  1. I don't even use a torque wrench on the axle nut. I use a German torque wrench. Gudentite.
  2. I would probably fabricate a plate that mounts inside the trunk to run the bolts through before I would buy another trunk. They are very expensive as you are finding out.
  3. Who owns the aquarium themed Tour Deluxe and rode Highway 129 recently?
  4. You didn't. I just tossed that out there for general information.
  5. Since the one that came out had caps on it and you could see the levels, then no, it was not an AGM battery. AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. It's a fiberglass "mat" that holds the electrolyte and it's not vented.
  6. depends on what the trailer is being used for. are you talking about a trailer to pull behind the bike or a trailer to put the bike on?
  7. The cheapest way out and staying with quiet mufflers will most likely be converting to the Harley mufflers. I bet most dealers will have a set laying around you can pick up for cheep, and then construct the brackets yourself or buy a set off the forum.
  8. The factory seat was not very good for my pillion, but the Mustang seat was great. Even better when I added a sheepskin cover for the longer rides.
  9. My bike does the same thing. Actually, it kind of jumps forward if I try and start in 1st gear. But every motorcycle I have owned does this.
  10. Where do the Showa forks and Mikuni carbs come from? How about the Bosch fuel injection?
  11. If you have a digital multimeter, check battery voltage with the bike off, then check it with the bike running. You can also check the rectifier by switching the multimeter to read A/C volts to see if there is any A/C voltage in the system. I did this on trucks sometimes when they complained that the truck would go dead but the alt tested OK voltage wise and I would find A/C voltage coming out of the alternator as well as D/C voltage.
  12. I had an '03 and put 40,000 miles on it. Oil changes were a pain, 2 drain plugs and 1 is right next to the frame rail. Refilling the oil wasn't that bad, add 1/2 of it, start it for 10 seconds and then add the other half. Roadstars uses an oil tank like a Harley. You have to drain the "sump" in the engine and the oil tank. The machine has incredible low end torque. It pulls hard.
  13. Cruise won't go above 85.
  14. I thought it was funny.
  15. Have you tried to let it get any lower? The engine just may not like that much oil in it. I would let it go down and see if it gets any lower.
  16. Are you using an actual "Battery Tender" brand charger, or another brand? Im wondering if maybe the charger isn't trickling once the battery is fully charged and it's boiling or sulfating the battery? If you don't fix it today, put the batter back on the tender and check the voltage while it's charging, then in 8 hours or later, recheck the voltage and post up the results.
  17. http://www.drillspot.com/products/447448/Loctite_28654_Stripped_Thread_Repair_Kit Makes permanent repairs on most metal threads in 5 minutes; allows up to 1538 in.-lbs. torque on a 1" bolt. Resists most shop fluids. California Proposition 65 Warning: This product contains a product known to the State of California to cause cancer. It causes cancer so you know it's gotta be good.
  18. I carry a Ruger LCP in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.
  19. Are you trying to push in neutral or with the clutch pulled in?
  20. The Texas panhandle is always in need of pipe welders and now with wind generator assembly. But the riding sucks.
  21. Darkside.....
  22. Go until you hear banjos, then back up 2 miles.
  23. 24. Ride On is water soluble. It's very possible that some of the water evaporated and it stuck to the wheel. 5 years is a long time for a motorcycle tire to stay on. I would say this was the exception and not the rule in this case.
  25. There's always going to be a parasitic draw for the clock and radio settings. Go to Harbor Freight and get one their cheap test meters. You can put it inline with the negative cable and do a true amperage test with it up to 10 amps. Then pull the fuses and see which circuit is giving you the most drop and that will most likely be your culprit. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=90899 I have one of these meters in addition to my Fluke. A fuse for the Fluke is $16, a harbor freight DVOM is $3. I use the harbor freight when I'm not certain about the amperage draw of a circuit.
