You're absolutely correct .... maybe I should be searching in the titles only as I do not want to read threads that are not necessarilly about "fuel filter" but may, somewhere deep down on page 18 has the two words together. Guess I was expecting it to not highlite the single words of "fuel" or "filter" soas to make it easier to scan the thread for only the posts containing the two words "fuel filter". Sorry, my BAD.

Thanks for the great info and pic Doug. No, I haven't done it yet but I did get a NAPA filter and some hose and carry it in the scoot as a "just in case". I pulled the stock filter a couple months back and tested it and it still seems fine so I'm not going to do anything until winter.

I dunno about that ... one thing I found when in Cody was going out riding in the evening after the sun went down was really nice, not to mention the early morning! Now, when it's cold (and I'm talkin freezing cold), ain't no way I'd be out riding any time of the day!

Need a poll for second gen rear shock
SilvrT replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When you create a new thread, scroll down and you will see where/how to create it as a poll. Go for it .... -
I've had a few occasions to iterate that to doubtful V-twin observers. Their eyebrows suddenly appear higher on their foreheads.

If you can convert your documents to a non-printable PDF format, that is the best way and is the one most often used.

... and using your credit card along the way, (or for that matter, any time you use your cc) ... monitor your statement closely. If you have on-line banking, do it daily. As some of you know, Nina & I travelled to Cody and return with 2 other riders. En-route, I arranged our motel reservations. Chekking my Visa account today, I found that the last place we stayed charged me twice (the others were to pay their own) So, I called them ... the first person I get says ... it was the reservations system ... they apply the amount to your card to hold the room and it will be deducted within 10 days. (B/S as far as I'm concerned). Anyhoo ... I tell her that a) they're using my money for which I will pay interest on, b) when they go about reversing it, will I be given the exact same US-CAD exchange rate, and c) this is a policy that is not acceptable to me and I want the funds refunded tout-suite! She tells me they don't have the capability to do that and I'd have to call Visa. (more B/S). I finally get a manager on the phone and after some digging, she discovers that the second charge was for the room one of our riding companions was in (the motel somehow screwed up). Thankfully, they did take his credit card so the manager is able to credit me and charge him (no names here but guys, check your credit card statement in case they bill you twice). Other than that, all other charges appear legit (so far )

Arrived home Sunday evening around 9:30PM from Cody, new (to us) Lees-ure Lite trailer in tow. Spent Monday just relaxin after 3 long riding days to get home. Thanks to all the organizers for a fantastic event!! Was great to see old friends and make new ones and to be able to put the "person" to the nickname. Was also a special ride to and from Cody with Sailor and Camos along with us. Thanks guys for your company and good times and thanks to Sailor for his patience with me and Camos during our many "butt" breaks LOL! Unfortunately I couldn't find a suitable place for any of the 3 cup holders on the scoot so they all went to someone else who could. pics to follow once I get them onto Photobucket sometime this week.

We're leaving tomorrow morning. According to the forecast, we'll be donning our rain gear Poured rain all last night ... temps barely reaching 18-20 degrees celcius but hey! ... according to the long range forecast, it's supposed to turn sunny and warm ... of course ... we'll not be here!

Conrad ... so glad you guys are gonna be ok. As for the insurance, out here in BC, it's always a good idea to consult with a lawyer first. Most times they'll take any fees out of the settlement. ... and don't sign anything that the insurance co sticks in front of you unless you're completely satisfied with what they are offering. Always keep in mind when dealing with a settlement that bodily injuries today may heal "on the surface" but can come back to haunt you later in life. I've learned the hard way that insurance co are not necessarilly there "for you" and they will do whatever it takes to protect their own interests.

'Nuther idea I came across is to strap a length of PVC pipe underneath for storing awning poles, etc .... although this trailer does have the undercarriage storage compartment.

No, we're picking it up from the seller in Spokane on the return trip. BTW, we won't be stopping overnight at Liberty lake ... have to hook up with the seller in Spokane enroute so will be staying there.

We just bought a used Lees-ure Lite tent trailer and are looking for unique and "neat" ideas for anything associated on our camping trips. We plan on using a blow-up mattress. It comes with a 110 volt rechargeable blower. One idea I was thinking is to get a spare m/c battery and a 12 volt charger/blower. Another neat idea I came across is for storage of "stuff" as in the following pics... Got any others?

Careful around the plastic with Loctite ... didn't I read somewhere that it will damage plastic??? EDIT: heh ... I got beat to the punch on this one LOL
-
WOW is right... but that doesn't look like a "conventional" motorcycle to me...
-
WOW ... never heard of that before. I've never understood why any bike mfg would utilize nothing more than plastic on a mounting point especially when there might be a lot of stress against it. One would think they'd reinforce those areas with metal or something. However, your post just reminded me of those "good old days" when we forgot to close the hood properly and it flew up and completely blinded yer vision of what's ahead LOL

Fairing disassembly
SilvrT replied to Mountaineer47's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
DITTO what he said. When you put the fairing back together, take note of the "alignment tabs" on the inside edge and ensure you get them in place before you attempt to put the screws back in. You can easilly determine this because the outer edge should be fairly snug against the inner fairing plastic, especially obvious at the top edge where it is rounded. Take a look at that before you remove it so you have something to go by. Here's a writeup... http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494&highlight=splitting+fairing -
Just did a count of "who's coming to Cody" ... currently showing 81 +/- Wonder if we'll get enuf late-comers to break the 100 mark! :thumbsup2: It's going to be an awesome time! I've taken the list home to memorize in hopes of remembering who is who ... don't hold me to that ... I have C.R.S. yanno! Ya'll keep the rubber side down 'n have a safe, enjoyable ride both 2 Cody and return home!

Worked on a friends bike now bike isrunning rich
SilvrT replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Yep... DITTO all of that for me ... especially the part of having a life, less stress, and much happier .... albeit it cost me appx 1/2 of what my income was to get out and work for someone else (no mention of a divorce and bankruptcy) ... but it's been worth it.
