You're joking... right?? At least you don't have to buy a special adapter and a motorcycle/atv jack and jack the thing to max height just to get the rear tire off. EDIT: never bothered me when I "upgraded" from my '85 to my '87. Only time I had to take the bags, etc off on the '87 was when the rear tire needed changing and that's when all other maintenance on the rear end was done. And I could do it all on the centre stand. The amount of work is almost the same on my '06 with the exception of the above mentioned which to me, adds to the effort and expense of maintaining a 2nd gen versus a 1st gen.

I have a drop point in Blaine where I get things shipped to and it's appx 1/2 hr drive (sans waiting to cross the border). I do plan to order on-line as the local supplier's pricing is not competitive. Having done a bit more research on E3's and Avons, it appears that the tires that fit the RSV are Bias-ply; however, you can get radials but just not in our size so, I figgure my Q has been answered! Thanks guys. (and it appears some knowledge has been gained here by others as well)
-
Availability isn't a problem. I do note that the E3's are available in either Bias or Radial ... just would like to know if those who are buying them are going with Bias or Radial?
-
That doesn't specifially answer my Q re: Dunlop E3 ; however, I went to the Avon site but could not tell which ones were bias and which ones were radial (in the Venoms)... can you guide me on this? Most of the Venoms I saw were labelled B (for Bias I presume) ... there were no "R's"

Someone local (Iforgot if it's in BC or Alberta) is selling a 2006 RSV and says they have an extended warranty that was purchased over and above the mfg 5 yr that is good thru 2013. I don't believe it's a Yamaha offering but I've asked the seller to let me know more. Anyone heard of such an extended warranty on these bikes?

So, I'm planning on putting new tires on the scoot before we leave for Cody. I got a price "on-line" which is out of the US on E3's bias ply. I then requested a quote from a local supplier and darned near fell off my chair. Front was $51 more and rear was $62 more and that's after a 20% discount. I am waiting for a response as to if they quoted on Radials. So, my Q is, do you guys buy bias or radial E3's ???

Sorry to hear that ... my condolences but yep, he most likely is. Hopefully you did catch the jist of my humour though.

So, your dad is finally riding with you now..?? :rotfl:

I wasn't taking anything personal... just wanted to know why someone would choose not to ride with me if I wasn't 100% ATGATT. I do agree with your "ATGATT vs non ATGATT" ; however that becomes a personal choice. From my perspective though, if someone chooses not to ride "in my presence" because of it, then that's their choice and really no skin off my (you know what...and no pun intended). Not being personal, such a person would probably not be any friend of mine either (but I wouldn't reject their presence or refuse to communicate with them). True friends accept friends "unconditionally" ... anything less is just an acquantance.

I've read a few other threads but none gave me the specific answer other than applying dielectric grease to the connectors (which I haven't yet tried). However, here's the problem .... Right front speaker - no sound Left front and both rear have sound No sound in right headset speakers, front or rear. Any ideas other than cleaning the connectors inside the fairing?

I know this is a bit of a hijack and I'm not really trying to stir the pot here but since there seems to be more than one who mentioned this, I'm really curious to know why not? I mean, if they are following the rules of the road and group riding, how does the lack of what you or some others consider "proper riding gear" have anything at all to do with anything in this respect??

yes... I will send you a link to my PayPal account... just deposit all you money there and you can then advertise here all you want.... Actually, I believe as long as you are a paid member, you can advertise no extra charge. someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Since nobody has mentioned this before... When I have that problem I pull the pads, lightly sand the glaze off them and the rotors. Reassemble with anti-squeal on the pad backs. Apply the anti-squeal to the metal parts that touch each other. Works every time.

I don't know what it's like to ride without a helmet and let my hair flow freely in the wind as ... a) I've never done it and b) I have no hair (well, I used to) Generally, Nina and I wear 3/4 helmet and as of this year, have intercom hooked up and we like that. When it's hot out, we will wear our non-DOT approved beanies. Since I've never ridden without a helmet, I just don't think it would feel "normal" not to. I don't think I'd like a full-face due the the added weight which would put too much pressure on my failing neck bones. In Nina's case, I couldn't imagine her riding without a helmet as she fusses so much with her hair as it is

Why did I think I needed that when i was broke

It's easier to beg foregiveness than ask for permission... (I beg a lot ) -
Yes, even though they came into my life when Nina and I got together (they're Nina's daughters), they are almost like my own.

Maybe next time you're up here Rick, that opportunity might present itself... (I'm just sayin..)

sorry... this is what a normal day ride looks like around here these days...

Anyone on speaking terms with the powers that be?

Romour has it that our April/May will be the worst on record for rain and below normal temps. I DID give all my lotto winnings to the weather gods in return for a nice warm, sunny day on June 18th when wizard765 is here for the M&E ride.
