I painted my gas cap flat black 3 summers ago and it looks the same today as when I painted it. NO MORE REFLECTION!! Simply clean it very good with laquer thinner, mask the underside (parts that go inside the tank), spray it with a good primer (black) and then coat it with a good flat black. You can use rattle cans for this. I suppose tho, that the cost of paint might exceed any price one might pay for a custom cover ... BUT ... you'll still have lots of paint left over for other things.

A snippet from an email from my wife in response to another member's post in answer to a recent Q I had.... From: Nina Yerex [mailto:nyerex@guinnessbusiness.com] Sent: Monday, August 08, 2011 3:09 PM To: 'Rick Yerex' Subject: RE: a post from one of the guys on the venturerider site How would we ever manage without the Venture site? These people are wonderful!!! It always feels like a big family looking out for each other; how great is that these days!! I might just renew my membership and check in once in a while J

Thanks for this info! We've towed it from Spokane, WA to Vancouver, BC Canada (unloaded) and found that if the road was really bumpy or had a lot of grouves in it as sometimes happens from large transport trucks, etc, it did tend to feel a little "jerky" but other than that, it towed very well. Had it up to 140km/h (86mph) on I-5 heading north from Seattle to Vancouver and it felt just fine at that speed.

WOW ... even more hunting and I found one locally on Craigslist, brand new, unopened ... for $70 hand delivered. Now that's a HOT deal if I ever heard of one!
-
heh ... a little more "hunting" and I found it thru Amazon for $71.95 with free shipping to my Blaine, WA drop point.

I ordered the following item from the trailer mfg. They recommend it and sell it for $50 cheaper than the Can Tire price! http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/VehicleRacksCarriers/RooftopCarriers/PRDOVR~0401130P/Thule+Quest+Cargo+Bag.jsp?locale=en

I got three (all the same) drink holders for free .... couldn't decide which one to put where so gave them all away. How do you get 3 for free you ask? Anyone who attended the Cody rally can tell you...

Dimensions are 54L x 39W x 19.5H I looked at the longer, narrower ones (more designed for skiis, etc) but the prices are considerably higher. This trailer has a factory installed storage box underneath for those things.

Another possibility... http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/VehicleRacksCarriers/RooftopCarriers/PRDOVR~0401125P/Thule+Luggage+Loft+15+XT.jsp?locale=en

I've recently bought a Lees-ure Lite tent trailer and although there appears to be sufficient room for storage of camping gear, etc, I was wondering if anyone has ideas or suggestions of methods to carry all or additional stuff on the top of the trailer? Link to the trailer http://www.leesurelite.com/tenttrailers.asp Here's an idea I had in mind.... to attach one of these to the top... http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/VehicleRacksCarriers/RooftopCarriers/PRD~0401064P/SportRack+18+cu.+Ft.+Enclosed+Car-top+Carrier.jsp?locale=en It would have to be attached in such a way as to easilly remove it and the idea would be to store the lighter and bulkier stuff in it such as clothing, sleeping bags, things a person might want to access easilly while on the road, and what-not. Thoughts, comments, suggestions .... all appreciated.

Handlebar Lever Reach - A Fix
SilvrT replied to Mickey's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Great idea ... I have small hands too but yours must be really small coz I have no problem with the stock levers. ... maybe I have longer fingers .... -
ya, I thought about that afterwards ... probably coz we were staying at different locations and Nina & I didn't go on most of the group rides. We'll make up for that next year in Nelson eh!

DITTO that !!! I used to run a Car/Truck rental operation and before renting one of our 5 ton moving vans, I made sure the renter knew how to handle one of these trucks and there were more than one occasion where I refused to allow the renter to operate the truck (they had to find someone else who could or not rent it). This was not only to protect us and our investment but to also protect the safety of the renter.

just an FYI ... my Lees-ure Lite Tent Trailer has 8 inch tires so it would seem they are ok for it, they should be ok for your HF. For what it's worth, I don't think it's the tire size that is as important as the bearings (size, capacity, etc)
-
The pressure you put in may also vary depending on how many plys in the tire. Are they 4 ply or 6 ply? I just bought a Lees-ure Lite tent trailer and the tire size (16.5 x 6.5 x 8) is a 6-ply tire (that's what they come with) and even though the max load rating is 615 lbs @ 45psi, the manufacturer recommends anywhere from 24-28 lbs for optimum performance.

Need a poll for second gen rear shock
SilvrT replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
and that's probably because most of the others are off doing other things at this time of day / year. More folks read and post in the evenings/weekends/winter time I suspect. Not everyone is in my situation whereby I can sit at work all day and play on this site LOL
