  1. Do you have documentation from the repair shop that the damage was caused by bad gas? If so, I am thinking a lawyer could get it settled for you fairly quickly.
  2. The same bolt holds the battery covers on. You can take one off either one of the side covers and use in on the shifter.
  3. I look at any tire I ride. I have had Avon replaced due to cracking, I have also had a Dunlop replaced due to cracking. I still run Avons.
  4. That will probably be my next bike. Hearing a lot of good things about the wings. Plus, if you ever need to trike it you already have the reverse and the extra horses to take care of the added weight of the trike kit. I am happy for ya'.
  5. Guess this explains why forrest fires put themselves out. All that fire makes a train load of water.
  6. I have a blue flame ventless heater in my garage/shop and it works very well. It does not have a fan, but I have a ceiling fan in the shop which I run on low in the winter. I am not understanding the posts which say the heater adds humidity. How does a gas heater add humidity to the air? My heater just heats the air that is already present in the shop, all natural ingredients and no additives.
  7. How do you make the call on who is able to advertise and who is not?
  8. You can order them from this website and have them drop shipped to an installer who is listed with them. The shipping is free, just have to check the installers in your area for installation prices. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/
  9. Well Goose, Does he mean this group or the one he rides with? What makes you so sure he is refering to this club? Read the 1st & 2nd paragraph. I took it to mean the club he actually rides with.
  10. Gotta' tell you Tom, Wal-Mart drivers have the best reputation on the road. At least with the folks I know.
  11. Could you "flamers" show me exactly where he wants to impose the no drinking rule on this organization? He mentioned a group he rides with and asked if anyone belonged to a club that had no drinking policy. I am not finding where he mentioned this group. And you wonder why there are so many lurkers who don't ask questions or participate in disussions. So much for the "largest and friendliest Venture and Royal Star site on the internet" crapola.
  12. If you were looking at a wing with a voyager kit on it, that is not really a trike. I have no experience with either, but the voyager is a bolt on set of wheels maybe more like training wheels. I am told there is a big difference in the handling in a bike that has been "triked" and a bike with a voyager kit on it. However, thanks for the input. I am thinking there will be a point in time that I will have to either go for a trike or quit riding. Looks like there will be a trike around here when that time comes.
  13. Better get conformation on it being warranty work. The ethanol in gas will gum the carbs and Yamaha does not cover that under warranty. If you wait until the work is done and then try to get warranty, you may be left holding the bag especially if they do a complete rebuild on the carbs.
  14. Either travel trailer or sports car for trips. I have a lot of interests along with the bike. Gotta' stay active year round.
  15. We have only missed the rally 2 times in the last 11 years, this year is one of them. We will be there next year.
  16. Might check with one of those places that advertise paintless dent repair. I have seen hail damage repaired that way and the results were very good. Sounds like your health is getting better, next time you are at the doctor you might have see if they have anything for cranial rectitus. Just sayin.
  17. If getting all the old oil out was a priority and you don't want to use a flush and leave some of that in the engine, why not just pour a quart of oil in while the plug is out and after that drains put the plug back and fill with oil? Would that "flush" any residual oil in the pan and leave clean oil in its place? Just askin'.
  18. That is wierd about the beer, almost like it came out of the same "bad" batch. A buddy and I are headed out on a roadtrip to New Mexico & Colorado in the morning. I will let you know if the beer is any better in that part of the world. Even if the beer isn't any better, I am thinking the weather is better.
  19. I would like to have the Ultra Classic. I like the Harley's.
  20. Attitudes are attitudes. No bike has a corner on that market. Just read the posts on this site. Why not just live and let live?
  21. You are right, guess they could buy and maintain a compressor and raise the price of their gas to cover the cost of the new equipment. Then, everyone would go where the gas was cheaper and only drop by to get the free air. Free cigars and nickel beer went away a long time ago. My Dad told me one time that he could remember when he could buy the best cut of steak in the butcher shop for $.10 a pound. He also said that if would have had a dime he would have bought one of those steaks.
  22. I have gotten anywhere from 30 mpg to 42 mpg, depending on where I was riding. I think the floats are set too high in the carbs, but I don't have the skill sets to fix that. I have a carbtune and try to keep the carbs in sync. I plan to buy a colortune and learn to use that. Maybe, one of these days I will make a maiintenance day where they are setting floats and watch that done and decide if I want to attempt it. However, on the road I don't really worry about mileage on the bike. I just enjoy the ride.
  23. We have guys on here that know what Yamaha is going to do every year.
  24. Some motorcycle company even tried to patten the sound of their bike. Trying to think who that was.
