  2. Just wondering how you guys doing? is it anybody there jet.......what about now......what about now.....
  3. Was at the local dealer yesterday to ask about checking the floats in my carbs and they didn,t seem interested to even look. Ok fine I,ll just drive it althought it seems alittle rich. Anyway as I was leaving I noticed a guy outside on the parking ramp pulling wrenches so went over to look. He,s got his bike tools on the ground and says he is taking his rear tire off. I say can,t the guys in the shop help and he says they said they are to busy. Isay you know you need a lift and alot more tools than that and he says I got no choice look at my tire, I do and the chords are showing:doh:. Then he says he made an appointment a week ago and now they are to busy. I see he has a RSTD and think that is the same as my Venture so to heck with these guys we,re taking this bike to my garage and doing this thing. So we load his parts in my truck and head for the garage. One hour later we are back to the dealer for a new tire and rear bake pads and heading back to the garage to put it all back together. One more hour and the drive shaft is greased with moly 60, the brakes are cleaned and installed and the tire is back on and properly torqued. Now just so everyone knows the info to do all this came from this site and all the guys who gave step by step instructions (and pictures:cool10:) should pat themselves on the back because without them this would not have happened. Dave said ( I think his name was Dave) thanks when he left so I thought I should pass the thanks on to you guys on this site for your effort to put the info on here without which we would still be sitting there cursing the dealer. Ride safe.

  5. Hey BommerCPO The U.S. Navy is in town!!!! Party time in Fremantle :dancefool: The USS George Washington is out in Gage Roads, and she's a Big 'Un Her escort is the USS Cowpen. I've never seen such a humungous ship !! Do you know that my first ever pen-pals in my teen years were two U.S. navy guys. Took them home and mum fed them well, and they enjoyed "home hospitality" for a while. Still have their letters stored somewhere, and a deck of cards we used to use( is in the cupboard.) One of them(Jim Leahy) even came back for a visit when he got out of the Navy! Back then the officers and sailors used to enjoy going to a family home for a few days, instead of night clubs, getting drunk and you know- what- else. Whenever a ship was in town, the Aussie navy would do an announcment on the radio, for people to attend the dance get-together in Fremantle to meet the U.S. guys. I've even had lunch in the mess with everyone, and got lost going to the head !!
  6. Does anyone know of someplace I can get the vent that goes on the right side cover? I can find a left side on Ebay (which I already have one), But my right leg is getting a bit toasty now that summer is here. Thanks Guys.
  7. 31 Inch lake Trout Yes. I still kicking around Yes I miss You Guys
  8. This was my 1st MD as well and I had an absolutely great time. I rode down and back with a great bunch of people, and met a great bunch of people once I got there, Many of whom I had often chatted with on chat such as yama moma ( who for some reason I thought was blonde (no pun intended)and wasn't but was definitly a warm and friendly person.Minimuffin ( who I some how thought would be taller ) An obviously fun loving person full of mischief. Lonna whos infamous cheese cakes I finally got to sample (hope I didn't cut into your action to severly Big Tom:innocent-emoticon: ) Squidly Who I found out actually only has 2 tennn ahh I mean arms' who should hire himself out as a professional MC Great job Squidly,Of course Bongobobny was there handing out spare parts a man with not just a golden bike but a heart of gold as well ,And A real big hand :dancefool:to all the guy's working on others bikes ((a special thanks to Carl (aka Marcarl) who helped me out with some of my issues)) they were all just an awsome bunch of guys. Last but not least an Extra Special thanks to Don and Eileen for all thier hospitality and efforts. It was agreat honour to finally after all these years meet you both (And Don somehow I thought you would be shorter but you are actually one tall drink of water, OOPS did I say WATER:rotfl:) ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR EVERYTHING DON AND EILEEN:thumbsup2:
  9. I finally got to see the Beercart up close and personal at MD. Geez, that thing is huge! It was sitting there opened and my buddy and I were looking at it. We had just discoverd that the lid was electrically operated and the thing started closing. Then I looked over and Beer30 was sitting there watching us and smiling. Beer, that's a great looking trailer you got yourself. If I had one that size my wife just might be able to fit all her stuff in it. As it is she takes up all the room in my Neosho and I get a little space on top of the trailer for my clean underwear. Just doesn't seem fair to me. This was the first MD I have been to and you guys are the best. V7 did my carbes for me and I am most appreciative. I got to meet Beer30, Squidley and many other people who came up and said hi. I can't wait until the next MD! God bless and ride safe.
  10. Hey Guys I need opinions, my coffee cup holder from my 1st gen doesnt work right on my 2nd gen so i am looking for suggestions to what you guys use and like i really hate to spend 80 bucks on a coffee cup but i drive 65 miles to and from work everyday and i am dying without my java HELPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Have to thank a lot of you for this little gem! My bloke, Alan, likes a drop of whisky as his favourite tipple,or a good red wine. So-o-o I came up with this idea (prompted by you guys) :thumbsup2: and told him "you drink--I buy safety chrome!!" :rotf::rotf::rotf: Think I'm gonna have lots'
  12. Yesterday morning 6/2 I was going to Columbia, MO to be with my dad for surgery. At about 8:45AM I met a red/blk (08?) Venture heading south on 63 out of Columbia. Was it one of you guys? Thats a 4 lane so I didn't see what plate was on the bike. I rarely see other RSV's around here.
  13. I am Syncing my carbs on my 85 Venture Royale. Got 1&2 dialed in and 3&4. Now according to the link here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=495 It says to then sync 2&4 on the first Gen which is what mine is. Now the problem is that #2 is pulling way more vacuume than 4 and I cannot even get it close. Anyone else ever had this and if so, what do I need to look at. Thanks Guys.
  14. When it's hot out I ride with fingerless gloves. After a day of riding my fingers have been stained black from the handgrips. What's the solution to this? Is there something I can use to clean the grips to help prevent this from happening? I figured you guys would know something about problem and have some good advice for me. Changing grips is not a solution. I had the Kuryakyn grips on my Valkyrie and got tired of them. Thanks
  15. to all of you good people. my "give a damn is busted"! i come here and read all of the threads, everyday, but i just don't seem to have anything to contribute. to all of you guys who sent p.m.s, i want you all to know, that i do appreciate them, just can't seem to get back in the loop , for whatever reason. just jt
  16. OK....not free but almost I have well over $5,000 worth of accessories on this bike so you pay $4,950 and get the rest of the bike FREE Sorry, I know that was a cheap way to "MAKE YOU LOOK" If you know anyone interested please let them know about this bike. It is also in the classifieds. Thanks guys and gals. I am planning a road trip with my new 06' Venture, heading to Savannah for Memorial Day weekend. Can't wait! Dennis
  17. there is one thing I have always hated about Yamaha street bikes. That stupid sight glass for checking oil levels. It's ridiculous that it takes 2 people to check the oil. Is there a trick to it that you guys could share with me. How do you guys check your oil level. My wife is not the kind of person that pays attention to details so I don't like holding the bike up for her to tell me the level. She doesn't understand the importance of it being at the right level......HELP :bang head::bang head::bang head:
  18. I had posted this under the Meet & eat thread but only Ceedo read it. So here it is a gain. We had a great time at the 1st PA Meet & Eat and what a fantastic turn out. It was really good to meet everyone. A special thanks goes out on behalf of my wife and myself to the the VA/NC and SC guys. I got a front flat at 65 mph a little past the exit for route 15 south at Frederick MD, and man that was scarey! The Muffinman had a portable pump with him and they got the tire pumped up enough so I could hobble to the Sheetz in Leesburg Va. Got a can of tire fixit and pumped it back the rest of the way. Seems I had a slow valvestem leak and the tire just blew. They all made sure we made it home safely. THANKS AGAIN guys for all your help! The Muffinman said the nicest thing out on the side of the road, "We never leave anyone behind" What a great bunch of folks. Kim & Karen Woodworth
  19. I have 9500 miles on the bike and the tires look really good. I've shown it to a couple of other guys and they think they have a lot of miles left on them. I keep wondering when I should change them out. Don't want to have one blow out on me while riding down the road. Yea, they are the Dunlop 404's. Think I might go ahead and replace the rear just because. A few guys have said that when they get close, they wear out alot faster than you think so keep an eye on them.
  20. Hey hey,Mark Martin wins the Nascar race at Phoenix tonite.. Not bad for a 50 year old... Old guys rock...
  21. Well, time has come to install all those great rebuilt parts I spent all winter on. Sooo, as requested, Spanky and Big TRom came over to help out. Tom had to pick up his bike from Pioneer Motorsports anyway, which is just around the corner, so over they came. Here's pictures of the afternoon: 1. Here they are eager to start 2. Big Tom has to properly prepare to do some serious work 3. Spanky is wondering "What the heck are we doing anyway?!!?" 4. Big Tom has a better way to work on stuff 5. Big Tom says "You want me to shove this thing where??" 6. Where the H3LL does this part go?? 7. Their work being done, they leave me with a few lose ends to tie up. 8. Uhhh, guys, there's a few things missing here, guys, where's my drill?
  22. Greetings from Down Under, where it's Easter already. It's 11:15am Good Friday, and I've just had a sleep in. Got up and had a rumble with my new baby grand-son who is visiting for a few days, had a BBQ breakfast and am now going to veg out for the rest of the day. Just wanted to get in early (well, early for you guys on the other side of the international date line) to wish you all the best. If you're riding over the Easter break, do it safely. Catcha all later.
  23. I just got mine for $80.00 shipped brand new. the British pound is falling and the dollar is not falling so badly. I got a new one shipped for what most guys are asking for their used ones.
  24. hey guys, ben a loooong time since ive been on here.....lots happened since i last logged in....old job went away, decided to take the plunge and do my own thing, 1-1/2 years later, im so freakin busy fixing other peoples bikes i hardly have time to ride mine!!!!!..oh well, cant complain too bad, and it gives me more time with my family, so it's a good trade:thumbsup2: anyway.....ran into a lil prob w/ "ol' blue".....started last fall right before winter, but its really prominent now.....seems like when the motor fully gets up to temp, i loose 2 cylinders, and i'm thinking either pick-up coil, or cdi, because when it does its thing, tach drops to zero, but it still idles really lumpy, but as soon as you give it barely any throttle at all, everything comes back.....only happens below 12-1300 rpm....i know i can fix this, but i am swamped!!!!!, so if anyone has run into this before, gimmie a heads up on it so i dont have to spend 2 days with a meter chasing this little bug:headache: just to let ya know.....87 v/r, 46k on the clock....new plug wires/caps/plugs last fall....good carb synch....i am positive this is electrical, and not fuel related, so.....lemme know what you guys think, ok?? thanks,....joe
