip sounds like it was fun!
  18. When are you going to do it? I can fly to DFW standby, and would LOVE to watch you work, or help. It is difficult for me to get away in Nov or Dec, but I would sure try! Even if I don't make it, I always enjoy reading your posts, and learning from them. Lots of pictures always helps me learn. Maybe another southern maintenace day? Or a southern learn about carbs day? Go for it Brother-- this sounds better the more I talk about it:thumbsup2:
  19. I like it!! It made me laugh, and smile. Thanks!!
  20. I just changed the clutch spring to the pwc racing heavy duty spring. I bought the kit for 85.00 and did the whole job in an hour. It does not slip anymore. same old plates. The kit did come with the upgrade of the halfplate. I put it in, but I don't think it was necessary. there is an excellent post here on how to do it, with pictures.
  21. Contact BuddyRich (pm or e-mail) about the travelling valve kit and tool.
  22. I have the xl, but want to go shorter to the large.
  23. I got my clearview xl with vent this year. (about 2500 miles ago) I love the vent, and the lever works good so far. the vent does require more cleaning, but I think it is worth it. The xl shield is about 3 inches to tall for my likeing. Now I know I should have gotten a Lg. Too much money to buy another one though, this will do.
  24. Yep, that would do it. I think the smithsonian like dusty things. If only I could remember where I put them?? They'll probably put in an I-pod dock. I don't have one of those but at least the dock doesn't take allot of space. Call me crazy--I still like FM radio. I hear the local news and local commercials, mixed in with the music.
  25. I installed the PCW Heavy Duty clutch spring kit. It went in very easily, thanks to good tech articles with great pictures and the info that came with the kit. (And great pointers from V7Goose at Don's MX day - thanks Kent!) It completely fixed my slipping clutch!! Yahoo!!! I put the gasket in dry, after cleaning the parts carefully and completely. No leaks. I did replace the half plate with the full plate one in the kit. I don't know if I would of had to, but I did while I had it open, and it worked - and that's what really counts.
