1. I scooped these off FB ... hope the guy don't mind. I believe they are dyno readings.
2. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60045 Looks like we may be in for a WET weekend guys. Let's monitor the forecast and if by Friday they are still showing clouds and RAIN for Saturday, well, *sniff* *sniff* ... I guess we'll have to call off the M&E ride. I'll contact everyone Friday with an update. Wayne, pls advise if you have an alternate plan / idea.
3. ... and that's why being a part of this site is sooooooooooo good! (you don't have to be an expert coz there's lots of them here to help a guy out)
4. There's simply no "simple" way around it ...
5. "Simply" put... yes ... but in reality, I believe you have to pull everything apart including taking the engine out so once you're at that stage, might as well FIX it with new parts (if you can still get them). Several others here on the site have done this and can assist. BTW, you might get better response to this by starting a new thread as this one is pretty old and your Q is off-topic somewhat.
6. Maybe... maybe not. With the 150 and the levelling links, I aggressively tackled some pretty tight twisties last Sunday and it was every bit as easy as when I had the 130 on yet I felt more secure... but that may have been due to having new tires front and rear too..
7. I think the title should read... THE GROANER JOKE TO END ALL GROANER JOKES. GGGRRRRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN !!!
8. You've owned this bike since new? If not, do you have it's documented service history? If not, I wouldn't be assuming such things (which appears to be the case).
9. Exactly the same for me... totally agree!
10. MT90 is what... a 130? If that's the case, see my post re: levelling links versus 130 tire. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60704 I think you've got a similar situation except instead of levelling links, you've lowered the front.
11. When you've shifted into 2nd and roll on the throttle hard... and she jumps out of gear.
12. Hey... c'mon guys .... ya can't blame a guy for wanting to make a buck (aka rip off) offa some poor, unsuspecting soul (aka MARK) now can ya ???
13. If your tires are stock, that's probably about right.
14. OK, I boo-booed ... I changed my rear brakes at 17,188 miles (27,661 kilometers) so I guess I'm doing pretty good compared to some of you. I currently have just over 35,000 km's on the scoot.
15. Me too!!! ... I was amazed how much more volume I had LOL .... I could set the volume at 15 and still hear fine instead of 22 while travelling at 120 km/h.
16. I agree ... just wanted to ensure his readings were cold.
17. I believe that the stock pads are POS. Mine wore out fairly soon too and I'd already swapped the inner/outer. Current set are HH (I believe) and when I changed the back tire last week, I swapped the inner/outer as the inner was already about 1/2 of what the outer was although there was still lots left. Knowing that the back brake seems to wear so much, I've been in the habit of checking them fairly regularly. I also use my front brake more now than ever soas to extend the life of the rear pads. Front pads are still very good and are the original.
18. ya... but seems I have to "kiss more than once" for anything to happen! :rotfl: (I'd checked those connections once already... but not good enuf I guess LOL)
19. I discovered what the problem was .... the patch cord to the bikes radio wasn't fully plugged into the Sirius unit. Yesterday the sound started getting real crackly so I started checking connections and `voila!
20. Is that when cold or hot?
21. So, I went ahead and made my levelling links but instead of making the holes @ 6 5/8 on centre, I drilled them @ 6.5 inch which raised the bike appx 1.5 inches. Following thread is the end result of me being a "Guinea Pig" (among other things ) http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60704
22. Just wanted to post my "findings" for the benefit of anyone out there contemplating either or both of these "mods". Last year I installed new tires and went to a 130 front tire. I installed inexpensive tires as I did not want to invest a lot if I wasn't happy with the results. The purpose of this, as is well documented, was to improve low speed handling...which it did. For me, at least, the downside was poor tracking at speed (anything beyond "low speed"), especially at normal highway speeds. Cornering was fine. I then made and installed levelling links using information and specs herein. Didn't notice much difference considering I was already running a 130 front. However, as the rear tire wore down, the tracking became worse (which is pretty normal anyway as the rear tire flattens off) Last week I replaced both tires with Dunlop E3's, going back to stock 150 on the front. Went out for a couple good rides Saturday and Sunday, encountering pretty much every driving condition including some major construction areas where the pavement has been ripped up and patched and I am thoroughly happy with how the bike now handles. Low speed, parking lot maneuvers are easy, tracking at speed is very good, the twisties take very little effort and the bike does not jump all over on those patched up roadways. IMHO ... go with the levelling links instead of a 130 front tire (unless of course you are short in the leg) The levelling links will raise your scoot by appx 1 inch I believe. When I made mine, I altered that a bit and it's appx 1.5 inches taller at the rear. No problem for me with a 32" inseam.
23. Good advice! ... I'll give that a try as to me, it makes sense.
24. Just curious what ya'll are running for pressure (front & rear) on your E3's ... what seems to work best? Dunlop MFG shows max load front @ 41psi and 40psi for rear.
25. First of all, what bike do you have? 1st gen ? ... 2nd gen ?? what year is it? It should not sound like a V-twin ... because, it's not a V-twin. When taking off in 1st gear, it should not be sounding like it is lugging. You could lugg it in any other gear but not 1st IMHO.
