  1. I plan on going!! I will be watching for what day, and try to meet up with as many of you as possible. Last year was fun!
  2. I also use AVGfree antivirus. it is free and works very well. all the computer magazines rate it as the best! It is free- but you have to look closely at the website to download the FREE version. They sell their upgrade version but the FREE version IS free and it will remove viruses and trojans. everybody should use this program!!! It is better than most others.
  3. Thanks to Freebird and all of the Moderators!!! I like this site, and this site has helped me to love my VR and RSV even more!! Thanks also to all of the members that are willing to help, and to share their experiences. It is so much less painful to read about things than to have to make mistakes and learn it the hard way. I am not politically correct very often, and when I am I apologize. Unfortunately political correctness has become a manipulative tool in our society and is missused by many for their own gain. I am, however, concerned for others and do not want to hurt anyone. I will continue to come here to read, learn, laugh, and help when I can!!
  4. I got mine from big bike parts. It was in the backroom section of the old website for somewhere around 50$.
  5. Dan, I looked in all my reciepts and I must have given the reciept and part # to Steve when he bought my 89'. His VR name is Steve, and his phone # is in the members section. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you called to get the part #. It should be in all of the paperwork that I gave him. (I never throw anything away?) Good luck, I really liked the lights when I put them on, they are an essential safety upgrade in my oppinion.
  6. I wired mine to the accessory wire at the fuse block, with an inline fuse, so they would only work when the ignition was on. Then from there I added a switch for only the new lights on the right panel. Then a relay inside the right panel, and down to the lights on Squidley brackets. I liked haveing total control of the lights. they only came on when I wanted them on, and went off with the key in case I forgot. The charging system seemed to handle them okay.
  7. Sounds like you need to reconsider? You just got it up to your standards. A new one will cost much and be much work to get to the same place. It's a machine--they need fixed from time to time-- even when they are new. Then you have to fight the dealer for warranty work. How about keeping it and buying her her own? I sometimes regret selling my 89'VR to buy my 99' RSV. They are both fantastic bikes, I love the new one, but miss the old one. just my oppinion-- just remember-- these old bikes are irreplaceable, and each one is uneque. (even "special" if you like it)
  8. Whiskey, I put the platinum burners on my 89' before I sold it. I was very happy with them! The price is fantastic and they were good lights. I replaced the 55w bulbs with 35w, but had to order them online. ( I could not find them anywhere locally) I would buy them again if needed. Good value.
  9. I have found the best prices at www.flatoutmotorcycles.com for several past purchases. I have been pleased with the products and prices.
  10. okay, i'll try to behave!!! However I thought it was PMMS. Parked Motorcycle Maintenance Season. My credit card is already smokin from byin parts! Good Post Squid!! I appreciate it!
  11. my 99' has Kury handlebar grips with NO weights, and the mirrors are very stable. I also have the longer mirror arms. Good luck, you will find the cause with all of the help around here!!
  12. WOW, Chuck, that is a very nice VR!!!! Even has Avons on it! Hope you enjoy it!
  13. If you were in the chicago area you could come over and ride mine! Do we have a member in NJ that could help this guy out? There are a bunch of nice used ones in the classified section, and they have a full 5 year warranty that would still be in effect. Not much difference between the 99' through 08' except color, and pillow top seats. Good Luck, be patient, there is a good one out there for ya!!
  14. I ordered the Model BCL today! I hope it fits okay? Looks like a good- space saving cover.
  15. Nolan, We have to ride soon! we live so close but have such a hard time with schedules? Maybe we could get together with BMW and Steve(bought my VR) and do a carbtune day! As you read- I got a carbtune, so anytime you need yours done- bring it on over!! I spent a good chunk of time today splitting my fairing for the first time. It went very well-- just like the guys on here said! Go figure?? They really do know what they're talkin about. Replaced a bad driving light switch and added an AUX splitter for my MP3 player. both work good!! Thanks Squidley for the tech post!! The bike is running so nice now. I still haven't gotten a fuel mileage reading yet, but am hopeful.. Still need to do the "Eck Mod" on the fuel filter and relocate the pass. plug in for my wife. (anyone know where to get a 1 foot extension?) It's getting close to where I want it. I'm glad I didn't buy a new RSV-- I would still be doing Mods.
  16. Eck, where did you get your new filter and do you remeber the I.D. of the hose? I have seen several kinds online and at the parts store. I would rather buy it before I start working to avoid some of the late night trips to the parts store, if you know what I mean. I invariably need a part about 10 minutes after the stores close!! I now RESPECTFULLY call this the Eck mod! Nice work!!
  17. Call me when you get back. We can synch yours up too. It doesn't take very long- then I guess we'll have to take a ride!! Maybe we can go out to visit Steve?
  18. The bike had the K&Ns installed already when I bought it. I have not opened them up yet, but now I will and check. Thanks for the tip!!!
  19. I installed my spacer, and it fits perfectly! Thanks Bill!!! I cut a couple of pieces of fuel hose and slid them over the mounting screws on the deflector to stabilize it. It works very well and is easy and cheap. It also looks like it was made that way!!
  20. I have 2 that I took off of my 89' E-mail me and I will send you one. wkboard@juno.com
  21. After many hours of work-- the bike is running GREAT!! I have done many things to it, but the main culprit was a wire that fell off of the coil for the #2 cylinder. It actually was doing pretty well for a 3 cylinder. I purchased a carbtune and it was very unbalanced from right to left. (yes, I did re-synch it after I fixed the coil wire,) It has good power- and runs smooth now. I haven't checked yet, but the mileage HAS to be better. By the way-- those coils are really buried in there- even with the tank off! Life is good- now I need to ride! Thanks to everyone for the excellent advice! Here's what the carbtune looked like before I adjusted it. Way, way off. It's better now!
  22. Nicely written letter!! I hope you get some results. Alan..
  23. I am having the exact same problem on my 99' as Christo described. Anyone know how to fix it? I'd hate to spend hours troubleshooting if someone has already experienced it! Alan..
  24. Maybe there is an RSV owner in Ga near the bike that would look it over for you? This is a BIG family and most of us are willing to help. I would if it was in the Chicago area. Good luck, Alan..
  25. Thank you all!! those are great tips. Now I have some work to do. Anyone with a carbtune they would trade for a 6cd player? Probably should start a new post for that one, whatever?? Alan..
