  1. Well, glad that went ok for ya but in my mind's eye, it would seem like a lot of extra work compared to cutting it off the top. I didn't even remove the w/s when I did mine. I've had a few people comment that it looks "factory". Having said that tho, I guess in some cases, cutting it from the bottom is the only option.
  2. awritey then... go for it! But... we want to know how the "experiment" went for ya.
  3. I cut my stock shield down and so have several others ... I didn't have any coating lift off nor have I heard of this before (that's not to say it hasn't happened).
  4. To be quite honest, I doubt very much that your idea would work. As for cutting it at the top, it's really a "piece of cake" and can be done in very little time. Why go and make a bunch of extra work for yourself. If you think you will have problems cutting it down from the top, IMHO you're gonna be in for a big surprise trying to do it from the bottom!
  5. Good writeup!! Just a thing or 2 to add... Clean the pins before you replace them, they may require a bit of "buffing up" with either emery paper or a buffing wheel on your drill. Clean the "spring thingy" before you replace it. Coat the pins with brake lubricant before you replace them Coat the back side of the pads and the outer edges where they will rub against the caliper and other stationary metal parts with brake lubricant.
  6. Table saws scare the H%$@ out of me so I am super careful when using one. I always (well, almost always) use a wooden push stick to assist in feeding the wood. Years ago tho (seems a common phrase around here LOL), when I had my autobody shop, I was using a high speed grinder to grind off some rust, etc on the inside lip of a wheelwell. Stupid me... I was doing it in the wrong direction and the grinder wheel (#24 grit sander actually) caught the sharp inside edge of the wheelwell and spun back across my fingers and back of my hand. oooooo boy did that ever make a mess but lucky I didn't sever anything!
  7. The truth of the matter is, is that our "demeanour" is really "self-generated". It's really "our issue" and when we come to realize that, we need to "own" it, deal with it, and get over ourselves. Life is much easier when we're happy.
  8. Get ahold of panjandrum here on the site as he got an LED kit that adds brake & running lights to his rear signal lights. I installed them for him ... wasn't too difficult of a job but you have to disassemble the mounting hardware to run the wires.
  9. Whatever he responds to this is untrue ... it's actually coz he comes up to Vancouver, BC and hassles me. The Beaver part is the Canuck thing and the Lil part is coz his feet are so small ....
  10. Gary, I'm not so sure you have sufficient arrows in that writeup...
  11. I forgot... what bike is it?
  12. Seems there's been a lotta talk about loosing yer nuts on this site... I just wanna know... how long do yer nuts stay on before they fall off??
  13. I think the idea of the oblong holes is that, as you are dropping the seat down, the bolts are a) not exactly perpindicular and b) the rear catch is still not fully seated so will still slide a bit further backwards. When you cinch the nuts tight, how does the seat slide or move in the oblong hole? (that's not asking for input ... it's more of a wonderment)
  14. Great idea but I find it odd that some folks have such a problem with these. 10mm socket on a small rachet and they're off in about a minute (or 2).
  15. I thought your HST was the same as ours (except maybe the rate) ... Instead of GST and PST, it's just HST. We used to pay 7% PST and 5% GST but now it's just 12% HST. Hard to believe you'd be paying GST on something and then HST on top of that.
  16. There is no GST AND HST ... it's either provincial sales tax plus GST -OR- HST. HST stands for "Harmonized Sales Tax" which simply means the PST (Provincial Sales Tax) and GST (Goods and Services Tax) are rolled into one name... HST
  17. Things are falling off??? ummmmm I didn't realize you rode a Ha......ey !!
  18. A ?? ... how old is this computer? The boot drive is defined in the bios and not as A or B or C, etc but rather as Floppy or CDROM or Hard Drive. Generally if you have all 3 it will search for a boot loader on whatever device is the first boot ... and if it doesn't find it there, it will go to the second, then third device as defined in the bios. Having said that, some older computers may have been different.... I've forgotten as it's been a while since I've worked with older equipment. Oh yeah... and I am suffereing from C.R.S. as well. EDIT: oooopsie ... my BAD.. I just looked at my system's bios and it does have A and B (nothing there tho). I guess I never look at that anymore coz I haven't seen a floppy drive in a computer for at least 6 years LOL ... least not the ones I've been working with.
  19. ... and, if he did have a good IT department, the Admin account would have been passworded as well as the BIOS
  20. Can't really give you an answer but it is one I've wondered about also.
  21. What passwords have you tried? As mentioned, the default account is Administrator and oftentimes has no password... try that.
  22. OK, somethings wrong here... according to that I should be doing Monkey tricks but all I'm doing is barking.... :confused24:
  23. In fact, TELUS is our major telephone, internet, and television provider.
  24. WOW ... and it still has the factory warning label on the tank!! (and I thought I did good when I got mine)
  25. That's the one I used and I had no cable issues although some others have.
