Only the second time I ever dumped a bike was when the sidestand on my '85 broke. Wasn't the bolt either, it was one of the "tangs" (if I can call them that). Had to buy a new sidestand (never heard of this site at the time).

hope it works for you. Ask to see the " I " stamp on the back of the basket before they install it. My dealer said they were putting an I basket in and I found out later it was a G basket. I made them correct their mistake.

Several years ago I visited Houston TX for a long weekend and spent some time in Galveston. This was at the end of July and the temps were over 100 with equal humidity so I figgure I did experience what you refer to. I remember I couldn't walk barefoot on the sand beach at Galveston (too hot) and I remember waiting up to 1/2 hour in lineups for the rollercoasters at 6 flags .... we spent time walking around Galveston a lot as well as driving back and forth to Baytown and other places with no a/c in the car. I dunno ... I really enjoyed that short little "exposure" to your weather ... but day after day after day for a couple weeks or more of it.... ya, could be a little tough to take.

I don't know about the "heat index"; however, I have lived in areas where the temps have hovered around 100 or more for a couple weeks. Frankly, extended periods of time in that does get a bit too much but we rarely get anywhere close to that around these parts and when it's cloudy, cool, and rainy day after day after day after day .... people tend to get pretty depressed ... this is what it's like around here most of the time from November thru June and spatterings of it now, in July. Lack of sunshine is not good. I am a "warm climate" person. I much prefer summers when the temps are anywhere between 25 and 35 (77 - 95 f) with lots of sunshine. Here on the West Coast we don't see a lot of that. I can't wait until I retire so I can move back to an area where that climate exists. Having said that, since I have been in this area for almost 10 years, there has been a couple summers that have been really nice. This area is so beautiful and enjoyable when the weather is nice.

It will be interesting to hear your comments on our climate after having been here for 6 month's or so....

ya, I guess a guy shouldn't WHINE so much about cool, wet weather ... at least the forest fire index is low and I don't ever think about needing an air conditioner ... but the bbq grill is starting to grow moss on it's northern side.... LOL

or or better yet, when will it arrive? I'm talking about SUMMER! (our forecast for the next few days...) This kinda weather is happening all over. The cherry crops in the Okanagan are at least 2 weeks late and they're saying it will be a slow harvest lasting into mid Aug. I sure hope we hit some good weather by the end of next week when we head for CODY!!! (and that is stays for a while)

When I was 15, I got a job in a fly-in fishing camp. Guy I worked for sent me over to the supplies shed to ask the guy there to get me a long weight ............. I waited... and waited.... oh.... nice lookin trike!!! (sorry, got muhself carried away there for a min)

Oh, btw ... thanks for posting this as it serves as a "wakeup call" to those of us who've not taken the time to do regular backups of our data. External USB hard drives are INEXPENSIVE to buy. I have Seagate 1 Tb and it comes with easy to use backup software. Everyone should have one.

When the dealer was supposed to put an " I " basket in mine, they goofed and put in a "G" basket. Made no difference at all. Got them to replace it with an " I " basket and it helped. This does not suggest that it won't work for you. The problem with changing out the basket in hopes of curing the whine/chirp is that it is a "trial-and-error" process ... there are no guarantees. I've read where some folks are putting in a basket from a 1st gen. If I remember correctly, if using a MK1 setup, you need the whole clutch assembly but if using a MK2, just the basket ... but don't quote me on this as I suffer from C.R.S. (Can't Remember Sh^t)

Not yet but it won't take me long to correct that

oh... so that's why they're so slow...

the driveshaft goes into something???

lol ... you can even get an air conditioner mounting kit for these things!

heh ... I wasn't even thinking about buying one just yet ... figgured maybe next year or the year after but 67mini67 posted the craigslist ad, offering to go check it out so that's what got me going on it. I know a couple guys who have them and just love them and I knew that they are locally manufactured so after I made connection with the seller, I then started looking around for others for sale ... only one was less money and it had zero options, was the "Cycle" model and the price was so low, I figgured it was probably not in good shape. heh ... we've already booked a camping site for the Sept long weekend and taken extra days off.

That's for sure... especially the ghostly image of a person's face in the first pic, just at the top edge of the blade, centre of the pic in the tree.

.. of this .... http://spokane.craigslist.org/mcy/2477091080.html A 2007 Lees-ure Lite Excel tent trailer manufactured in Osoyoos, BC. http://www.leesurelite.com/tenttrailers.asp This unit includes the following options ... 5 ft Awning (c/w poles, pegs, ropes) 5 ft Add-a-room 7 ft Screened awning (c/w poles, pegs, ropes) Foam mattress with removable cover Storage pod Rain tarp Wide tire upgrade Aluminum storage container Swivel coupler New cost of this unit is just under $7,400. We found a few others but not all had the options that this one does and most were higher priced. Thanks so much to 67mini67 for his original post of this unit and for going and checking it out for us. We expect to pick it up on our return trip from Cody. Consideration was given to getting it en-route to Cody and using it while there but we had no way to haul our other necessary camping gear down to Spokane. This unit will be used occasionally over the next 3 years but is primarilly for our extended tour when we retire.

Exactly the same thing happened to my '85 ... tried everything (except carb cleaner lol) ... eventually took it to an upholstery shop and got the seat and backrest re-covered ... cost me $250 but it was well worth it as I was able to choose material and colors, etc.

maybe he was riding a FIRST GEN ? :witch_brew:
