DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE! Hey Tom, you really know how to hurt a guy. Our snow is pretty much gone but they're calling for more tonight. Still hoping to get all the ducks in a row so that we might be able to make a shuttle launch in early March. Crossing my fingers.

I've probably used up 5 or 6 sets of the D404 WWWs and just bought another set. Usually change them both at the same time and I get about 12000 to 14000 miles on a set. I did use one set of Avon WWWs but in my opinion they're not worth the extra $$$ and I wasn't overly impressed with the smaller front tire.

Well if Don will allow me and my co-pilot to park the space shuttle in the same spot I could provide a nice shady spot for doing carb syncs and other jobs that don't require a lift. Those of us that know how to do carb syncs could take turns showing others how to do it so that one person isn't tied up all day.

Definitely too much loaded weight on the back side of the axle. Like others say not enough tongue weight. This is the voice of experience. Pulling a trailer with too much weight on the back end will cause a very dangerous fishtail problem.

Don, With that pond and large lot of yours you may want to consider the ground source heat pump (water furnace). It's not too cheap to install but very efficient. I've been quite happy with my system since about 1990. I had to put wells down to circulate the water due to only having a 1/2 acre lot but with yours, you could trench in the tubing and even incorporate the pond I think. The system extracts heat from the circulating water which is always at a constant temp. (around 55* I think). A regular heat pump extracts heat from the outside air and starts to get inefficient as the temp. drops and then a backup system kicks in. My backup system (electric elements) hardly ever comes on unless it gets down in the single digits or below and the wind blows hard.

Here's the quick and easy way. You can do it without hose or throttle cable extensions but watch out for the throttle cables. They can stick on you on a full turn. http://www.zianet.com/genmar/ I prefer the "G2" pull back bars but it's much more expensive and the throttle cables do need to be changed out. All machines make noise. Even the Gold Wing makes mechanical noise. They sound like sewing machines. What may be objectionable to me may not be to you. My '03 had the whine. Tried the "I" basket and all it did was change the RPM level where the whine started. I learned to live with it. My '06 also has the whine but it's almost undetectable. I have to really listen for it and therefore doesn't bother me at all. Best advise is to drive the bike before you buy it if you're worried about it. -
Yes, but the point is adding that much weight to the back of these coaches, regardless of how it's attached will affect the handling. That's why the tongue weight is limited. Usually with a receiver type hitch with load equalizers you can double the tongue weight but not on mine. I'm sure you could beef up the frame in any number of ways but with all the overhang past the rear axle, the weight you add back there acts like a lever and lift the front of the unit which lightens the steering. I'm only talking front engine units here not diesel pushers. My RV is a Winnebago Adventurer model 38 J.

Smart Gene, I too like the idea but not on that gas powered RV. The weight of the lift and the bike has to be affecting the handling of that unit. Those lifts might work on a diesel pusher OK but not on a front engine unit with a rear frame extension. I wonder how the lawyers would handle an accident claim? My 40' Winne only has a 500 lb. tongue weight limit and no equalizer system allowed either.

Gene, I think you're right. The same as Chev and GMC. They are all made on the same line with a little different trim levels. That's why one costs more than the other. You have the right idea. You don't get an RV to save money. You get one because you like the life style and you like to sleep in your own bed and eat your own food. At least that's my thoughts on it. Be prepared if you buy a new one. The factory final inspector is the first time buyer. And it doesn't seem to matter which brand you want to talk about. Everyone will tell you that. Plan on quite a few trips back to the dealer in the first year to get all the bugs out. I have a Winnie, Adventurer, gas, on a Workhorse chassis and after finally getting all the bugs out, it's been great. Having said that, there's always some kind of work that needs doing. I don't know how anyone who doesn't do there own maintenance can afford to own one of these things. After the warranty is finished or even just regular routine stuff will kill you at the dealership. Anyway, good luck and have fun.

Rhonda, I told you he was a knucklehead. Sweet young thing like you there next to him and he takes a computer to bed???? He better smarten up pretty soon. I know you won't have any trouble replacing him. BTW how do you feel about older and wiser men?.....

Not too sure about the part number but on the set I got, there was a sleeve with the new throttle side grip. It's an easy bolt on replacement, unless you want to keep your bar end weights, then it get a little more complicated.

Hey Bill, If you can figure out a way to bottle up some of that ambition of yours and sell that, I'll be first in line. I've lost all my ambition for almost everything except riding the bike. I've sold most of my hot rod projects and I have a 1900 square foot shop sitting idle too. I still have a couple of projects left and I'm hoping to find the ambition to get out there and just "get-r-done". I seem to find it easier to sit back in the lazy-boy, and I do my best engineering while sawing logs.
